Two days in a row I tried to get help in the aquatic section and the employees acted like I was bothering them. First day I waited 40 minutes and asked for help twice, (to be told by one employee they were headed to lunch and I needed to wait and then by the second employee that they would send someone and never did) Second day all of the tanks were under observation and not for sale and the employee was rude pointing it out and telling me he couldn’t help me and didn’t know when they’d be for sale again.

Perhaps the worst retail experience of life. No joke. I left in tears as did my child. We came to buy a goldfish. Which you cannot Bay unless you own a 40 gal tank sp the fish can grow. Keep in mind they have dozens in what they admit is approx 30gals. They claim this is OK due to the fact they are juveniles. They refused to sell to us on the premise of "they look after the welfare of all their animals. " A Nobel cause however this policy is flawed as they do not understand the concept they are using. It's called indeterminate size and it means that some organisms, including goldfish, only grow as large as their environment will allow. Its basically the same concept they use to say its OK for them to have 50 fish in a small tank. I'll say it again, my 4 yr old wanted a goldfish. The whole interaction was so wrong. They told me they value their fish but clearly not enough to truly be informed about how they grow. They just want you to buy a bigger tank. They cared little for a very distressed young mother and child.

I’ve tried to “shop” at this location both in person and online. They almost never have the products I went after, even though their website said it was in stock. The employees act like they’re doing you a favor waiting on you. It’s not because of COVID-19 either, my history with them goes back to 2018. I’m still waiting, 12/10, for a package I ordered on 11/27. 14 days and counting on something I could have purchased in person at PetSmart THE SAME DAY!

Good prices, but not the same selection as some other large pet stores. Petco tends to be limited in staffing as well.

I made the mistake of going to the Corvallis PetCo before this one, because this one looks utterly pathetic in comparison. Dark, cramped, dirty, with cardboard boxes of stock just lying around. Incredibly limited selection yet also looked bare, and the layout made it feel more crowded than it really was. It felt like I was in a popup Halloween warehouse, not a pet store. I spent 30 seconds wandering around looking for the rest of the store then left without buying anything.

UPDATE: 110321 - DO NOT BUY FISH HERE - 2nd time in 6 months their fish have died and wiped-out fish in my tank. Manager was an AH to the MAXXXXXXX @X#@#X about money back warranty. So condescending. Really wanted to school him - it’s not about the money - it’s the principle of selling sick fish. But hey, he’s the one working at Petco. The rest of the staff were great. I will NEVER step foot in there again. Never been a fan but it was convenient. Its PETSMART 4 me!!! *****Sebastian in the fish department id IT!!!! He literally saved me hundreds of dollars on a new tank. I got a very inexpensive 10-gallon starter tank at another store. I was very unhappy with it. He asked me a lot of great questions that helped deduce that the problem was the lighting. I got a new light, a glass lid and new background. I am thrilled with the results! I have included a (bad) video but you have see the changes I reference and the lighting. The cost was more than the tank, but I got the what I wanted. Sebastian is exceptional – he know A LOT. I wish I had started the whole tank/fish process there, but I didn’t want to go to Petco - now I do....

I was in to get new koi since I had to rehome my previous koi that I had for multiple years after moving states. The lady in the aquarium section treated me like im ignorant and have never owned aquatic life. She was rude, degrading and wouldn't allow me to get the fish of my choice due to her personal preferences and beliefs, when she had no idea what she was talking about. Instead of snapping back at her I just left the store. The simple fact that they have dying animals in there yet will not allowed a couple of amazing fish to go to a good home is disturbing. They shouldn't be allowed to sell living creatures that deserve better.

Petco has a sign outside their establishment that allows for certain people to enter without a mask due to medical exemptions. We I attempted to walk in I was very rudely confronted by a man that aggressively approached me making a scene and arguing with me about the policy. I have had people approach me before, and I can appreciate people doing their job. What he did was create an uncomfortable situation that didn’t have to be. He needs to be counseled on how to treat all costumers with respect and kindness. I have 3 animals that I spend money on and Petco will no longer be receiving my money.
