SG is such a wonderful place. I've been volunteering there for 4 years now on Sundays and can honestly say it's good for the soul. The joy shared by everyone at this organization when a dog finds its new home just makes life better. There are countless ways to be involved and you might make a few 2 or 4 legged friends along the way!

We wanted so badly to have a good experience with Saving Grace. The dog we wanted to adopt had more underlying medical issues that we were initially led to believe. After feeling pressured to adopt him anyway, we pushed back and ended up bringing him home as a medical foster. We had to bring him back to the farm to have stitches removed from his face. They were removed by a Saving Grace employee (not a vet or vet tech) in the parking lot with a phone flashlight and used a suture remover. After this dog had been in our home for approximately two weeks, he bit a family friend, leaving a 4 inch mark on his upper arm. When we called Saving Grace to report this they claimed not to know what to do and said this had never happened before. After the dog was taken and ultimately put down by Animal Control, we returned to Saving Grace to try to adopt again. One of the employees told me that it was my fault that the dog bit someone because we didn't crate him at night and we had him on a leash (outside of our home), which left me in tears. After this experience we decided that we would no longer be able to work with Saving Grace. I truly believe Saving Grace is trying to do a good thing, but the sheer volume of dogs means that they don't really know the animal they are sending into your home and they don't have resources to help you when you run into issues post-adoption. Unfortunately, our negative experience didn't seem to be met with much compassion or understanding when we spoke to employees.

I adopted my dog Winston here 6 months ago now, and I could not be happier! The staff was helpful and informative in aiding me in my choice. I always recommend Saving Grace to anyone looking to adopt!

BUYER BEWARE: There is a strain of kennel cough at this shelter that turns into pneumonia and they don't properly quarantine new dogs. We had our dog for 4 days before he became so sick he needed to be admitted to the vet for 3 days with an IV and a catheter. We didn't even name him until 2 weeks after getting him because we didn't know if he'd make it. Our vet said they see this frequently from Saving Grace. One woman even just returned her puppy around Christmas because she couldn't afford the bill for the pneumonia. The vet said she wishes SG would shut down for a couple weeks and quarantine the dogs until the kennel cough is gone. I also thought the whole adoption process was sketchy. They charge an arm and a leg even though they do the same routine care that other shelters do. When we arrived to pick up our dog for the first time, they didn't even want to go over his health information before I paid the fee and signed the contract. I insisted they talk to me about his health (vaccines he received, any health concerns they found in their exam, etc...) and they seemed impatient with me and tried to say we'd go over after the paperwork was signed. It was all very suspicious to me. My advice, before adopting from this location, call some local Raleigh vets and ask how many Saving Grace dogs they see that are sick within days of coming home. It might be eye opening for you. It also might save you some money and some heartbreak.

Great experience they were amazing and it was refreshing to see people so caring, passionate about animals especially those dogs. We can't wait to adopt from them in the future.

The reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because we called ahead & viewed their puppies online. When we got there they didn't have either 1 of the dogs we went to see. Instead of them telling us that they have a designated day just for puppies, they waited until we saw all the dogs they had to say something. Now don't get me wrong I did have fun with the other dogs, but we were there for a specific dog.....ok I'll give 3 stars, but only because I would go back. Heck.....I will be going back on puppy day. Who knows I might be changing some things.

Honestly was really excited about adopting a puppy they have here. Application process was quick we got a response and we’re able to schedule an appointment with in the same day but I told them I really needed to know price range for what they charge for adoption. They charge $380 cash or $395 credit card. Rescues normally don’t charge over $150. I find them incredibly expensive for rescue animals. I’ve worked with shelters and finished my vet assistant program and never seen animal rescue charging that much. Bummer that we couldn’t adopt even though we had been approved upon our application due to the cost of a rescue animal. I also read further about them having sick animals they are “adopting” out I would read into that too before going further with them. SPCA does vaccines as well so don’t let anyone tell you they charge an arm and a leg for a rescue animal due to “medical care”. Good luck to anyone adopting

This is the most amazing rescue facility I've ever seen. The dogs get free play time to interact with each other and people. All sizes and mixes, facility was clean and animals well cared for and attended to. We're going back at some point.

In January 2021 we found our new girl at Saving Grace. It was our first adoption. It was the best decision we could make. The staff and facility are fantastic. It is very obvious they care about animals. Fees are a little steep but when you see what they do for the animals they rescue, you see it goes to a great cause.

We recently adopted a “companion” from Saving Grace in Wake Forest. We searched many rescues within a 350 mile radius of Charlotte, NC and this was the best one. The facility was very well maintained, the volunteers were very helpful and gave us great advice on adopting our new companion. The animals there receive excellent care and medical attention. We highly recommend “rescue “ AND this wonderful facility.

Operations could be better. They had us make an appointment for the following week to come adopt a dog because he was in foster care part of the week prior. We were told that we needed to bring the whole family (kids and dog) to do a meet and greet. 10 minutes before we arrived for our appointment, they adopted out the dog we drove 40 minutes to pick up. We literally pulled in the parking lot and saw the dog we came to get being put into someone else’s car. Zero empathy from most of the staff as we were basically told tough luck in a canned response type of way. I understand they don’t hold dogs for potential adoptions, but it’s disappointing since we were working around their unavailability the week prior.

It’s very obvious Saving Grace takes such wonderful care of their animals. AND the dogs are SO CUTE! The application process is quick and I love that they allow your pet to meet other dogs to help in choosing the perfect pet for you! Excited to meet the dogs in-person soon!

