Unfortunately me and my beardie did not have a pleasant experience here. The doctor had nothing but negative things to say about my beardies health and eventually recommended us to someone else for possible surgery. I was a complete mess …

Had to do an emergency drop off for my cat due to a possible tooth infection. When I was given the estimate, it included biopsy as well as a possible 1 or 2 tooth extraction. Due to ridiculous cost, I decided to take him to another vet for a consult. And what did they find? On a thorough examination, I was shown he had 4 bad teeth and no sign of possible mouth cancer as was indicated by my estimate which included a possible biopsy. If the vet had actually looked in his mouth, he would have seen immediately that there were 4 bad teeth visible! Not only was their price estimate ridiculously high, I was very upset about the fact that they apparently didn’t even take the time to give my cats mouth a thorough enough visual exam to even see the 4 bad teeth that I was shown! And to top it off, their estimate only included a possible two tooth extraction at the price of 100 for each tooth! Like I said, if a thorough exam was done, which should of been for the price of the emergency drop off, they would of been able to plainly see the bad teeth! I will NEVER take my pets back there again, total rip off with no concern for my pets well being. This has shown me that.

You performed a horrible hack job surgery on my girlfriend's dog!. It could have been done much different. Weeks after the whole family is affected by the care this dog needs. And when they came back to you each day after you wanted to charge them. They will be seeking legal advice. They are seeing a different vet now to try to fix the dog. Also your sanitary skills are disgusting!

When I first moved up here I brought my Lion head Rabbit to them for an ear infection. They didn’t seem very sure of how to care for a rabbit, that was clear by not only how they picked her up but saying that her diet should be cut down to strictly veggies and pellets. They tried also telling me she had sore hocks on her feet from being caged on a wire cage, a cage that I don’t even have. I then paid $300+ for a simple ear infection with no test done. Fast forward to about two months ago. I have a rescue bunny we just got that has teeth issues. He needed them trimmed and so I called them to see if they might help. I was informed they would only do it if we let them use medications to make him sleep during the procedure, which bunnies shouldn’t do especially one as little and young as him. After telling them that I didn’t feel comfortable they immediately went on to telling me it would be $800+ just to do this procedure. Just to cut two teeth sets. Immediately canceled my appointment, while being told he was a bite risk and this was completely normal. They are uninformed on Rabbits and honestly all animals. I wouldn’t take any pets here and will make the drive to anywhere else rather than use Animal and Avian.

My biggest regret was not looking at the reviews! I would never recommend this place! I called at 9 in the morning for a sick visit for my dog(has an infected paw) and they told me all sick appointments were already taken, but I could drop my dog off for the day and they would CAGE HIM until someone could see him. I even asked if I could sit in the car with him and they said no they would have keep him in the CAGE until it was his turn. It was okay during Covid to come get my dog out of the car but they couldn't do that instead of CAGING him! I moved into the neighborhood thought I would give them a chance but I would rather drive then having my dog put in a CAGE for the day just for a infected paw! The front desk is awful! They gave me his records and lied o about our conversations. I Love my dog way too much to put him in a Cage for the day!!! Lesson learned please read reviews before you try a new Vet!!!

Last year my bearded dragon became very ill. This animal hospital did everything they could in order to try to save her. The one vet (Dr. Wilson) even began researching a procedure that she has never performed before to see if she would be able to do it. In the end she thought the best decision was for me to go to a vet who has had more experience with this surgery. They continued to give her fluids and make sure she was okay during the recovery process. I am forever grateful for all the time and care that they put into my bearded dragon and I plan to make this my vet office for years to come.

We have taken our dog, Allie there for 16 years now. The service we have received in the last year or so has been horrific. Useless tests, rude doctors, (you can go to another vet but they won't be able to tell you what's wrong either) and just downright rude. Front office staff is overwhelmed and you are put on hold for 15 minutes or longer and eventually just hang up. Once you do get through there is a month wait for an appt. It's very said that Dr. Corrigan has left this practice. She is the only vet that we had any faith in. Sadly, as Dr. Corrigan has left we will be taking Allie and our business elsewhere. Not sure they even deserve one star.

I’ve periodically used this facility while visiting relatives. The staff has always been very professional and helpful. It’s not always easy to get appointments when you aren’t local and on a time crunch, but they have always done what they could to work with me to get my pet seen when needed. The knowledge, courteous nature of the staff and all around general way that they care about your pet makes them a top notch business in my book. I would truly recommend this facility to everyone.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR BIRD HERE. On 11-1-21 me and my fiance took our blue and gold macaw in for a beak and nail trim with DR WILSON. When they came from the back we noticed our birds nail cut was cut too short and caused it to start bleeding. They fixed it and we checked out. We got home and took him out of his travel cage. We immediately called back due to our birds wing drooping. They said it was stress and told us call tomorrow. We called 11-2-21 and we were given the run around by Dr Wilson and staff. We were told to take out bird elsewhere while denying everything. We took our bird to a Exotic specialist who stated force would of been needed to break his wing in this fashion. A week later and 2500$ later our bird is recovering. This place has no compassion for what they did while he was under their supervision.

