They are exceptional. They corrected information given to me by my original vet. Said my vet gave me misinformation. They couldn't find the problems original vet said existed. Advised to follow up with Heart of Oregon in one year. Dr. Atkinson very great doctor. Gave me information and spent time with me discussing situation. Give them 12 stars out of 10!

I don't wish the need for a pet cardiologist for anybody, but, if you need a pet cardiologist, Dr. Atkinson and her team are wonderful to work with. The staff respond promptly to phone calls and emails. They automatically email you a preliminary and final report the same day as your appointment so you can read through the findings and will even send you the imaging if you need it for your pet's regular vet. Right now, with covid, pet parents aren't allowed inside, but the staff keep you posted during your wait in the parking lot.

The customer service and vet care at Heart of Oregon is hands down terrific! When I first brought my rescue dog, Brody, here it looked like he had 6 mos to a year. With the diagnosis, Rx and care recommendations its been 3 yrs and he's still going strong. He has other issues but I'm confident his heart will stay strong! Thanks, Heart of Oregon!

After one of our cats became seriously ill we eventually were referred to Heart Of Oregon Veterinary Cardiology in the Oregon Business Park II, which sits off of SW Upper Boones Ferry Road. This location is convenient to Tigard, Tualatin, and Lake Oswego and is associated with the Animal Dental Clinic there. Their other location is in Tanasbourne, and is associated with the Veterinary Emergency Clinic there. It is never easy seeing one of your furry family having a serious issue. But all I can say is that Dr. Atkinson is no doubt tops in her field. She is extremely knowledgeable, investigative, State-of-the-art, friendly, and caring. And all of the staff there is amazing as well. We thank them for their incredible care.

A very professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate clinic. The treating doctor came to our car several times to explain prognosis and treatments. That is something that our regular vet will not do during COVID. Needless to say we were grateful that we could talk directly to the vet. Another compassionate thing that they did was offered us some medications for free that past clients had returned to them . We intend to do the same thing with our leftover meds. Also, after our dog passed, they sent us a sympathy card that each person in the clinic wrote a personalized message to us, some with their memories of our dog. Very touching and considerate. We were very pleased overall with the quality of care our pet received from this clinic. We have no problem recommending them to anybody that needs their services.

The kindest and most attentive staff. They went out of their way to make my cat less nervous when I told them he had too much anxiety for a back leg blood draw so they did it from his front arm. The staff was all very knowledgeable and you could tell they not only loved their jobs, by the individual animals that treated as well.

I cannot say enough about Dr. Atkinson!! She is a wonderful vet that really cares about her patients. We have had 2 dogs we needed to take to her over the years. Her care, knowledge and expertise has kept our older dog alive about 18 months longer than he should have been with his heart condition! And he is still going! Yes, it is a bit pricier for a specialist, but it's worth it if you can afford it for your pet. I highly recommend her and am very grateful to her and her staff!

Excellent experience for my pups cardiology exam. Third cardiologist in three states and by far the easiest on my pup and I. I was able to stay with him during the exam and the dr showed me live what was going on with his heart. Highly recommend

I can’t say enough about how wonderful and caring the doctors and staff are. We were worried and scared fur baby parents and they made us feel comfortable and cared for. They treated our pup like their own. They explained everything to us thoroughly and gave us helpful advice for caring for our pup. Thank you so much for everything and taking such good care of us and our pup.

Dr Atkinson and her team are Truly amazing !! I would recommend her and her team to any of my pet owner friends if they should ever need a great Cardiologist. She is very thorough, compassionate and did a wonderful job explaining our pets health condition and care plan. Although there is no cure for our beloved pet she is doing all she can to make sure that he is comfortable for the remainder of his time with Us........ Thank you for all you have done for our beloved (and Noisy) Chico ;-)

I took my dog Willow to see Dr Atkinson about 2 weeks ago. Off the bat she was pretty certain that Willow would need a pacemaker implanted. We had originally planned to do an echocardiogram to confirm, but she held off because she knew it would need to be repeated by the veterinarian that was going to do her surgery. I appreciate her being conscious of my financial situation and not pushing diagnostics that would need to be repeated, and instead recommending not doing it so I could put that money towards surgery. The whole team was very sweet with Willow. As you can see she was very comfortable there. Most of the time people only write reviews when they have a bad experience, but I feel it is important to leave a good review when you have a very positive experience. Thank you Dr Atkinson and the Heart of Oregon team! Willow is at OSU right now about to have surgery. ♥️

I am very happy with Heart of Oregon, Dr Atkinson and their entire staff. My Mastiff Mariusz was diagnosed with Congestive heart failure in Jan 2017 and the care he has received has given him 15 more months and still going strong. They are thorough and caring, I highly recommend them.

