My wife is in Kelso Washington and an emergency came up with our dog. She called several vets all around and none would accept him because they were full capacity. This was the first that said bring him which was just over an hour and a half a way. After reading reviews we were concerned but it was literally our only option. Upon arriving they came out and assessed him and immediately took him in, which we were kind of worried about how their attitude towards him might be since he’s a pit bull. They had no issues with the breed. Since my wife had to wait out in the parking lot, I’m sure due to COVID they contacted her religiously to update and complimented how handsome and sweet he was each time. Once we got the results and it wasn’t as serious as symptoms showed and everyone thought might be possible, they notified my wife of the diagnosis and the treatment. After that it was a while before we heard from them and he was discharged…. Which is COMPLETELY understandable, at that point he was no longer high priority and I’m sure they shifted their focus to the next high priority which we understand and I’m sure the next family was thankful for. Thank y’all for taking care of our Cactus man!

After loosing my prize Collie three years ago and now finding my new family member I thought I should write a review. First, I see many reviews of various Vets that center around cost as an issue. When it comes to my Collies I don't look for the best bargain. I look for care. My point is you either can afford a pet and all the expense that come with it or you can't. SVE took good care of my Kells. We both knew Kells was 13 years old, a good age for a senior dog. But she was suffering from Bloat. SVE never pushed anything on me, but they also made no assumptions as to what I would authorize and they offered quite a bit and never made me feel guilt as to what I did not want to do or decisions I made. I felt well advised, but I also felt empowered by them to make my own decisions based on their findings rather than their advice. They even offered a new treatment of a blood transfusion, were clear as to the price and chances of success, and I am happy about my decision to do it, yet afterward, it was time to tell my girl, "You did your job. You were a working dog and you did your job", and I let her go. I have a regular vet all us purebred Collie people use, but SVE is my emergency vet of choice. They are who I will call first in the middle of the night. We got in "no waiting", because of their triage priorities, and they kept me up to date all night long even after I went home to get some rest. It was just like being in a human hospital, although better. Thank you SVE, for your level of care and your loving staff.

They were absolutely wonderful to me and my Annie in her last moments. She started having seizures and it was her time to go. From the phone to showing up, they were kind, gentle, explained everything. Absolutely stellar emergency vet service.

After reading mixed reviews and being in a panic with our little dog throwing up/being lethargic, we were not sure if we wanted to wait the estimated 6 hour wait period in the middle of night on a holiday weekend or go elsewhere. We decided to wait and happy we did. It also ended up only waiting about 2 hours in the car before he was taken in. They did everything they should have- were in communication with us, let us bring special food for his picky needs, and most importantly were able to treat and heal his infection. They communicated our options and next steps and potential costs. Friendly staff. We very much appreciated their care and expertise.

Kind and responsive staff. After trying six other clinics, Salem Vet saw our dog in a timely manner and treated us with kindness. We’ll drive the distance from Tualatin again anytime we need emergency vet care.

We took our dog in to cross the bridge at 2 in the morning, giving up her morning appointment since she was miserable. I will never, ever forget the night time doctor saying “wow. She sounds terrible! I haven’t heard a dog like this before, it’s awful! You should have been here hours ago.” Meanwhile we’re bawling our eyes out because we just spent the last few hours trying to make her comfortable so she could go to a vet who wasn’t a stranger in her last moments. It left an awful taste in our mouths and even now when I think about it I get so angry and sad. He was also extremely matter of fact about the process and not much compassion. :/ I hope others have a better experience. The front desk gal was so kind though. I won’t forget her being so calm and sweet to us.

WARNING THIS VET WILL KILL YOUR ANIMALS IF YOU TAKE THEM HERE. I don't know how this facility is still allowed to operate. This place almost killed my dog. The word needs to be spread, please whatever you do, do not take your pets here.