Good, caring people. They saved my golden retriever last evening when he half swallowed a chuck it ball and it lodged in his throat and he was barely breathing. They worked quickly to get him in, sedate him and get the ball out. He made a full recovery and is his usual crazy self this morning. Without Animal & Avian's quick actions, I don't think my boy would have made it. Thank you.

Failed to perform full check up, broke my rabbit’s claw, wrote prescription for wrong medication and has refused to call back after 4 calls to correct. You can tell even just that management only responds to 5star reviews that they don’t care about you or your pets. Save yourselves the trouble and go anywhere else. Edit: Here’s a bit of an update. My rabbit got an infection from the claw they ripped out, they refused to see him and he nearly died as a result. Fortunately we were able to get antibiotics from a different vet but he still suffered tremendously at the hands of this vet. Fast forward a month or so and my rabbit is showing signs of an eye infection, so this vet was the only place I could find with any availability, they tell us to drop him off as an emergency visit with a large deposit. After several calls and SIX HOURS later they hadn’t even started looking at him yet. Once Dr.Palomar actually begins examining our rabbit she fails to do anything with his eye infection and for some untold reason rips out another of his nails. I rightfully give her a hard time about this and demand that she provide the antibiotic for his nail, which the front desk then demands to charge me for. Dr.Palomar may advertise to be a rabbit specialist but this is only true if you consider attempted animal murder a speciality. From my experience and the experiences I’ve read of so many other people’s reviews of this establishment I’m shocked they’re not riddled with malpractice law suits. Take your loving pets literally anywhere else.

I cannot believe that lack of compassion and professionalism this office / staff had- truly disgusting. My dogs have been loyal patients to this practice for many years. This past weekend was one of the worst days of our lives. We had taken my little girl for an exam the day prior due to her not feeling well, was called with results saying to start some medications and let them know if things don’t improve. Overnight she took a terrible turn for the worst and we rushed her back to the office first thing in the morning. My dog was carried into the office in a blanket practically lifeless - myself and husband crying begging for someone to look at her - THEY REFUSED !!!! Saying they did not have enough staff and to take her to the Emergency vet 30 minutes away! You had no problem taking our $600 the day before and now you can’t even be bothered to look at my dog as she’s barley breathing? Our fur baby ended up passing away - diagnosed at another vet with an infection / issue your office completely looked over. Not only is the trauma of loosing a very beloved pet hard enough but turning us away like nothing and making us scramble driving to other cities to help her was sickening. Our hearts are shattered.

Please never take your fur babies to this sick vet. In 2019 we took our boy in for a simple teeth cleaning. They ended up pulling 9 of his teeth, his heart stopped and they kept going and his heart stopped again. This situation could’ve been avoided if they just did the cleaning instead of pulling majority of his teeth and stopped the procedure once his heart stopped the first time. They killed our baby boy beagle. Our recent girl beagle just got sick and we were gonna take her here because it was an emergent event and they didn’t care about her well being they just cared about money and how we needed to put $400 down as a deposit. This place is so pitiful and please don’t ever take ur fur babies here, they deserve to be taken to a place that actually cares about them.

Forgot to give our puppy heartworm pills every month. They would close much earlier than posted and that closing time would change regularly

We've been taking our dogs and lizards here for 18 years. As staff as changed, the care has not. We've experienced everything from scheduled reptile surgery to emergency surgery for our dogs. Never once had any problems occurred out of there control. Communication has always been wonderful. We are thankful for Dr Corrigan and staff for everything they have done for us. I will never return again. Cathy Palomar, DVM seems to be fearful of animals which caused my anxious dog to be more anxious. What was even worse was having to wear a mask in a county that had 42 cases and 0 deaths last week of 185,000 residents. Not a very welcoming environment at all.

Best place. I will only take my animals here. My one dog is very selective and will only let Dr Wilson see her. My animals are in good hands with them.

I've taken a guinea pig here for URI and my bearded dragon for parasites. Both made a full recovery. Staff was following all safety procedures during the pandemic, which was great. It was a bit weird passing off my bearded dragon for his very first vet visit, but they were gentle and knowledgeable. I've brought him here a few times now and all the tips/advice I've gotten from them have been helpful.

This business simply has no idea what they are doing with reptiles. Sanitation is not that great for a animal hospital. Doctor if you wanna say that had a horrible attitude, as well as a confrontational one. She cut me off multiple times and was not gentle with my reptile whatsoever . On top of that her info was just plain wrong . There's a difference between experience in a field and a degree in a field and I'll just leave it at that. I've also heard from multiple people and reptiles businesses , and reviews that you guys have many issues . I've posted publicly online other reviews of your poor workmanship, and lack of knowledge . I suggest you guys get it together before the majority figures out the problems you guys have and you sink. Some beyond concerning reviews about this company .

