I should have known better than to go here as this is not the first bad experience I’ve had here (and now 2 bad reviews). However, our poor chihuahua was in bad condition and unfortunately this was the closest vet for this situation. We would much rather have gone to our vet (Faithful Friends - they are fantastic) but it was after hours. This vet is awful for what they did. We had to make the very difficult decision to put our baby down & not even an hour after leaving their facility they were calling my husband’s phone asking for payment for the euthanasia as “they forgot”. My husband and I were hugging and crying together as the phone rang. Money means nothing right now to me, I’m fine with paying whatever it takes. However, what DOES bother me is the lack of compassion for someone who just lost their fur baby. They had our address on file, they could have billed or at least called at a later time. This made us more upset than we were already. Incredibly insensitive.

My dog was having minor problems with one of his paws. His paw was every swallow and bleeding alittle. I knew it was inflected and he was probably going to need some type of antibody for it; however Christmas was close and are local vet could not see us tell 3 weeks out. I did not want to wait that long and I had gone to OSU vet clinic on campus and had great experience so decided to try the Dublin location. Glad I did. First off, you cant beat the price. Walking in with no appointment you well pay 120. Then depending what you need the cost well very. I had to pay an additional 50 for some meds and I was in at 845 and out by 10 and staff was very friendly.

I was so thankful for OSU Veterinary urgent care! First time I’ve ever had to take a pet in for any type of urgent visit, i was already anxious about the cost and possibilities of what was wrong. My 4 year old dog was taken in yesterday when she wasn’t acting herself. The staff were incredibly helpful before my arrival when I called. Walking me through what to expect and how much I would pay up front. All of the staff I encountered were calm and friendly, and that definitely eased my anxiety. Upon exam the woman was so attentive listening to my every concern, and even watching a few videos I had taken a day before. She told me what she suspected and explained what we were looking at before the initial history/exam were completed. Covid didn’t allow me to wait in waiting room which was understandable. But they were very quick and thorough when they called after the exam was completed. Cost was obviously one thing I was very worried about. Obviously I know everyone’s visit would be different but our visit in total was $150, and we were finished in roughly 3 hours from start to finish. Very thankful for the team and I hope to never need them again. But I know that we would be in amazing hands if we needed their care again.

We took my dog here when he scratched open his stitches. The staff was wonderful and so helpful over the phone before I even got there. This is a much more affordable option if your pet isn’t suffering from something life threatening but needs immediate care. I highly recommend this location.

We have to be realistic in our expectations, there are not enough qualified and willing people to to fully man almost anything medical; hospital, doctors office, veterinary office or vet hospital. That said, when the people working in one of those places really care, they make things happen regardless; it just may take more time. That was the case with our cat. He had a mysterious infection like disorder in his face and we were waiting for labs to come back to our local vet. On Sunday he was so distressed that I was afraid we were going to lose him so I built a sick bed in the backseat of the car, my adult daughter played nurse and we made the two hour drive to Dublin. They took him in, took my number, we paid the up front ER bill and we went out to kill time and wait. Three hours later they called us to come back and they had taken scrapings from his face, ruled out my two worst fears, made recommendations to take to our family vet, and gave us a topical antibiotic for the secondary infection in his ears and a liquid pain medicine so he could get some rest. Today we got the labs back, and he has an autoimmune problem and we are treating that. I think they may have saved the little guys life, not in a big heroic measures way, but thru having compassion, caring enough to help him get some rest, and by stopping the opportunistic infection in his ears. In all, a long hard day of driving and waiting made more than worthwhile by people who care. Highly recommended.

Walked in with our baby who was sick and within 10 minutes of being in the back she died. These places only want money they said $300-$500 and made sure within the 30 minutes we was there start to finish it cost $500 never explained what we was paying for or that crp consent (witch I though was just CRP giving them extra air to breath) was $250 then on top of that when we was leaving with our baby to get her cremated if we wanted to buy a box to put her in for only $10. Like are you serious you people are so inconsiderate atp a box is the least you could have done (no ty keep your box) By far the worst experience ever I definitely feel like they took full advantage of the urgency and trying to rush but explained nothing about what cost what before charging us the MAX I would rate it 0 but that was not an option

My chihuahua started having issues breathing through his nose recently, uncomfortable and not acting like himself. I took him to OSU Vet & was basically made to feel like a liar & they stated he was “fine” during his stay (which was 4 hours, so find it hard to believe, if anyone was even paying attention to him, they saw no symptoms at all considering he’s doing this quite frequently). We were told they didn’t have the “proper tools” to look in his nose. What type of emergency vet doesn’t have tools for every scenario? We were then told that they could do a chest x-ray to evaluate but that would not change their course of action regardless of the results. The course of action was to prescribe “cough tablets” with no other information as to what this medication even is. Needless to say, the tablets have not helped at all but we did try them thinking they could help “dry up” some of the secretions in his nose. Not a good experience at all. Very disappointing as I did bring him here once before for a tick removal and they were very nice. Seems this time all they wanted to do was rush through their patients and tell you whatever they want just to get them out the door. So, now we are out over $120 and have to schedule a vet appointment to be charged even more money; but maybe they will actually evaluate and treat him in a correct/professional manner.