I had a great experience at Salem Veterinary Emergency Clinic. Grateful they were there when my cat came in with a piece of wood lodged in his eye. They were busy and it took about 2-3 hours. They communicated regularly about their plans for care and costs. The vet and the staff were all very kind and thorough and my cat was returned to me having received great care.

I'm sure this place is the reason our dog died. I've never seen a vet act like they were on meth until this place. Unorganized, and apathetic, this place has no business being in business. Their actions killed our english bulldog. Don't go here.

Why is it 90% of your clients were neglected? I am a certified vet technician, have been for over 12 years, I've never seen this, what in the heck is going on here?! I understand an emergency that's run a lot differently but there is absolutely no need for high priority patients to be waiting for hours in the parking lot while low priority patients are seen ahead. That right there is about the money not about the care of the animals and that's disgusting. Reading all these heartbroken reviews makes so many of us take matters into our own hands and it never had to be like this. This "pandemic" is an excuse; yes more people than every have adopted animals while staying at home but this is no excuse for you to mistreat them to the point where they are dying. From the bottom of my heart I am so so sorry for any one of you who are affected by this vet and their employees it is so unacceptable. You can file for a wrongful death, neglectful duties of a doctor, Etc..

Dr Erbes and her staff did a wonderful job caring for my cat and communicating with me every step of the way. I am so grateful for the care and empathy we received during such a stressful time.

NEVER EVER TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE. First I understand there is a shortage of vet staffing right now. My service dog experienced a dog attack. I filled out their form online where it states animal are seen in order of severity. She had 3 massive gaping wounds. They made her sit in the car for 2 hours watching dogs who were bouncing happy tail wagging in before her. Once they finally took her she required surgery to repair her wounds. After picking her up we noticed something wasn't right we called they said it was the pain meds she was fine. When knew something wasn't. At 3 a.m we loaded her called them said we are coming back they said not to it was the pain meds and she wouldn't be touched until 9 a.m regardless of condition. we rushed my dog to Portland where the vets said she was in full septic shock. She died in the ICU. Less then 24 hours after leaving she was so far gone she died. 9k in icu bills later. We called to let them know they didn't offer condolences, I'm sorry, they said we need that vets records so we can write a rebuttal. Had they ever listen once to our concerns she would be alive. Now I'm completely heartbroken.

I was here for quite a while, to be expected as other animals too need attention. And the vets told me what was wrong, what was needed, and later the overall costs which is unimportant for my fur baby is what's important. They were kind and knew I was in distress about my fur baby's distress. I never want my children to be in pain, in this case my fur baby is like my own kid. And the docs helped her, healing her, administering medicine twice daily. Thank you for doing what I know I couldn't. Now she's resting and eating and I'm grateful to these people, they do care. Have patience as well, and just breathe. Also, it's okay to cry. I did that several times even though I knew she'd be just fine. ????????????????

Sadly I was disappointed in this place, they are not very nice and they are hard to work with. They do not seem to care whatsoever unless they are seeing plenty of money! I have an emergency fund that I pay for monthly and they don't want to work with you whatsoever. The entire time I was here there was several people that came in and they were in a panicked state and all they did was throw a form at them and say you got the payment? They don't seem to have any compassion. These animals are important to there families and they don't seem to care at all no matter what the situation all they care about is what form of Payment you have and how much at there disposal.

My puppy was took gasping for air. He was 7 days old I understand he had pnemonia but I told them do whatever it took to help him feel been thinking they would give oxygen he was released a hour later only with antibiotics. I know if they put him on antibiotics and gave him oxygen baby would still be alive

Had to make the hard decision to say goodbye to our furry friend, Max. Naturally, it was on a Saturday morning. Our regular vet recommended calling Salem Veterinary Emergency Clinic. Kindness and compassion began with the first person I spoke with, and continued on this most difficult journey. Unfortunately, due to our emotional turmoil, we failed to get anyone's name...but whoever helped us, Saturday morning, August 21st, from beginning to end, are angels here on earth. Grateful is an inadequate word.

