Great place who take time with you and your pets! The time the staff took with my dog before and after surgery was amazing. The attention to detail and the great customer service is incredible. I would recommend this vet to anyone.

My boyfriend and I were visiting family from 3 hours away for Thanksgiving and had to bring Kitt, our 10.5 month old Doberman, in for a visit because she was experiencing diarrhea and vomiting for over a day. We were so impressed with our visit to Salty Paws! Dr. Fannin was awesome. She gave Kitt an injection for her nausea and sent us home with antibiotics, tablets as needed, and some special gastro food to feed her for the time being. She explained everything in depth and made us feel super informed and comfortable with everything. After we left, our girl was feeling back to her old self. If we didn’t live so far away we’d be switching vets for our dogs!

Couldn't be more pleased with Dr Edwards! She's so compassionate with our two sweet, shy pups. Everyone from office staff, vet techs, and Dr Edwards were just great. Love this veterinary practice!

I have taken pets to numerous veterinary clinics over the years and have experienced good service and caring and knowledgeable professionals. However, it wasn't until I was lucky enough to find Salty Paws that I realized just how much better things could be for my pets' health care. From the folks managing things at the front desk to what goes on with lab work, exams, surgery, and, follow- up care, I had never experienced such a fun, caring, informed, and smart group of people before that all come together for me and my pets. I appreciate each one so much and honestly can't think of how my experiences can be better.

Doctors and staff are the best around! Everyone is so helpful, and take the stress out of stressful situations. Thank you all for being there, and all the hard work you do!

I brought my Wheaten, Hazel, in because she was vomiting blood. Dr. Blessing was so thorough, provided me with the medication she needed, and what to expect. The next day she called to check on Hazel's progress. I really appreciate the genuine care showed to both Hazel and I during what looked like a crisis.

They were very kind and considerate of my Great Dane's needs. She is a very anxious dog at the Vet's; they allowed us to do the visit outside to calm her down. Thank you so much Dr Edwards for your care.

There ok prices are way to high for a visit 200$ for a 3 min check up on a dog no test included just for medications you can buy from the store for a cheaper price staff has a good attitude and very nice other than that

This place is great! Great staff and they are FEAR FREE and stand behind it! They do not want to put your pet through any extra, unnecessary stress.

They got my cat in with a same day appointment. She received awesome care and they are still working on getting her well even a week after her appointment.

I've taken both of my cats here for years and I love them. Everyone is so caring and helpful. They are great at making my problem cat comfortable and reducing the stress of going to the vet as much as possible.

Wow! I just moved to the area and have a pup who came down with a bad stomach bug. I was struggling to find a vet to see us on short notice--most places I called referred me to emergency vets instead. Salty Paws was super responsive and flexible, and they were able to see us within 2 hours of me calling! They said there may be a lengthy wait since we were an emergency appointment, which I understood, but we ended up getting seen within 15 minutes of arriving. The appointment was thorough while also being quick and efficient. My dog got fluids and some meds while we were there, and we left with more medication and clear instructions. The bill was very reasonable, even with an 'emergency appointment fee' (although this fee is wayyyy less than what I would've ended up paying at an emergency clinic). All of the staff were professional, kind, and understanding. I HIGHLY recommend this clinic, and I hope we can make this our go-to vet! (Also, my dog doesn't do great around other dogs, and the front desk staff offered to come and get us from the car when our appointment time came!)

We've had nothing, but good experiences from our time at Salty Paws. Everyone is always friendly and helpful through the good times and the bad. I would recommend Salty Paws to anyone looking for caring professionals to take care of their four legged family members.

I really can't say enough about this practice. I foster with Lil Roar and I have a sick little babygirl that I could not get in at any local vets (Portsmouth/VB). Another foster recommended Salty Paws even though it is a drive and I am so happy I went. They were very friendly on the phone, they got me an appointment the NEXT DAY, the doctor was super nice and had a student with her, and the bill was more than affordable. They do free exams for rescues so that's amazing! I got ripped off and taken advantage of at another vet, and the ENTIRE visit here was less than JUST the same medication at the other vet. I will definitely use them again in the future in order to save the rescue money, and I will recommend them to anyone without hesitation!

For only a nail trim and expressed glands, the cost was $50 (I’m used to $23 full service groom with a mobile groomer). My dog weighs 10lbs. That price seemed excessive especially since he didn’t even get bathed and one of his back toenails was bleeding. I only noticed and brought it to technicians attention bc I saw blood on my dress. She put powder on it quickly. He was fine. I came in for a boo boo on his lip and left with a bill of $268. In addition to steroid for abrasion on lip he was given apoquel & ear drops. Since these allergies are ongoing, hopefully next time I can just call in for more meds rather than pay all the extra fees by coming in to be seen. Very busy and hectic on day of appointment. We got in same day though due to a cancellation which I appreciated. People were running around everywhere in the back. Maybe this rushing is why the nail was cut to the quick. I like the staff but prices seemed extra steep this visit (groom, exam fee, ear smear.. meds were reasonably priced though). Will still return. The care is top notch.

Came here for a follow up from my dog having a heat stroke at a pet co. Explain to them that’s why I was here and after the exam the vet came out talking about allergies and after talking about the allergies walked off so I couldn’t even talk to her about the real reason I was there witch was for the heat stroke. Not to mention that I had a appointment at 11:30am and didn’t get seen until 2pm because they messed up the date I had the appointment for just a very disappointing experience and I hope in the future they listen to there customers!

We were in Yorktown on our boat as we travel up the Chesapeake and our dog had a couple of issues that needed to be checked out. They were able to give us an appointment the same day. Because of difficulty getting an Uber, we ended up changing our appointment time and then getting there way too early. We were able to see Dr. Blessing shortly after we arrived. Our dog happily went in the back and got checked out and had blood work done. One issue was addressed with treatment and the other issue was explained, with bloodwork done to check for further issues. Dr. Blessing called the next morning with the results. Great practice, great vet.

You were amazing. Thank you so much for looking at the 2 week old kitten left by its mom. We appreciate you seeing us on the day we called. We would not change a thing about your care!

Our dog collapsed unexpectedly and Salty Paws was able to get us in first thing in the morning (we had never been there before because we had just moved to the area). They were quick, compassionate, and helped us make a difficult decision to put our dog down. They were able to be flexible so that I could get my kids from school & waited for me to get out of work so that we could all be there to say our goodbyes. They were very sweet & made it much easier on our family during the difficult time.

Our cat is very very anxious and so he does not do good at the vet. We decided to try Salty Paws and they were WONDERFUL. They treated our cat like a friend, even though he wasn't super friendly. They kept him calm and happy for his exam. If you are at all worried about your pet around strangers, go here. They will take care of your pets with patience, kindness, and love. Thank you all! We'll be back!!
