Terry does not understand working dogs. I have a malinois that has confidence issues, terry came into my house. Due to the pandemic, he was the first stranger that had entered my house with my dog ever. My dog was not happy, he hit his threshold and terry wanted us to push him past his threshold. When we refused that, Terry said our dog needed euthanized. If he had any clue about working dogs he would choose to meet them on neutral grounds prior to trying to enter their homes. At least we now have a new nickname for our guy…. we call him Jeffrey, since Terry said living with him is like living with Jeffrey Dahmer, even though he woke me up with kisses this morning!

We paid $100 for Terry to come to our home and he didn't even interact with my dog. He had us keep him on a leash and all he said was he was untrainable and that we should get rid of him and that he is just a Jeffrey Dahmer towards our other dog. We found a new place that is willing to train and interact with him and even did a little bit of training on the first day we were there. Do not go here.

Excellent training. I must warn you that 90% of the training is for the owners. I have owned dogs for 40 years and I was doing everything wrong. So, if you have a problem with somebody directly correcting you and if you don’t know humility, this class is not for you. Quite honestly normal adult life is not for you. The trainer is not rude. He takes his job seriously and he is very knowledgeable. He is also not apologetic in his directness, but never rude. I didn’t take the class to get a best friend. I took the class to gain this man’s knowledge and get my dog trained. If you want your feelings coddled, looks some place else. If you are an adult and know how to handle direct communication, you will do fine. But if not, More than likely, there isn’t a class anywhere that would be good for you. As for the complaints I read through, I can tell the owners didn’t listen at all, because in the very complaint they state they have done the very opposite from what the trainer has taught. This goes especially for the complainer that says he taught them to give treats for biting. As for the pit bull issue, I am glad he disallows them. I would.not let my dog or children to be around pit bulls. They are dangerous unpredictable animals that were bred for violence by way of dog fighting. You are an idiot if you think anything else.

Does not accept dogs of mixed breeds. If I could give negative stars, I would. I called to inquire about classes to sign my 1.5 year old dog up for training. I told the man on the phone that my dog was part mastiff/lab and he proceeded to tell me what I needed to bring to class the next day. I show up to class and immediately get told that it was not a good idea for my dog to join the class because she looked like a pit. The trainer looked at my dog for less than 60 seconds and judged her before she even knew her. If they would have told me on the phone when I called that there was a chance that my dog would not be accepted based off of her looks, I wouldn't have wasted my time going to the class just to be turned away. I was extremely offended and disappointed.

Gardner dog training was the best obedience class I've ever attended. We took our six-month-old English Bulldog there for 8 weeks and they taught us so much about puppies and how they act and what's going through their mind so that we could react accordingly. By the end of the eight weeks our puppy was able to sit, go into a down position, Sit Stay, Down stay, recall and heel all on command. They were also able to help us address the issues of her jumping up on people, the dinner table, and the door when she wanted to go outside. We are left with a playful yet obedient well trained puppy. I can't say enough good things about Gardner dog training. I would recommend them to everyone!

I wish I could give them a zero. I signed up for puppy classes, but then started reading the reviews. We changed or mind. They had received my deposit on a Friday and I called that same day to cancel our class. I stated that we could not make it to the class. I figured no problem right? Well I was wrong. I told them we can not make it and I was rudely asked "Why can't you make it?" I did not answer that personal question. I asked them to rip up my check and he said he "would not" rip it up and he would cash it. He offered to apply it to another class and I said "not at this time", we will get back with you when we are ready. He said he would not let me pick up the check and he would cash it. He was so rude the entire time and I will put a stop on the check.

Great and practical experience for my beagles and me. I have used them for classes and in-home consultaicon. It is obvious that the instructors are very educated and experienced. Highly recommend for classes and in-home consultation for special needs and behavior problems.

We just love Gardner dog training. These people are professional and experts at what they do . We have taken her German Shepherd puppy through the puppy kindergarten class and started the home obedience class but was unable to complete it and have now registered her for the home obedience class and looking forward to finishing this class with Terry and his wife. I would highly recommend Gardner training for all of your dog training needs.

I was fortunate to have been referred by my veterinarian to Gardner Dog Training for my 5 month old Great Dane recently. She had a rough start in life and training had been delayed due to her health issues, so she (and I!) were dearly in need of help. I scheduled an in-home private session with Terry, who is an absolute master at his craft. He knew almost instinctively what her issues were and suggested ways to assist me in correcting them which were nearly immediately effective! As she is already very large and strong, I was having problems handling her when walking on leash, and with his guidance and instruction she is walking on leash better than she ever has. He obviously has a love of dogs and is skillful at working with them to attain a well-behaved, well-adjusted and happy companion. I will be continuing Jolene’s training in Gardner’s obedience classes, and will recommend them to anyone who is in need of an excellent training program for their dog.

Twice Terry has helped me over the last 15 years. Both times he came to my home and helped me work through some serious behavior issues my dogs were having. During our 1st training session a neighbor's Rottweiler tore through a screen and …

I have been happy with the training and experiences I have had at Gardner Training Center. The trainers are knowledgeable about positive reinforcement training as well as behavior modification. I love taking my dogs there and will continue to use them for training in the future.

I'm only giving them 1 star because I can't give them none! My SIL just reviewed and we are beyond upset. Being a responsible dog owner, I am looking for training for my pit mix. I contacted Gardner because it looks like a lot of people like them. They were very adamant with finding out her breed and when I told them she is a boxer/pit mix, they informed me that "(Their)  insurance does not permit pit bulls in our group classes.  We could take a look at her if you like to see if she looks like and acts like a pit." This is coming from professionals, or so they claim. "Looks like and acts like a pit"?!?! What is that supposed to mean? Is she a goofy, loving, fun puppy? Yes. Then they offer me private in-home training which cost $100 an hour! Then they say, "(Pit bulls) often are overly focused on the other dogs in the group classes and play arouses them to get over stimulated risking the safety of the dogs and people." This is all being said about a 4 month old puppy. She still trips over her own feet if she walks too fast. I have been doing some training on my own to keep her brain working. She already knows "sit" and is doing well with walking on a leash. My "dangerous" pit also lives in a house with another dog, which is only 25 pounds full grown, and 3 cats. Believe it or not, they have all survived her. Yes, sometimes she can get overly excited, but what puppy doesn't? She hasn't once ever made me fear mine or my families safety. I would think that a "professional" establishment would want to change the stereotype rumors about pit bulls but instead, they are enforcing them! It breaks my heart that my little Luna is being turned away and judged just because of her breed. If you have pit bulls or love a pit bull, don't go here. If they feel like they can't train a 27 pound, 4 month old pit, then can they really help you?

If I could give these ignorant and outright dangerous people negative stars, I would. My brother and SIL went to enroll their 4 MONTH OLD mix puppy (who is part Pit Bull), and received back the most ignorant, unfounded, dangerously untrue …

My wife and I got a hold of them to enroll out 5 month old Boxer-Pit puppy. There first question for us was "what is her breed". When we told them she was a part Pit they proceded to tell my wife and I "If she acts like a pit" they can't work with us.Or we would have to pay extra to have private one-on-one classes so she doesn't hurt other dogs. Our Puppy is the sweetest thing you have ever met. We have never had a problem with her towards other dogs or people. She is still a puppy so how can she be treated like a monster that will hurt other dogs?! I am a believer that it is not the breed, it is the owner that makes a dog a good dog. It's down right prejudice to think otherwise. My dog is a part of my family. How dare these people judge part of my family without even meeting her? Please do yourself so a favor and do not go with this trainer. They will judge you before they even meet you. They are the perfect example of ignorance.
