VCA Animal Hospital West Winston Salem, North Carolina

This was our first time at this vet for an annual checkup after recently moving to the area. The technician was great with both me and my dog and was really nice. The vet however didn't know if my dog was a girl or boy or if they had any history at all. He clearly didn't look at the file before coming in. He proceeded to not care about their fear responses to his actions or try alternate methods to do his exam. We will be finding a new vet. Additionally, the location has large bushes to the left of the exit that block the view of the oncoming cars and no other exit. You have to pull into the street to be able to see the oncoming traffic. Please fix this for the safety of those leaving your office.

I took my cat a week ago to the vet for diarrhea and vomiting. A week later, my cat is dead due to the doctors giving him fluids he couldn’t pee out and their incompetence at finding a tumor in his bladder, claiming there was no blockage and that he was simply “too stressed.” We spent more than 2000$ combined in medicine. Staff was friendly, but they sure made a quick buck out of my poor cat. I expect our ashes to be ready soon if they even remember we paid for a private cremation, which judging from the way the doctor talked while we put him down, there seems to be little communication on what we paid for anymore. Update: They initially gave us the wrong ashes too. Just go to Reynolda. Unprofessional and they lack critical equipment.

Had an issue with a sick pet while I was out of town. They staff here were great! They were very caring with my fur baby and the doctor was awesome! Thank you for taking good care of her!

My daughter rescued a 3 week old kitten, which had some serious issues and we weren't sure if she would make it. VCA accepted her case and treated her with so much love and care. Fast forward 4 weeks, now "Scarlett" is a thriving beautiful little lady. Thanks VCA for the love and care they provided.

Andy is the most memorable person. The attention and level of care from all of the professionals there is amazing. We may not have loved having to take our animal in to be seen, but we loved the service.

Would not recommend this place by far my dog has Addison’s and epilepsy. She’s gotten used to two different doctors there that have just up and left with no exclamation no heads up nothing. On top of that there was a lady at the front staff who’s only about money I was told my dog could get a free shot for the inconvenience of the doctor leaving if I bring the medicine & I bring the needle all they need to do is help me give it to her its her hormone shot. The lady literally told me I couldn’t have my dog back until I pay five dollars. I have never in my life!!! Y’all should have seen me ???? anyways they are about money and the turn over for vets are horrible none stay! Wouldn’t recommend

Dr. Jones, Andi, Crystal, Sherine and all staff..WOW..because of their care, expertise and kindness my Diesel was appropriately dx and although his life here is short, he is in the best hands. They treat Bella and Hansi so good and follow up on all treatment plans and procedures. I appreciate the upfront estimates and honesty for procedures and informing me when testing is unnecessary. Ich mag es auch, einen deutschen Tierarzt zu haben. Sehr schön, etwas Deutsch zu sprechen. Love this group

I compared prices for a basic surgery with 3 local vets and VCA was off the charts. Just some basic testing was over a grand !

They are very careful with cats and dogs. We have been taking our pets here for more than 15 years. They've never have had mistreated the animals they handle.

The Care Club makes vet visits easy and less painful. I really enjoy the entire staff and they all know my dog by name. He feels comfortable; I feel comfortable; it's a win.

Professional staff and they care.

The staff is extremely friendly but they lie. They tell you to be apart of a club so u can pay monthly and tell you lies about what's included and then when you try to use the service they act as if no one told you that information and it's too late.so your forced to pay.

Great with people and animals

I have had 3 appointments scheduled for my kitten at VCA West in the last month, two of which have been needed to be rescheduled per the offices request. They fail to tell you when signing up for the Care Club that the monthly prices on the phamplets are incorrect. Overall the office is clean and their staff are knowledgeable and friendly, but there are clearly issues that need to be resolved.

I have been taking my Dog there for 4.75 years. In my opinion, this facility is a large vacuum cleaner pointing towards your wallet. Last visit, I spent 285.00 for my dogs skin condition. Anti Biotics that Dr Taylor said would help did nothing. How about that, in 15 minutes they got me for 285.00 plus the continuous text messages telling me my dog needs all these shots is just another way they make money? Have you ever heard of any vet charging 17.50 to cut nails on a dog? This facility also cannot keep Vets on staff. Every visit another new Vet. My advice, steer clear of this practice at all costs

I love this place! It starts of great when you have entrances designated for cats and dogs. I think the separate waiting rooms are such a treat. I don't have to worry about my puppy losing her mind trying to get to a cat. The staff is also very knowledgeable and friendly. I have signed up for the care club and it is such a great deal and has paid for itself already. I love how they don't rush and they take the time to go over any questions and concerns I might have as well as volunteering information. It's nice to not have to worry about if you are asking the right questions because they make sure you are armed with knowledge. I also appreciate how they don't want to vaccinate multiple things at once to keep from having reactions or after hour complications. I highly recommend this office.