We spent today at the emergency vet. From the initial phone call to see if they would take see our bunny to our discharge we were treated with respect and compassion. When the vet called to review the physical assessment she never once rushed me and she ensured our questions were answered. While our bunny ended up passing at home shortly after our discharge I’m greatly appreciative to Salem Veterinary Emergency Clinic for the care they provided.

This place is a rip off. Only reason we came here was because it was the only Vet open late at night and I couldn’t wait till morning. Kinda wish I did. Me and my boyfriends Frenchie was displaying bloat and was very sluggish. My boyfriend took her to this Vet and the wait took them over 3 hrs to see her. They came out to the Parking spot ant took Sevyn into the VET office and my boyfriend had to sit in the car in anticipation worried and wondering what they were doing to her. When explaining what was wrong with her they never offered a clear diagnosis with the options we had to keep her alive I had to ask multiple questions before getting any of that information. It was a lack of information for sure. Communication was only through phone and internet until the visit was finished. Imagine sitting outside a hospital wondering if your baby is getting the help they need! The veterinarian just kept insisting that they keep her over night and give her a shot that may or may not help at all and also started talking about if she seemed to decline they would put her down. We decided to pay for the shot to try and save our puppy since the Vet said she has a stage 4 heart murmur. They charged $200 for the visit and $250 for and X-ray and afterwards we were more confused about what to do so we decided to take her home and take her to another Vet for a second opinion. We were able to go inside and see everything that was being done to Sevyn. The second Pet hospital informed us her Heart murmur is a Stage 2 murmur and proceeded to drained the fluid so she could breathe better until she sees the cardiologist tomorrow and assured us she should will be ok until we can find out what exactly can be done to save her (surgery). It cost $200 in total for the drainage, X-ray and visit plus meds. PLEASE DONT RISK YOUR PET BEING MISDIAGNOSED FOR A HIGH DOLLAR. IF THEY WOULDVE KEPT HER OVERNIGHT, I BELIEVE SHE WOULD OF “ SUDDENLY DIED”

Our puppy had an allergic reaction to a bee sting and Salem Veterinary Emergency Clinic was able to see him right away. Dr. Witczak and the team took great care of our puppy. They clearly communicated throughout the process. We appreciated the wonderful care that was provided.

Thank you for taking care on my little TJ. They answered their phone right away and even though there was a bit of a wait it is an emergency place. The staff were very helpful and very empathetic to what I was going through. They made me feel very comfortable leaving my puppy with them overnight. They even called me with an update keeping me up to date with his progress. The price was ok too. It is an emergency room and I have to expect to pay more for having staff and Drs there around the clock. Thank you

Staff was EXTREMELY RUDE! A friend of mine had to take her dog in due to a swollen face, she had no money to take her dog so I sent her with my care credit card to pay for it, I called the clinic to make sure it was ok that I wasn't present with my card. I was never even able to ask my question before the staff hung up on me twice! I was in the middle of trying to ask and she very rudly interrupted me as soon as she heard the pets name and said "I already recieved a call about that dog and hung up on me!. All I needed to know was do I need to wake up my month old child at 5 in the morning to come down there with my friend to pay for the service or can I just send my card with her. Staff needs to be better trained in communication skills and be more open to listening to clients. I also work at a veterinary emergency hospital and this is not how we treat our clients! Believe me, of my place of employment was open at that hour I would have taken my friends dog there. Everytime I have had to come to this hospital I have had a negative experience. I will never go here again!

