Bend equine is my first choice for professional medical care for my horses. They are responsive, helpful, and caring. Their diagnostic capabilities are first rate.

My late daughter's beautiful naughty mule hurt her hoof and couldnt walk the same week as my daughters tragic passing. The medical team came out and were so kind and understanding of the circumstances. My daughters mule is back to her naughty self ...except shes confused as to where her girl went...

My friend had to put his beloved dog to sleep today. It was hard to watch. But it was not hard to watch the professionalism and compassionate care from the staff who allowed my friend the time to begin his mourning process.

We moved here 3 years ago from Texas and I am realizing we were very spoiled not only with amazing vets and surgical centers but also with lots of options. Here in central Oregon bend equine is the only after hours emergency vet and believe me they know it and their prices reflect it. With no other competition for emergency care they charge rates that are through the roof. The is one of my reasons for my one star review but the main reason is for their lack of professionalism . They are extremely disorganized to the point you’ll have to email and call to remind them to bring supplies for routine things let alone emergency calls. Our mare injured her knee New Year’s Eve and they sent the inexperienced intern out who wasn’t comfortable doing much but especially dealing with a deep cut on our mares knee. Hours later after we had to wait for the other vet and of course administer more sedatives while waiting (why not they’re free after all, NOT!). They realized they had forgotten (or not thought of) to put on either of the two trucks a tetanus shot. My husband had to drive to their clinic pick it up and I administered it and was charged as a vet gave the shot. This is just one of many times they have come to our farm unprepared and most were for routine calls. I have had them come out to give certain shots and they forgot to bring that certain shot. Another reason for the one star is their lack of clarity with bills. They will hold you hostage if you do not agree on their charges and threaten to provide you no care for emergencies. I have learned to get estimates from them prior to any routine calls, however it didn’t even seem to matter getting these estimates. They always ended up charging way more and always had every reason and excuse as to why they charged way more. So we finally stopped using them for anything routine. And to my amazement my business of on average 15-25k a year to them meant nothing and it was like “don’t let the door hit you on the way out”. There were many times the vets at bend equine will play off us owners wanting to do the very best thing for our horses and saw an opportunity to ring up a very large bill which would turn out to be for no reason. I only later realized this when I got second opinions from other local vets and they would be like “why did you get X-rays done?” I said because bend equine said to, their response was “yes they like to do unnecessary xrays and aren’t true horseman”. In speaking to numerous other owners I have realized I am not the only one who has grown very suspicious of their practice and charges. I could go on and on but long story short there are other wonderful vets in central oregon to use for routine stuff and bend equine should only be reserved for emergencies and be sure to ask tons of questions on what they doing and why.

We were referred to this business by our regular vet in Bend as our Shepherd needed a serious dental procedure. Dr. Van took the controls and lived up to her billing as one of the best specialist in k-9 dental work. Successful surgery. Great team. Our BIG boy is back to himself already. When your pet means the world to you, this is the kind of place you want to take them to. Thanks Bend Equine and Small Animal Med Center!

I give 5 stars all around! I came from The Dalles because our vets here could not figure out what was wrong with my 5 year old mustang even though they tried very hard. I called Bend Equine and they told me I could bring her in. We got there at 1145 and was out by 430. Dr Tyler was amazing with my girl and communicated well and frequently with me throughout the whole thing. After all the meds the bill was still less then i thought and he worked well with my limit all while taking care of my girl. Thank you so much Dr Tyler for everything! It could take weeks or months for her to heal but you have provided me all the means to get her fixed up! Thank you again for everything. - Faith Neifert (google still has my maiden name lol)

I rescued a little wild filly who had broken her leg in the wild. "Grace" has been in the care of Bend Equine for over three years and last year went through two major sinus surgeries on top of her leg challenges. The veterinary staff has always taken exceptional care of Grace and ensured that we have and will have a very rich and rewarding life together. Grace has been through a lot, yet she never balks at getting into the trailer or walking through the doors of this incredible facility. She trusts them at such a deep level- my wild child knows that she is in the best hands. I am deeply grateful to everyone who has and continues to be a part of Grace's life. The doctors, techs and front office staff mean the world to us and I can rest easy knowing that whatever we need, we will be taken care of with the highest level of care and compassion. My broken little mustang was given equal value to every other horse there. Grace has always been treated like the priceless horse she is to me... and that means so much!