The staff were very kind and compassionate as we brought in our elderly dog for her final rest. They did not pressure us on time, allowed us privacy and provided us with affirmation that we were making the best choice. The vet was very kind and gentle with my pet and was very kind to us. We had asked to not leave her alone in the room after her passing so when we left they covered her in a nice blanket and allowed us to leave through a side entrance vs walking through a busy lobby. They made the absolute worst day of my life slightly easier.

I have had two recent experiences at this location. A few years ago I had a great experience but twice this past year I have been so offended by their front desk staff I had to write something here. Their front desk staff is the rudest, coldest worst customer service individuals I've run across. When someone is coming to you it's an emergency. They are upset, they are emotional, they are scared. You were dismissive and both times said "do you have $500? We can't look at them until you pay it and then you need to leave and wait outside". We know there is a fee, we have no problem with that, we understand waiting inside might not be an option, it's the way you said it. A little caring, compassion and common courtesy on your part, when we just put our whole world in your hands, would be nice. It isn't too much to ask. If you can't find that and treat people with care then this isn't the job for you. Not to mention the restrictions of going on with your pet are ridiculous. Way over the top at this point. MedVet will be there only option for emergencies for my pets.

Simply the best. Nothing short of 5 stars. Our cat ingested a piece of her toy (hard plastic). We reached the facility 10 mins before the closing time and they were quick to see us, run x-rays and address the issue. They stayed back almost an hour after their closing time to save our cat. We have been here before for another cat emergency and they were perfect the last time too. I really like that they can see the pets at a short notice. Both times they took great care of our baby. They are very experienced and have a caring attitude. If they start accepting normal visits, we would change in a heartbeat. Thanks OSU team.

This facility is full of caring and talented professionals. I encountered an awesome group of admin, vet tech and vets at this emergency facility. I am so thankful Ohio State's vet school has a location for emergencies. These folks saved my dog's life and I am so thankful for their efforts! THANK YOU!

Sadly, I will not be recommending OSU’s vet for a couple of reasons. We have a 9 month old American Akita (Kuma) and he was there today for x-rays to confirm his ACL tear. Upon pickup, a couple of things happened that were a bit concerning. 1. Unprofessional: The gentleman in front of us was also picking up his Akita. The receptionist and VET tech (unknowing that my partner was waiting right behind him) said “oh there are two Akita’s here today, trust me your Akita is way better!” 2. Poor communication: My partner received a call informing him Kuma was ready to be picked up. He drove back and waited in the waiting area for ~1 hour prior to the vet calling him again asking when he was going to arrive to pick up our Akita. He informed her that he’d been waiting there for an hour. 3. Poor Service: Upon return to us, we noticed that kuma was bleeding from his paws. Upon further observation they had cut 4 of his nails too short and therefore was bleeding from them. Mind you his nails are clear and it is fairly easy to see where his skin attaches to the nail. They supposedly trimmed his nails while sedated which would make this easier. We never asked for his nails to be trimmed in the first place. 4. Poor service: He has had his knee observed by both his primary VET as well as at MED VET with no problems, but for some reason OSU felt the need to muzzle Kuma. This is concerning because other facilities were able to exam him without problem and leads me to believe it was the specific workers at OSU. Kuma was returned to us feeling very uncomfortable and very timid which has NEVED happened previously. 5. I personally called the office after realizing Kuma’s nails were bleeding to the response: “oh sometimes that happens when dogs walk on concrete after getting their nails clipped.” He went on to limp and whimper the rest of the evening. For these reasons, I do not recommend receiving care for your puppy/ dog at this facility, and we will be taking Kuma to a different vet for his surgery. Furthermore, I’m concerned that this experience will make him uneasy at future vet appointments, something we’ve never had a problem with.

We took my shih tzu here for care because he was very itchy after getting fleas and had a hot spot. The ladies there were super wonderful and sweet. They did a great job with our dog and the price was cheaper than expected! I was looking for a new vet and I plan to go back to Ohio State University for care in the future! Thank you!

Hi: this is my second email that I'm sending to you all which we brought our dog Spade in on 8/7/21 concerning his back leg to see what was going on with him and I noticed that y'all didn't even take and X-ray of our dog but you only send us home with rimadyl chewable 100MG and just took our money so we did call our veterinarian to discuss the situation and neither did you even called our vet to explain it so it's like y'all just took our money for nothing that neither of y'all did for our dog Spade. Thank you,

It seems that emergency vets are the last place on earth with extreme pandemic restrictions. My dog had sudden terrible back pain one night and I chose to wait till his regular vet opened the next day, rather than OSU who would not let me come in with him. Him being panicked was more likely to hurt him further than just waiting it out. I was pretty angry though... I am fully vaccinated and very willing to wear a mask. Not sure what guidelines they are attempting to follow, apparently not the CDC. I honestly think their lives are just easier without the human owners around, so they cling to that policy that protects no one.