Don't trust this place. I had a horrible experience. They were dishonest about my dog's illness and temperament. I love my dog fast forward 6 months. She was deathly ill on day 4 of being home due to a lung infection that cost over $1000 to treat. I was wondering why after telling me to wait a week to pick her up, they messaged me 4 days later asking me to pick her up within the hour telling me she'd "be so much happier at home". I lived 2.5 hrs away so that wasn't an option. Once my girl healed and got her energy back I realized her anxiety was crazy and she was severely reactive to dogs. Funny, the website says they guarantee dogs are screened from temperament and socialized. Hmm. Another $1000, training is going awesome and we are working on her issues. If I was a mom I wouldn't be able to put in all the time working with Gobi. Hence, why honesty is important. Now as of today, my dog who was spayed given that hefty $380 adoption fee, is now in heat. I'm tired. My poor dog...opened up to not be spayed properly. Plenty of other good places to adopt from! I don't regret getting my dog, but I'm upset that they were dishonest.

This place is absolute paradise! What an amazing place for dogs. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Very knowledgeable when it came to answering our many questions about how to introduce a new dog to our grieving pup. The garden and plants are all so gorgeous as well. I want to come here everyday!

Wonderful visit with the dogs and puppies! The staff/volunteers were so kind and friendly and all three of my kids (ages 5y, 3y, 1y) has a safe and enjoyable visit. We plan to be back soon to adopt a fur baby!

Let me start by saying we absolutely LOVE our sweet pup, and she’s the bestest girl in the world! But this review is not about our pup. It’s about the issues we had with Saving Grace. We fell in love with a dog on their website, and booked an appt. The dog we found was adopted prior to our appt. This isn’t SG’s fault, and they warn you that it’s likely to happen. We found another 4-5 pups we liked, and went to meet them. We arrived, and there are some dogs out and about, but none were the ones we’d seen online. After wandering (we weren’t those only ones) for about 30 mins, I finally found a volunteer and asked how we can meet some of the other pups. We were told to just hang out until someone was free. 15 minutes later, a volunteer came to assist us. We said we wanted a dog who would fit our active lifestyle but would be ok in an apartment and get along with our cats. We named a few of the pups we saw online. The volunteer said they didn’t have any dogs like that, and said to go look at their puppies. We entered the puppy area and I pretty much immediately spotted one I loved and asked to see her. I’d read like 200+ online reviews for SG, and most of the negative ones were folks misled, or surprised by pre-existing illnesses, conditions, etc. SO, I asked a lot of questions about the pup. I was told that they had absolutely no info about any of the puppies because they all just arrived that morning. I asked several questions, but was told that they just know is she’s 4-5 months old and arrived today. We asked so many questions but they still stuck to their story of “They’re plucked from shelters and we don’t know anything but their approx age. We can’t tell you anything because we don’t have any info”, and so on. We decide to adopt the pup. We’re led to the payment area, we pay, and she comes out with our receipt and paperwork. The volunteer said she has some medications to take and that we should visit the SG store to buy things. I said, “wait, medications, what for?” She said, “oh just routine stuff-she was spayed yesterday, so there’s meds for that”. She gave us a folder, which I started reading through. It also contained a medical history going back several weeks! She was on meds due to a surgery the day before, and she had a persistent cough for the last 5 weeks. The lady told us to just wrap the pills in cheese. Why weren’t we given this info BEFORE we paid? Why weren’t we told that this ‘calm’ pup was actually doped up on pain meds when we’d asked 10+ times before? Or that she had a cough that wouldn’t go away when we asked the first 10 times? At this point, I was fuming, but I’d fallen for the pup and we didn’t make a big deal of it. So we get home, keep her away from our cats until we can see our vet. Our vet did an exam and said to monitor the cold. Soon, our pup’s antibiotics run out, and the cold worsens-sneezing, coughing, etc. We take her back to the vet, get more meds. The vet says to avoid any dairy while she’s on the meds, as it can counteract the antibiotics. The meds were the same as we got at SG, so the person who told us to wrap the meds in cheese gave us incorrect info that counteracted the meds. A few days later, both cats start sneezing. Neither of the cats have ever had a cold. Ever. Not in the nearly 10yrs they’ve been alive. 2 days later, they both have full blown colds with the same symptoms as our pup had. Several vet appts, lots of meds, and a lot of $ later, all 3 pets still have a cold. Not only did SG conceal our pup’s condition and history from us until after we paid, they also gave incorrect advice that made for a slower and more costly recovery. SG says they’re doing this for the animals, but really, they’re doing it for profit. In a post on their social media account, they bragged about adopting out 133 dogs in 1 week. At $375 per pet that’s $50k in a week, and that seems to be the real reason they’re doing this. Please adopt a pet, just not from Saving Grace.

I did not fully understand their operation until I visited . It is the most unique rescue I have ever seen. It's ALL about what's best for the dog. You need to go check it out before you go anywhere else. It is a not for profit so, be kind and leave a donation.

Wonderful experience from start to finish. They were so organized and informative. The adoption fee is hefty, but my girl came spayed, with her first round of shots so it was well worth the extra money. Choosing a puppy was so much fun, too. We were immediately greeted by so many adorable pups, it was so hard to decide. 2 weeks after bringing my Poppy home, she’s in great health and thriving in her new home :)