I took my cat in who woke me up screaming and panting heavily. They took her in and put her on oxygen. Asked to if i wanted to administer breathing treatments because they suspected asthma and ex ray which I said multiple times to do whatever they had to. They then explained the cost to me which was extremely high. I had the money it was just coming from my family and I didn’t have it on me right that second. After playing phone tag and being treated poorly by the staff over the phone about money, money, money. They finally told me I need to find another clinic as they were closing and asked again if i wanted the albuterol treatment which I had already agreed to. Finally i got her back and was told i had to rush her to VCA because she could die without oxygen. I got to VCA and was immediately told by the vet there that after reviewing just one slide of the x rays that it was not asthma and she was not going to make it. Finally met with staff who cared and had compassion over me losing my best friend. Never take your pet to this place unless you want to be told by staff to “lose the attitude and to calm down” while your pet is hanging on for life. Just a bunch of money grabbers who could care less about you or your fur baby.

The blonde female vet wouldn't help my 3 year old Chihuahua named Bullet because I didn't have cash up front. I cried begged and pleaded for help until Friday(my payday 8/13/21) this happened today 8/10/21 around 12:30am. My puppy passed away as soon as I got home at 1:45 am. I'm horrified and devastated and can't believe people like this take care of animals. This place doesn't care unless you have money. Don't bring your pet of any kind here if you want help or them to live. Why can they euthanize on credit but not save our furry family members live?

This vet trip was the worst experience. The staff was extremely rude and no empathy . You would have better luck taking your pet out back and putting them down on your own. Very short tempered staff that cares only about money. Made short sarcastic remarks. Ended up euthanizing our cat. To make matters worse they tried to euthanize without us present. Only when I protested with authority did they relent. Seriously as vet you should reconsider your line of work of this is how you treat pets . I’ve been to vets in Washington, Arizona, Georgia ,Tennessee ,Kentucky ,and Utah. This is by far the most vile place I’ve been. Thanks for the horrible experience.

Not a good experience. We called to see if we could bring our cat in. We were told to come on in. When we got there, we rang the bell and were greeted by a not very friendly staff with poor bedside manor. Our cat had been poisoned or gotten into something. He was dehydrated and could not control his bowels. He was projectile vomiting in the parking lot. We were told because our cat was not requiring CPR, we would need to wait in line, outside, in the car. We were also told we would not be put on the list until we filled out the online form. The staff treated us like we were idiots and should have known about the online form. We didn’t know because we were not told over the phone. That’s fine, we waited for about 30 minutes while the cat cried. I made the decision that something needed to be done because the way things were going, by the time they got to my cat, he would be dead. I called my better half to buy me activated charcoal and pedialyte. I gave the cat charcoal and gave him half dropper fulls of Pedialyte and waited for three hours. I had called once and was told 30 minutes to 1 hour more. I waited over the hour and called again. I was told another 1-4 hours. During my three hours, I watched probably six staff leave to go home. I get it, the end of the shift. I watched a walk up get served outside of the building for a sore on his dogs paw. I understand first come first serve but there needs to be a better system for triage. After they told me it could be another 1-4 hours, I went home. We had been the only patient in the parking lot for over an hour. I had given my cat charcoal and dropper fed him fluids. Had I waited, more of whatever toxin he got into would have absorbed into his system. He had finally stopped vomiting and gained some control over his bowels. I am not impressed with this place. The staff who met us at the door was rude. The gal on the phone was condescending. It would have taken a very short amount of time to take the cat inside, give him charcoal, and hook him up to fluids. I could have continued to wait outside.

My cat has an OBVIOUS injury to her back that is causing her to hide and cry in pain. She can barely walk and will not eat. I called this 'emergency vet' and was told that they are 24 hours and that I should come RIGHT AWAY. I arrived and was greeted by a cigarette smoking 'nurse' with bad breath and an even worse attitude. She blocked our path to the door and proceeded to tell me that my cat was not experiencing an emergency and that I would need to get back in my car, fill out an online form, and wait 6 hours before she could be seen. None of this was mentioned on the phone. I was told to come down right away. What a joke. Save yourself the trip and your animal the pain of being dragged out to the car just to be turned away at the 'vet'. What a joke. Disgusting individuals who are not qualified to care for a plant let alone a living breathing being.
