Very informative n professional on my 1st visit

My dog is very old (14), and gets overly excited around new dogs. We arrived to get his shots updated, and I sent my son in with our paperwork to get everything started while I waited outside with my dog until he had a room. There were a few leashed dogs inside, not many were kenneled. My dog is too big to be kenneled. He’s not aggressive, but when he’s excited he can drag me around. The vet assistants were super awesome. They came outside with treats, and gave Rocky his shots. They updated his paperwork, took the payment, and issued his replacement registration all while we walked around outside. Great customer service! The fees are reasonable, and they never tried to up-sale me on things we didn’t need.

Recently, my baby bearded dragon fell very ill and was seen by Dr. Knapp and his staff. The morning of his follow up appointment, my little guy passed away. I was completely devastated when I called to inform the staff that we would not need the follow up appointment because my sweet boy didn’t make it. I felt so ridiculous crying over a little bearded dragon but the staff was incredibly sweet and understanding. A few weeks later, I received a beautiful card, handwritten messages from the staff, two poems and a remembrance pin that I have kept on me since I received it. So much love, compassion and genuine care for the animals pours from this office! I’ll never take any of my babies anywhere but here. It’s a bit far from where I live in Norfolk but it’s worth the drive because everyone here is so so so so wonderful! I was taking my cats to a big chain vet and felt I was stuck there bc of their monthly plan. One of my cats grew more and more agressive the longer we went to the big chain vet to where they wouldn’t touch her without full sedation. I took my cats to Abbey Animal Hospital, signed them up for a wellness plan of equal value and the vet tech barely even had to hold the one who would go on murder sprees at the old vet. She growled to express her discontent but there was no violence. Professional, caring, well-trained vets and staff, and a calmer, quieter environment that allowed me to stay in the exam room with my cats kept my cat calm.

Compassionate and responsive veterinary care! I have been taking my two Scottish Terriers to Abbey Animal Hospital for a few years and have received professional care that keeps me coming back. The staff follows up with the treatment of your pet even after hours. They will provide options and choices for your furry family member!

My husband who is Africa American was walking into the goodwill & an employee from the animal hospital came outside of the building to ask him what exactly he is doing in the parking lot when he is located 5 ft from his vehicle? Now if this is not racially profiling at its finest i would love to see a better example of it because immediately after she confronted him all of the employees marched out of the building one by one to Double check that their vehicle is locked. Now if you want to support a business that has these kind of employees be my guest

Nice and updated office. All of the staff was very friendly and very accommodating to our pets needs. Think we found our new vet office!

I bring my 2 dogs & cat here for all their care . They love all the animals & they don’t break the bank on prices . I was at banfield & switched to abbey Great decision !

First time I went to Abby animal hospital my husband was in the hospital he had cancer they boarded my dog for me with no problems gave my dog his meds. And treated him like part of the family they didn't mind if I called to check on him cuz that's the first time my service dog had been away from me. We had to put down my 13 year old service dog. They help me find a doctor that would come to the house. Once again treating me like family and understanding. They're awesome. They're kind they're gentle and understanding. But the best part is the veterinarians there know what they're doing. And they work with you. When I recommend them 10,000%. I just got a new dog neighbor the first place I went and the only place I went. My buster loves to that and everybody that works there. Thank you Abby veterinary hospital you guys are awesome.

When I heard that Bob is no longer with Abbey I had reservations returning for grooming. Well, KELLY blew me away! My dogs look great, especially my girl (little bows on her ears). They also took to her like she was family. We now have a favorite groomer =)

This was my first time going to abbey! The staff is so kind, Emily took her time to explain what was going on with my dog & assisted in getting my baby girl feeling better! I am so appreciative of such a positive experience! I will definitely be coming to Abbey from now on :)

My first visit I was so impressed the staff was very knowledgeable and polite stab treated my pets like they were their own I couldn’t be happier I am so glad I found this place When I walked in I found the place very clean And that alone speaks for itself the vet was very pleasant answered all my questions what more can I ask for I’m very happy

I can't speak for their services, however I had a working interview here, and had tried calling to see if they were moving forward with my employment and Everytime I called, the manager refused to answer, and did not give me the decency of letting me know they had moved on. Recently, I saw a new job posting they had put up for the same position I applied for. This is extremely unprofessional, and very unethical to get a free days labor out of someone and not have the professionalism to call someone back

Everyone is very nice here! Sometimes you can't afford everything all at once for your babies, and at other vets I have been made to feel like a bad dog mom for not getting every single thing that they recommend done. HERE I didn't feel judged nor was I made to feel bad about needing to postpone some things until I could save up money. The Vet was so sweet and even gave my baby hugs and rubs, made him so very happy. He didn't even notice he was getting shots! I'm bringing my other two babies back here for sure!