** Please see my 7/22/17 response to Heart of Oregon's response to my review at the bottom of my review** I must say I am somewhat surprised here. I used Dr. Atkinson years ago when she worked at a shared practice with my lab. She was wonderful - then. She left to AZ and returned to Portland recently and started her own business. With her additional services of in home care for cardiology I moved to her. We started fine, but the in home services were never realized. I had a very complicated case and it required more contact at times. I was willing to pay for this. She eventually made it clear we needed to set a boundary contract and during an exam with my stressed dog, she spent half an hour presenting me with how to deal with grief of the loss of a pet and said she had a business to run and there was to be no more than one contact(email or call)per day. She told me my dog was considered "palliative care" and that she reserved the right to bump him for other clients due to this, and she did., This after we ran up a lot of expensive diagnostics. She became highly upset later when I had sent an email, then received a call from the front desk regarding it, so I then returned the call. I received a blaring and non professional email that I had broken "our contract". I shared the email with two of my vets and asked how I could clear the air. They both said no need - we are not going back to her. One vets words, who is highly regarded, was "I would be hard pressed to ever contact Dr. Atkinson again even if my dog needed assistance". My "palliative care" dog lived over a year past after leaving her service and was provided good cardio care at Cardiology NW. As Dr. Atkinson said herself to me, there are other cardiology options here in Portland. I highly recommend that you use them. Cardiology NW has two cardiologists on staff M-F full days. Sunstone Veterinary offers exceptional internal medicine and cardiology. ***RESPONSE TO COMMENT FROM HEART OF OREGON 7/10/17*** Thank you for your condolences. Rusty was put on your list as lower priority palliative care patient and bumped for others after we ran up extensive testing. This never happened with our other cardiologist. Our in home care commitment did not materialize. As far as documentation of commitment, I have a copy of a letter from Dr. Atkinson stating we violated a "contract" for contracting your office twice in the same day. Commitment and "personally invested" to a complicated cardio patient? The relationship you say was unfortunate in ending was terminated by my two other vets once they saw Dr. Atkinson's letter who insisted we immediately move our services to a caring and available cardiologist. As far as the offer to for further discussion with the office manager who wrote this comment, our last comment from you that day of receiving Dr. Atkinson's letter was "Maybe it would be best if we found another cardiologist". I can document and verify all comments I've made.

Dr Atkinson was referred to me after taking my dog in to Dove Lewis with diagnosed heart disease. The front line staff was very organized with clear communication and worked flawlessly side by side as they dealt with their very busy office. Dr Atkinson was amazing as well. She is very knowledgeable, prompt and thorough. I will definitely continue my dog's care with this reputable clinic.

Dr. Atkinson and her team at Heart of Oregon were absolutely incredible. Even before our first visit with our four-legged fury companion, they answered all of our questions and concerns thoroughly and respectfully. Even more so, after our first visit and numerous phone calls, they continued to be there for us when we needed it most. We felt so important to them, as if we were family. The care they have given our lil one has been incredible. Thank you all for your kindness and compassion during this difficult time. -Riley and family

Dr. Atkinson at Heart of Oregon was referred to me by my dog's awesome vet, Dr. Lord at Pearl Animal Hospital. Dr. Atkinson and all of the support staff are friendly and obviously love animals. Dr. Atkinson is clear about procedures, how my dog's heart is doing, and patiently answers all of my questions, providing a lot of explanation and frequently offering extra information. If your pet is in need of a cardiologist, I highly recommend Heart of Oregon.

When my cat, Ru, was diagnosed with heart disease last year, I was devastated. I spoke to multiple veterinary cardiologists in the Portland area, and took Ru to several consultations. Dr. Atkinson is by far the most personable and considerate of the bunch. I was extremely impressed with her caring staff, who made Ru and I feel like family each time I called (which was so often!) or visited the office. They were ever-patient with me and all of my questions, which I really appreciated during this hard time. Dr. Atkinson was even able to make time to come to my regular veterinarian's office to treat Ru. Also, I believe she is the only cardiologist in this area that allows owners to be with their pets during exams and echos. This was so important to me!! After I finally lost Ru, I was so thankful to be able to look back on the end of her life and know she was surrounded by people who truly loved her as I did. I just cannot describe how grateful I am that Dr. Atkinson was involved in our lives. Thank you!

The team at Heart of Oregon fit my cat into their schedule so that he wouldn't have to wait the weekend for care. They handled him professionally and kindly. Our family received a short term plan for his treatment and long term expectation for his condition. I thought this quick response to my pet may have been a professional courtesy but just a few days later Heart of Oregon saw a patient that was having a cardiac emergency within an hour of me calling for a possible appointment. Dr. Atkinson and her team's expertise is combined with compassion and kindness. They are a valuable asset to our animal community.

I am very thankful for being referred to Heart of Oregon Veterinary Cardiology. Dr. Atkinson and the entire medical staff are remarkable and have been very supportive during this experience. The medical exams are very thorough. I appreciate being sent the medical results which are also forwarded to my pet's primary veterinarian. I am thankful for the abundance of resources provided such as Good Rx and pet loss support groups. Also, they were the first to discuss the very topics I wanted to address related to: anticipatory bereavement, quality of life, palliative and hospice care, coping with loss of a pet, end of life choices and so much more. It is nice to have locations to be seen in Lake Oswego and Hillsboro Oregon. Thank you for the love and care each of you provide to our fur babies!

From the first interaction I had on the phone with Deborah I was impressed with Heart Of Oregon. My dog Dixon was referred for evaluation and before I was able to bring him in his condition worsened and they helped coordinate with my regular vet and the emergency vet to ensure continuity of care. When I took Dixon in for his first appointment I was kindly greeted and I immediately felt welcome. Dr. Atkinson and Jessica were very friendly and helpful. They took their time to explain what was going on and answer all of my questions thoroughly. I was given the price for the procedures before they were performed which was helpful. Within an hour of leaving I recieved an email with a visit summary and all of the instructions for giving medication. I will be telling everyone about my great experience and will definitely recommend Heart of Oregon to anyone needing a veterinary cardiologist!! Thank you all so much :) !!