Staff is overwhelmed, when you call you are on hold until you give up ( I gave it 15 minutes). I had appointments that didn't get in their book, this happened twice with two of my dogs. They gave me the wrong medication for my dog, it's a good thing I checked before giving it to her. The vet I went to was suddenly not working there anymore and I would like to have known that before committing to the surgeries she did so she could follow up with my dog. There was an issue with putting my pets records in their system, they kept telling me things my pets were due for and they had already been done. I'm disappointed in their service and would change but I just updated all my animals.$$$$$$

My family has been taking our pets here for over 20 years. All the doctors do a great job and the staff is wonderful from the front of the house to the back of the house. Recently Dr. Corrigan took care of my old kitty in his last days and was thourough and honest with us. We will continue to use Animal and Avian for all our vet needs in the future.

We had our cat Sox for over 14 years who had all of his regular care done with this office. They never sold us any unnecessary procedures or tests. Our cat died at the ripe old age of 19 and never had any underlying conditions. We love this place so much that even after moving to the next county, we now take our 2 year old cat Zoey back to Dr. Martin at Animal and Avian because he is thorough, and honest. We love you guys and you'll be our first choice with ALL of the pets we have throughout our lives! Thank you for your excellent service.

I debated posting this, but I feel it’s important to warn others. Please be careful bringing in older or vulnerable cats for surgeries or overnight stays, as this establishment is not staying on top of sanitation. (The short version is this clinic got both my cats sick, my one cat was extremely ill and needed an immediate visit, and failed to take responsibility.) I brought my two cats in for two separate areas of concern, cat 1 for a swollen ear, and cat 2 for some mild stomach upset/vomiting. It was recommended that cat 1 get surgery for the hematoma in his ear. I agreed with this plan of treatment. A week later, cat 1 went in for surgery and came back in what appeared to be good shape. I feel it is important to note that cat 1 was/is vaccinated and that when I dropped him off for surgery I was asked a series of questions about him, one being if he had been sneezing of any other signs of upper respiratory issues. I stated no as he hadn’t, and both cats had been seen a week prior confirming their health. A day and a half after being home, cat 1 began sneezing constantly and his eye began to water excessively. I promptly called the doctor concerned. I was told that the antibodies he was on for his surgery would help. I followed the treatment plan and cat 1 began to feel better. However days later, cat 2 began to show similar signs and was becoming lethargic. I called the vet the day after stating my second cat was showing symptoms, and asked about getting some antibodies. The vet said antibodies wouldn't work, and to bring the cat in if he got worse. Cat 2 got extremely sick and lethargic, would not move, just slept with eyes rolled back and mouth open gasping. Obviously distraught I called again to schedule an appointment. They got me in the next morning. From there, they denied ownership of my cats getting sick from their facility, and began blaming me stating cat 2 wasn’t vaccinated and that’s why he got sick. Complete ignoring the fact that the cat that went into their care was fully vaccinated and STILL got sick. The fact that they got my cats sick, and then had the audacity to blame me is complete shameful. I am incredibly disappointed with the treatment me and my animals received. Further proof of their lack of sanitation is their use of their thermometers. During the first vet visit they used it then put it right back in the drawer. Second visit, the vet disinfected it right before putting it away. Watch what they do with it during your appointment.

Horrible! Hubby and I are adopting a shar pei and took her to animal and avian with the rescue we were getting her from to get her shots. They were rough with her and wondered why she got aggressive with them. Then as if to discourage us …

They were happy to take in my 7ft boa within 5 days of my phone call as opposed to the one only other vet office that I called, that would even entertain the offer of such a task, which was over a month booked. Even during our follow up visit, other members of their staff, unrelated to my initial visit, asked how he was doing. I couldn’t be happier and would recommend them and only them to anybody reading my review!

My wife took our four cockatiels there for a nail trimming and was turned away from our scheduled appointment because she had her eight-year-old stepdaughter with her. They said only one adult can be in the building for a visit, she could obviously not leave a child unattended in the car, and we’re not going to just simply drop our pets off without being there to watch over their appointment. Over excessive restrictions, and completely unnecessary restrictions. When I called for an explanation, the person I spoke with was completely rude and had an attitude. The doctor refused to take my call. I would rate this is a highly unprofessional experience. We love supporting local businesses, unfortunately we will never be back. If that’s how they treat humans, I’m a little concerned how they would treat our animals.

I just wanted to give a shout out to Animal and Avian here. I have been on the phone for almost a week trying to find someone to see my cockatiel who broke his leg. With everything going on and me taking on 2 extra children, this couldn't have happened at the absolute worst time. So finally I was able to get him an appointment to access what my options were. I feared I was going to have to make the decision to actually amputate or worse put him down. I had enough for the exam and maybe a bit more. I just wanted him seen. They made it to where I could get the help he needed! He is in the hospital until Wednesday to see how the splint is going to work and we will access again in 2 weeks to see if surgery is necessary. The vet even took the time to take my call to check on him today! Awesome people there! Being the only avian vet here in Brunswick, I couldn't be more thankful!!
