The staff are always so kind and professional. I’ve been coming here since 2020. I had a dying doodle and had not gotten a local vet after moving here. I was still driving 2 hours one way to my old vet for routine needs. Many places were not accepting new clients. Well, Wilmington Animal Hospital accepted us and we’ve been coming here ever since. They are wonderful!! Highly recommend!

I've only been using this veterinary hospital for a couple of months, but everyone I've talked to on the staff has been responsive and professional. Because of COVID restrictions, they are not allowing owners to come into the building. However, they have been efficient in picking up pets from their parking lot and are thorough in communicating results with me after examinations. The doctor spent a lot of time with me over the phone, and the staff has met every request I've made. I'm very happy with this hospital.

Recently my 15 year old dog became suddenly very ill. I drove to my Vet's office only to find they were closed due to 85% of their staff being out with COVID. In my regular Vet's absence, and on a wish and a prayer, I decided to try Wilmington Animal Healthcare Veterinary Hospital. I had never had any of my pets there previously. When I walked in I was very distraught. The front desk was so helpful and understanding. They took us right away. The medical assistant and Dr. were amazing and very kind. They were so sympathetic, helpful, patient and caring. They treated us as if we were regular patients. To say they gave us all the attention and time we needed is an understatement. The Dr. offered alternatives to help me decide what was best for my boy. Due to his medical condition, age and advanced dementia, which couldn't be reversed, I decided to say goodbye to my sweet boy. The Dr. & assistant made us both as comfortable as possible during this most difficult time. For that, I am most appreciative and grateful. (Unfortunately, due to my state of mind at the time, their names escape me.) I couldn't have asked for better treatment for both of us. They made a bad situation as tolerable as possible. From the front desk, to the assistant, to the Dr. I thank you ladies from the bottom of my heart. My pets have been patients at my other Vet's office for 10 years. I have always been very happy with them, but must say I am seriously considering changing Vet's. I cannot say enough good about this establishment.

I can't say enough good things about the vetinary side of the business but the boarding side falls way short. We used them for the second time over the Christmas Holidays and when we picked up our german shepard the workers in the boarding area told us how good of a dog he was. On the ride home I noticed one of his toe nails was bleeding. I called and told them what was going on, I was wanting to know mainly how to treat it, and was put on hold for the manager. I spoke to her and repeated what I had told the other person. I said that maybe his nail was cut to short and when walking on the pavement caused ity to bleed. She told me it hadn't been cut to short and proceeded to tell me how bad a dog he was. Not sure what happen but we noticed a difference in his behavior that night and now he spends a lot of time hiding under our tables and desks. We also wanted him bathed and when we got home I had to brush out all the hair shedded. I will continue to use the vet but NEVER the boarding service again.

Wilmington Animal Healthcare is our regular vet for our cat Barney. We brought him in last Friday as a follow up to a trip to the emergency clinic the previous weekend for what turned out to be a urinary/bladder inflammation that is persisting. The best parts of our visit to Wilmington Animal Healthcare were (as always) the level of care Barney received, the diagnostic information we received, and the invested interest we felt from Dr. Rossini in developing a plan to adequately monitor the situation and help Barney to recover. In fact, we liked Dr. Rossini so much that we've asked to have her become Barney's primary vet. The worst parts of our visit, and hence the 3 star rating, were the indications of poor internal communication and/or training issues within the Wilmington Animal Healthcare organization, and that this is not the first time we've detected this issue. Specifically, we had called earlier in the week to confirm that the instructions we'd received over the weekend at the emergency clinic were endorsed by Wilmington Animal Healthcare, and as part of that discussion we were told that our primary vet would receive a note asking her to call us to discuss Barney's situation when she was next in the office. When we called several days later because things were not improving, we learned that our primary vet had indeed worked the previous two days but never called us. Did she not get the message? Did she not have time? We don't know, but she is no longer our primary vet. As part of this second conversation to determine what we could do to help Barney recover, it was decided that we should do a "morning drop off" for Barney the following day. We were told this would mean arriving between 7:30 and 9:00 am to drop him off, that he would be sedated due to his past history of anxiety, examined later in the day following the scheduled surgeries, and that we would then talk to the vet. When we arrived at 7:30am Barney was checked in but we were asked to stay as Dr Rossini was available then to immediately look at Barney and would want to talk to us. Over the course of the next 1.5 hours we were kept well informed of what was happening in the back rooms, but we already knew, as the wailing and howling made it clear when Barney was being examined. Dr Rossini came out to share the results of her examination and diagnostic work, and then worked with us to more completely understand Barney's history and situation so we could together develop a plan for helping him to recover as quickly as possible. But when during the conversation Dr Rossini suggested that the next time Barney came in they might need to sedate him to be able to do a thorough examination, it became clear that she never knew that the original plan had been to do exactly that. Why didn't Dr Rossini or the vet tech working with us know that? Are pet owners supposed to make sure the plan developed at Wilmington Animal Healthcare on one day has been communicated to personnel the next day? We hope not, and we are willing to stick with this organization because of the positives we experience and the hope that someone will read this review and attempt to work on this very fixable situation.

My golden had a nasty ear infection and Dr. Lewis and her team truly helped us and gave us good care. My dog ever has a fear of going to the vet and finds that he is always happy even after getting his shots and meds. We will recommend. My only note to new patients is that they are a very busy vet place so it can be chaotic but worth it. Thank you for taking care of my fur-baby!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff at Wilmington Animal Healthcare. Their staff has always gone above and beyond to make sure their pet patients (and their parents) are well taken care of. Their staff always calls following any visits to make sure everything is going well and make sure there is nothing else that should be done. We choose to make the 45 minute drive to visit them (while passing other vets along the way) simply because our pups have always been well taken care of there.

The technician explained all the testing that "should" be done that day in Tucker's best interest, what they were and why they were important. I felt comfortable going ahead with the test, despites the high cost. Let's face it, everything at the vet's these days costs a lot, and it is not the fault or at the discretion of the practice. That is just what it costs. Dr. Horne explains in detail the findings of the tests and what they mean to Tucker. She listens to my concerns and addresses them seriously. A very wonderful staff. I feel very comfortable bringing my babies there. Sharon White, Tucker and Baby Girl (to be seen there soon).

I have so many good things to say about this animal hospital. During my dogs painful passing, the staff and doctors were amazing, caring, thorough, sweet, generous and thoughtful. I was able to reach Dr. Horne at anytime, and when she went on vacation she completely filled in Dr. Paige who also did an excellent job with Blue. Countless times we came in without an appointment. Dr. Horne and Dr. Paige worked tirelessly, devoting their weekends and going over hours of operation to meet our needs. I can’t thank them enough for the effort they put in. They never gave up on Blue even though he was 12 years old. They treated him like family and made the process as easy as they could for me. Without this caring and supportive staff, I wouldn’t have been able to give Blue the goodbye our family needed. They kept him comfortable and did everything they could in their power. They never tried to oversell a product or waste our time. They do a phenomenal job with our other two dogs as well. Even during Covid, this hospital preformed flawlessly, with compassionate and caring staff. Would recommend to anyone. Thanks again. <3

My two dogs are always so excited to come here for daycare! They don’t look back at me even once to say goodbye.
