CityVet - Oak Heart Veterinary Hospital Raleigh, North Carolina

I miss City Vet, the level of care and service just isn’t the same since Oak Heart started buying up the small local vet offices in the area.

I brought my 12.5 year old cat by earlier today, and I was pleasantly surprised at how kind and helpful the vet and staff were. It’s nice having a good vet in the neighborhood!

It actually pains me to write this review as I loved this vet for both our dogs for over a year. They seemed to really care about our dogs and answered our questions every time we called or took our dogs there. This last week one of our dogs needed a dental cleaning and she seemed to do wonderful after the procedure and they answered all of our questions. That night she didn’t seem to be reacting well to the anesthesia nor the morning after as she whimpered the entire night and couldn’t keep food or water down. We called City Vet the morning after and they told us to keep an eye on her and call at 12 pm if she didn’t seem better. She wasn’t better so we called and the receptionist who answered didn’t realize she was not on mute and complained to staff in the background that “it was those owners again and they’ve already called twice”. We heard responses in the background saying “oh god” and “you know how they are” which was directed at us. Mind you we only called once and we told to call back if our dog did not get any better. We realized than that they were nice to our faces but that changed once we left. Due to this, we have now found a new vet. We did speak with another individual at CityVet who was very nice and apologetic for what happened so we are thankful for that. Update (12/15/2021): Since our last above experience, we have been back to the newly branded clinic and not only have they remedied our last experience but they are again offering the great service that we had gotten use to before the above happened. We will definitely keep them as our primary vet now. I have also changed my review to 5 stars.

We enjoyed our first visit here and are excited to continue with Dr Rebecca and the wonderful staff.

Really friendly staff recommend it 100%. They treat your animal as if it was there own.

Reasonable prices and excellent service

We have taken all three of our pets here and we love this vet! The staff has so polite and gotten us in so quickly. The vet is efficient and our pets have gotten full, thorough exams and they were treated with the utmost care. This place deserves more than 5 stars.

Nice office and staff. There was an issue with my appointment and they solved it immediately! My boy Dollar enjoyed the treats and extra care.

Absolutely fantastic!! The staff is uber friendly and efficient. Prices here are also reasonable. I just moved here from TN and was nervous about finding another vet. Glad I chose the most perfect place for our pet!!! I will be a loyal customer so long as I am in the area.

Amazing staff, everyone is always friendly and greets you with a smile. They will treat your pets like they are theirs. They have a great price point for services. Best vet in the area!

Really loved this vet. It was clean, comfortable and had a great vibe to it overall. Julie and Dr. Barnes went the extra mile for our cats and I felt they were really genuine. Everything was also transparent which is a big deal to me personally with no hidden fees and I was also able to comfort my cat during her testing so she wasn’t scared or alone. It’s really refreshing finding a place we can trust as this has been a source of stress after a couple of visits to different doctors elsewhere that didn’t have the same level of compassion for animals. Thank you so much for the help today!

Very friendly staff and outstanding facilities. The only thing is that we’ve never been able to secure an appointment when our pup had an emergency since they were always fully booked up.

I really appreciate the doctors and staff here in normal situations, i.e. an annual exam. However, they are quick to refer to a local Emergency facility when a pet needs to be seen for something that you’ve not made an appointment for weeks ahead of time. Edit: Our dog was really sick. We took him to NC State, they fixed him,. City Vet has been awesome in his recovery, and regular care for both of our pups. We're so grateful for both CityVet and NC State.

Great vet. The staff is so friendly and really really care about their animals. We started taking our year old dog here after clinical, sterile, *expensive* visits to a chain vet who seemed just out to make a buck. But CityVet is reasonably priced, and has taken great care to help our pup and walk us through treatment options.

Kind of pricey but they were thorough with looking at my pups on going issues.

I truly love CityVet Raleigh! I recently relocated to the area and am so happy I found them. My two Newfoundlands go there and they truly care about your pet and make it a wonderful experience! The facility and employees are amazing and I recommend this place to everyone.

My first visit was good, staff was friendly and they saw my cat within a couple of days notice. On my return visit, I asked about blood results from the previous year and no one seemed to know what I was talking about. The vet kept referring to my cat as a HE (it's a female), not a big deal but I began to wonder how much attention we were receiving. I was then notified recently that it was time for yearly blood work - I had just been in for the routine visit 3 months ago - it seemed like these things could have been taken care of at the same time. When I gave the office my feedback of my frustrations, it didn't seem like anyone cared or that my concerns would be passed on. I won't be returning.

Always responsive to any questions or concerns when I call. Very thoughtful and kind to my dog. Thorough and careful with their treatments. Very pleased with this vet office.

Compassionate and professional vet. Went through the very difficult decision of euthanizing my dog and they were very supportive with information and options shared in a kind way.

Edit: I left this vet after I complained to him that the eye cream I was giving my kitty for conjunctivitis was irritating their eyes. He just said keep trying. After speaking with a friend of mine, I found out that there are eye drops to treat pink eye. I went to a different vet and got them straight away. Easy to administer and easy on their eyes. I didn’t go back to City Vet after that. I don’t know why in the world he wouldn’t recommend a less painful course of treatment. Original post: Vet is very knowledgable; all staff is friendly and kind. They delight in making sure animals are healthy and happy. Some may assume prices are higher because it's downtown. We don't find that to be the case. Bonus: never have to wait. Appointment time is the time you see the vet. Highly recommend them.

After moving down to Raleigh I used this clinic twice for my cat. Very happy with everything

Extremely friendly staff. They have taken very good care of both my dogs. Prices are not bad and they did an excellent job of cleaning my dogs teeth. I definitely recommend this vet.