My pup broke his toenail while playing and it was bleeding and causing discomfort. It was of course, 330 on a Friday on a Holiday weekend. I called about 30 different vets and animal hospitals and OSU was the only location that could get him in. They were quick to get us in. Gave us our details up front and let us know that he would probably have to be sedated to remove the nail. Due to COVID, we were unable to stay in the hospital so we left and waited for final details of the next steps. We were surprised to quickly get a call from the vet. He didn't need to be sedated and she was able to have him all taken care of. They could have still charged us for sedation or sedated him when it wasn't necessary because they had already set that expectation and price tag of $300 to $350. I am now thinking of changing vets because they have earned my trust and I will recommend this location to anyone who needs emergency services. Thank you!

I can not thank the staff there enough for tonight, I was so scared something was so wrong with my Luna and they let me bring her in at closing time and when the vet assured me she was fine they even refunded my payment. They truly care unlike medvets it’s not all about getting paid for them! Thankyou so much!!!

On 6/8 we had our 2nd experience with OSU Dublin. We returned due to the great care we'd received in a previous emergent situation & once again, were reminded why they're so wonderful. Unfortunately, our cat fell very ill unexpectedly & the prognosis was not great. I brought him in alone, with my 2 young children, as my husband is a first responder & was unable to leave work. Upon entry 1 of the admitting employees immediately struck up conversation with my kids to keep them occupied while I did what I needed to. Within 45 minutes of check-in we'd been contacted multiple times by the doctor & tech regarding our cat's care. Due to what we were told we had to make the difficult decision to put him to sleep & both of my children wanted to be there for it. I was nervous, given I was alone, but the nurses & doctor were truly amazing. When the doctor came to explain everything, she got eye level with my kids & explained things in a way they could understand & she offered them the chance to ask their own questions. They gave us plenty of time for snuggles & lots of love & they allowed me to pay from the room so I didn't have to go back up front at the end. Everyone was so kind & patient - especially with my youngest, who wasn't fully grasping what was happening & the severity. No one ever wants to be in this position, but as difficult as it was, I can't image a more comforting, supportive experience. They were very also kind in their reassurance we were making the right decision, which I was struggling with. As a mother, & pet owner, I can't thank OSU Dublin enough for the grace & support they showed our family. Can't recommend them enough!

Everyone was so kind and compassionate from the time I called till my beloved dog of 16 years took her last breath! They went above and beyond to make this process as easy as it could have been. Thank you from the bottom of my broken heart to all of the out of this world staff.

Called and was told to wait in car (they even asked make and car color) and that someone would be out to pick up our dog. Well, 30 mins goes by and then nothing. Call back and then they said nope just come on in. Thanks, we really liked waiting half an hour for our dogs emergency but sure. Then after the visit was over they charged us hundreds of dollars for 4 different medications that my dog doesn’t even need. Even the vet said after the visit just feed a bland diet for a week. I would recommend to take your pet somewhere else for emergency service and if you do go here, make sure you get what $ your are going to pay first and if it’s necessary.

Love the comfortable feeling when coming to this clinic, Very nice front office reception that make you feel calm. Dr. Metzler and Dr. Violette from Ophthalmology are truly wonderful and knowledgeable and their technician Gina Dodge and Heather Briggs are the most kind individuals. My dog Cody is being treated for a severe eye ulcer and eye infection at this clinic. I drive in from Cleveland as I do not trust my dogs care to anyone else! Highly recommend this facility and main campus OSU facility,

Five hours & over $600. to clean a bite wound on a cat, & draw for a blood test. Incomprehensible! Reception & intake personal quite good & helpful. All told, my experience of this clinic is that operationally it is grossly inefficient.

Very thourough, respectful & informative from the receptionist to med tech (Mary), resident (Dr. Doyle) & surgeon (Dr. Jones)! No detail is left uncovered. The x-rays, medications, surgery & possible complications were all carefully explained. I received an overnight number to check on my dog & even a way to have my questions answered after surgery. I'm very impressed & would recommend them to anyone!

AS A HEALTH CARE PROVIDER I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY. Take your fur baby to a place that has compassion, is honest, and upholds ethical principles. Their lack of communication within their own facility and specialties are embarrassing. Their orthopedic team is a joke and always uses the excuse of being busy for not being attentive. Also, their doctors hide behind the walls as if their patients are human and have covid-19, instead send the residents and students out!!!!! A resident (Dr Zann) flat out lied on my dog’s discharge paper stating I refused x-rays because I had to leave for another appointment, when in reality they could not sedate my dog well enough to take good pictures and would not sedate him again because he has a heart murmur and needed clearance from a cardiologist. Yes I had to leave to get to my vet’s appt after being there for 5 hrs, you made me wait 1 hour in the room after xray was completed; I wanted to at least make sure my dog was ok because no one reassured me after xray, the front desk kept saying they are having a busy day, emergencies, etc. They also will not release your pet until you pay in full. Yea, this facility will take your money and will not give you results. Also disappointed with Dr Dice , ortho, as he did a consult on my dog during cardiology procedures when he was sedated but failed to order xrays per Dr Jones instructions knowing that this dog is at cardiac risk going into every sedation, I called and requested to speak to him and he would not speak to me because technically this was a cardiology appointment!!!!
