This is the best veterinary hospital we have ever been to. Even with all the Covid protections in place, the whole staff was nothing but amazing with every visit as smooth as the last. Dr. Grant is a wonderful and caring doctor who worked tirelessly to help our kitty with a very aggressive cancer. She and the vet techs (and occasionally Dr. Foster) put up with our incessant questions about next steps and how best to care for him, including offering opinions on surgeries and ultimately when it was time to think about a goodbye. The end of life procedures were so calm and smooth and I know our boy felt no pain as we stayed with him the whole time. As long as Drs. Grant and Foster and their wonderful team are around, we'll never go to another vet.

This morning I did not think my cat was going to make it. His current vet did not have a same day appointment for him. After reaching out here they not only had the same day but told me to come on in right now. When we got there they were friendly, courteous, accommodating and seemed to very much care about my pet. We had to run blood test and panels to see what exactly was wrong with my him. After coming up with the problem, they gave him iv fluids and lots of other things to make him comfortable and so he can get to feeling better. While they said it would take a day or 2 for him to feel better, it is now 4 hours post to visit and he is no longer lethargic and drinking again and being nosy like all cats and already feeling so much better. I can't thank the staff and the doctor here enough. We love our pet very much and we were very devastated at the thought that we could have been taking him to the vet just to be losing him. Maizen and his family extend our true appreciation!

Never again. I took my cat there for emergency surgery and ended up dying. Which I'll get into that later but the biggest most hurtful part about all of it, is that they lost her body for a entire month!!! Yes her body was in their freezer for an entire month! I can't write this without crying it's so disturbing to me. It took forever to get her ashes because they didn't know where she was. This place only cares about making money. I've spoke with other vets, and I truly believe if they would have tried to stabilize her first with fluids first she would have survived the surgery. She was only 4 years old. She was my baby, and deserved better care than this. I trusted them with her and the way they treated her is sickening and no excuse. It's taken me 8 months to leave this review because it's so hard to talk about but I felt that I need to warn people about this place. My cat ruby deserved better. Still heartbroken and devastated. Don't send your beloved pets there.

We brought our 6 week old pup in as an emergency today we feared his leg had been broken after an accident. We called and even though their schedule was packed they told us to bring him in right away. We got there and brought our puppy in. The extremely friendly vet tech took our baby to the back and within seconds the vet tech and Dr. grant brought our puppy back he was walking on it and everything was fine. They could of asked us to do an X-ray which would of cost more money. But they eased our minds that he was okay explained what was going on with him and gave us some pain medication and instructions for him instead. You gained 3 new patients today because we immediately felt we can trust you and that you truly are here for the best of our pets. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for getting Bronx in as quickly as you did!!! The entire office staff was so professional and completely amazing!! I cannot tell you how much we already love you all and we will see you soon for all of our pet needs! Highly recommend!! Thank you all again <3

In town visiting and the folks at VCA were wonderful! They fit our pup in without a lengthy wait. Once inside the tech and Dr were awesome! Highly recommend this veterinarian!

Brought my dog in a month or two back because he had hurt his leg so we brought him in and they wouldn’t even do an X-ray until they knew if we could pay the bill because if his leg was broke it was going to be a lot of money. They had no kind of payment plan to even help and told us are only other option was to give him up to them. They gave us no other choice and this decision was made in less than an hour. And they even made us pay for the visit even though they didn’t even do anything we paid for us to give up are dog. Tired to call the next day to see if we could get him back and pay for it and they said “we already found him a new home and they love him”. Like I’m sorry what they love him already they probably haven’t even met him. I regret every going to this place and never will go back because I lost my puppy that I loved so much:(

My family was camping and my little dog broke out in a deep red rash. This vet saw us the same day and took Covid precautions. Our dog had an allergic reaction and VCA SylvaniaVET took great care of our dog and got us back on our way camping. Thank you so much for providing excellent emergency care. Our dog was so happy when he was returned to our care.

SylvaniaVET has been nothing but amazing. They have gone above and beyond for my dog. Dr. Grant is truly amazing, she’s been helpful and honest about everything, and has always taken the time to explain every detail of medications, what little things I can do, and steps I should take for my dog. I also would like to give the ladies at the front desk a shout-out. Especially during Covid times, they make at least 5 calls to one person during appointments- and they’re nothing but patient, kind, and understanding. Even when that parking lot is full. They also have gone above my expectations to help me, and taken extra steps to ensure my understanding of what’s next. The team at sylvaniavet is truly amazing, I cannot thank you guys enough for everything!

Great vet. My dog went into labor and had complications. They got us right in and helped us get her puppies delivered without charging me an arm and a leg like all the other vets I called where gonna do. Thank you for helping us

We have been taking our fur babies here for many years, however, when Dr.. Bob sold the practice to VCA(parent company is Mars, Inc- as in the candy and own more than 1000 vet clinics), things changed dramatically. When they tried to push an unnecessary surgery for our dog without even giving us an estimate, we decided to look for a new vet. It took someone 3 days to call with an estimate ($1500) and she tried to push scheduling the surgery without even having the test results back! No one ever called us to tell us the test results! We went to another vet for a second opinion, they called to get our dog's test results and it took sylvania vet two days to send records from 2 years ago! Finally after 2 more days, they got the test results sent, and that vet told us that the surgery was not necessary. Will NEVER go back!

Took cat to drop off at 8:00am....they came out to get cat.....said we couldn't leave until checked in.....and at 9:30 told sister we are leaving.. And hour an a half later....so so very upset....