Best. Vet. Ever. This veterinary practice not only takes the best care of our companion animals but also never loses sight of the fact that there is a worried human on the other side of the leash. They love my dog Lily...and she loves them. Highly recommend!!! Four paws up!!! (Lily's rating)

After trying a couple different vets, I found Abbey AH. The 1st place we tried was affordable but the wait was more than a kitten could handle. The 2nd vet saw us in a timely manner but none of the staff was friendly and they over charged the heck out of us. As soon as I called Abbey AH I was greeted with the friendliest young lady. Very helpful. Very affordable. They also offer monthly promotions on different services and products. I was a vet tech for 20+ years. I know a great Animal Hospital when I find one. I found it here!!!! Thank y’all for being so wonderful to Finnegan, me and my wallet. ????????❤️

Abbey animal hospital has been my vet of choice since moving to Va Beach in 2007. They are always kind and so good with my dogs. During COVID, they have made the process so painless, you schedule an appointment, pull up curbside, they take your furry friends, provide treatment, call to update and tell you price, and accept payment. Then return your pets. Delightful

I took our Rosemary and she received her shots. We love abbey and their staff. They called when they said they would. Smooth in and out process especially with covid. Perfect hospital for our angel.

Very hard to provide an accurate review as I have only spoke to the vet on the phone, my dog Ollie Anderson becoming a new patient during COVID. In my experience though the Vet is consistently behind or at least lacking in communication, it is hard to say without seeing the inner workings. What I do know is that on the select occasions I have taken him, I have arrived early for my scheduled appointments (scheduled in advance, not day of) and waited 20minutes (semi reasonable I guess considering COVID circumstances the first time) and 50minutes (I called at 45, still waiting currently.) I am now not convinced that they actually registered I was here when I let them know my dog was here 7mins early for his pre scheduled appointment time and unforfunately due to my previous experiences, I was already prepared for a small wait. Everyone works, and makes time to take care of their pets, but when I allocate half a day to have my dog do some bloodwork and refill his heartworm and flea meds, I dont expect to use an hour of it waiting for them to take him back. I am hesitant to finish this review as I generally believe this Vet cares and takes their work seriously, but I think people should be prepared for a long wait at this point. Update as I typed this out: My dog went back at 55 minutes from calling to let them know were outside.

I called in today to cancel the plan because my dog passed away this past weekend. They told me that my year contract cannot be canceled. First I was never told that second, DEATH should be a qualified reason to be able to cancel this plan. So now im gonna be paying 45 bucks a month until the end of the year. That is effin robbery. Take your money, take your pet and go elsewhere. Would NEVER recommend this place to ANYONE

They do not care about your pet. All they care about is money.

I bring my kittens here and they are very great so far! They are affordable and are good with communicating especially with COVID going on!

I've been bringing my pets here for years. From cats to ferrets, this place knows how to deal with all types of pets. In this time of COVID-19, they curbside pick up your animal and let you know how long it will be. Very convenient. Make an appointment and be sure to call when you pull up and let them know you're outside.

I recently moved here with my three dogs. Thankfully I found Abbey Animal Hospital. Dr. Knopp and the entire staff are all wonderful to work with, and they always let me know how much they care for my dogs. I have used them for boarding, regular check ups and one of my dogs had surgery. There is no one else I trust with the care of my dogs.

Abbey Animal Hospital is outstanding! They genuinely care for my puppies! I recently left another vet (we were with for over 20 years) because we became a number instead of knowing our pets. It’s tough enough not to be able to go inside with our pets, we need to know more now that they care. I like the family environment and feel it here! They follow up and ask if we have any concerns. We have been with them since September and decided to move our pets records over. I am so happy to place my little puppies in their hands!