We took our dog in after he broke 4 bones across his paw for a second opinion. We were hoping a cast would work, avoiding surgery. Dr Grant did more thorough xrays and the bones were so displaced that a cast would not work. We had him scheduled for surgery just a few days later. We are so impressed with Dr Grant and every Vet Tech and Assistant and Receptionist that we dealt with. We knew he was in good hands and appreciate the level of care given to our pup.

Money hungry and neglectful. Was charged waaayyy to much for allergy medication that my dog didn’t need. She doesn’t have allergies. It turns out they gave my 10 pound pup too high of a dosage as well, which could have killed her. Will not be back and do not recommend. Save your money.

Threw away my dog's paw imprint. When my GSD was at the end of his life, we turned to Sylvania Vet. (We have used Sylvania Vet for our pet care for many years.) Shortly after that, we moved away. I was in town and stopped by to pickup the commemorative paw print, but much time has passed and they had thrown it away. Maybe I am too old fashioned, but a phone call should have been made prior to discarding of the print. I could have made arrangements to ship. Very disappointed.

They push anything they can on you to get there penny out of your pocket. I don't normally write these things but i was very upset with there service. Won't be going back.

Love the vets and rest of the staff! They're very good and I have been back for a recheck for appointment, no charge. They even called me one day weeks after my puppy was there overnight and they had medication not used they offered it to me or a credit.

We've taken our dogs to several vets in Toledo but recently found SylvaniaVET and couldn't be happier. The facility is gorgeous and has everything you could ask for including a large vet staff, ER, boarding facility, grooming and shop for supplies. They are even open 24/7, which was very reassuring one night when our little Havanese developed a nasty eye infection late on a Saturday night. We were able to take him in and get him medicine that night and would've otherwise had to wait until Monday morning anywhere else. We also love that both of our dogs can share a run at the boarding facility which is also open 24/7. At the last place we boarded them, there was very limited hours on the weekends which made it difficult to pick the dogs up after our vacations. Dr. Bob and SylvaniaVET are the best. Highly recommended...

Loved going there for daycare and boarded our pups there for our wedding. Last time we had daycare, the girl told us we were all set when i went to leave (because we buy cards with loaded hours on them) and then i got a bill in the mail. Called them, they admitted fault, but are still wanting the 20 bucks. Also, i made a daycare appointment on a saturday, told them what time id be coming, but the girl failed to tell me they close early on saturday (which i couldve looked it up, but why couldnt she just tell me if she works there?) And my husband brought our dogs in and they were like, "where were they today? Daycare closed." Like i told you what time! No accountability on their end. They just shrug their shoulders. Going to check out new places.

Was running a little late. One of the girls at front desk called me I told her I was 2 minutes out she said that's fine I might just have to wait a few minutes longer Then when i arrived they tell me I am going to have to reschedule our appointment needless to say I didn't reschedule anything with them

Animals are unpredictable, vets should know. I gave myself time to wrangle my 18lb cat but he got the best of me. I was 10 min late to appointment and was told I had to reschedule. People doctors give you at least 15 min. No matter... I'm new to the Sylvania area and see I have plenty of veterinary options so wont go back to VCA Sylvania Vet

I really don't see how the other comments saying they are money hungry are true. Although they are not the lowest, they were willing to work with me and my fiance as our cat was blocked. We took him to an emergency vet since it was overnight and it costed $1,400 (some emergency vet in Maumee) at the Maumee vet they told us if we could afford the surgery they would just put him down...they said it in a very rude way. When we transferred him to Sylvania vet after his surgery they were very nice, attentive, and understanding. They helped us choose the most practical choice our budget could afford and I am very grateful for it. Another vet wanted $1,600 for 3 days of medical boarding where I received almost 2 days here for less than $300. Best vet I have been to so far and I have been to 4-5 in the Toledo/Maumee area

I have nothing but kind words for Sylvania VET. My daughter has been taking her dog there for about three years. They have been courteous and informative with her on all aspects of her dogs health. She has been utilizing the day care there about 2-3 days a week for the three years with no problems at all. I have been taking my 6-month-old dog to the day care for about a month, again with no problems.

I found a tick on my cat's neck and they saw us right away! The staff were great with my cat and got it off her quick and easy. I will definitely be going back for future care of my animals!

Dog went it feeling sick, they tested him, found out it was parvo, treated him and after 4 days he was all good, no complications. Plus they answered all our questions amazingly.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. We had an appointment on Friday. I was called less than half and hour before the appointment, the doctor was sick and they needed to cancel. I understand that can happen. I was offered another appointment later in the day, I explained that it was difficult to make that time and I could be late. The appointment was then booked for 1:40 PM. I arrived 10 minutes late. I stood at the counter for another 5 minutes because on of the desk workers was having a personal conversation with someone. When I was finally checked in I was told that I was too late and needed to reschedule. Normally, going there I sit in the lobby for 10 minutes after checking in and then we sit in an exam room for another 10 minutes waiting for the doctor. I received multiple excuses. They moved on to the next patient. There was only one doctor there (I saw one leave while I was at the desk). Suddenly, the only doctor there was now in an emergency surgery. I replied to the emergency surgery excuse. Asking even if we were on time then we wouldn't have been seen, why didn't anyone call me? I was told we would have been seen. That tells me there was no emergency. Plus upon leaving another pet family was arriving for their checkup. I pretty sure they were seen. I told the desk manager that if we were not seen I would be looking for another vet. She didn't care. This is no way to treat a patient who has been a patient for over 5 years. I pass 4 vets on my way to Sylvania VET, because I thought they gave the best care. They may have good care; but THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. I found out when leaving that they didn't even have the decency to schedule us with our regular doctor originally! I have already made arrangements with another facility and requested a records transfer. Find a different Vet for your pet.
