My 8 year old miniature schnauzer "Praise" and I saw Dr Derr for the first time the beginning of the month for her yearly check-up and vaccines. She took so much time with us and didn't rush me and explained everything and made time to answer my questions. She is wonderful! The Staff is so caring, efficient, and willing to help in a moments notice whether you go into the Office or call in. No matter how busy they are they never make you feel like a bother.

I don't like how you don't see the same vet when you visit & most appointments you only see a tech. I know there are somethings a tech can do but I'm use to my dog seeing the vet.Its like how you go see s doctor & after that you only see the nurse or P.A. I want my dog to see the same vet because that vet will be familiar with her. I will say that the techs I've saw had great attitudes except the male tech. If you don't mind this then give them a try.

Family cat go injured a few weeks ago, pretty bad cut on his ear. First visit was over 400$ which is understandable for the cut, follow up was 50$, again reasonable. Cat had a follow up today (week 3, 3rd follow up) not even to see the vet, a technician was supposed to rub some cream on his ear. After an hour and some change waiting (again not even to see the “dr”) they approached me with an invoice wanting me to sign and say I would pay 30$ for them to rub lotion on his ear. Why wouldn’t they prescribe the lotion for me to rub on his ear? Had a bad experience with them 10 years ago and tried to give them a second chance, but I will not be returning

I have been going to Todds Lane vet hospital for over 30 years. The vet who was the original owner was one of the kindest, most honest men I have ever known, and had the privilege of calling boss for 4 years in the early 90s. When he chose to retire to enjoy the fruits of his labor, he sold to VCA. The first year or two seemed ok, no super change. And then I took our 2 dogs there for routine shots and heartworm checks during an annual visit. ROUTINE. Nothing extraordinary in the least, I even declined the fecal checks. $700 later, I walked out the door. Heartworm checks for 3 times the amount of other vets in the area. Walking thru the door was $70+, a fee that use to be rolled into vaccines. Per dog. As discouraging as this was, it can almost be explained away by rising costs for technology and care. Until I got home. Just minutes after I checked out, in my email box I received an offer from a pet insurance company called Trupanion. A company, upon further investigation, that was directly affiliated with VCA. A company that was offering me insurance for the exorbitant veterinary costs I HAD JUST PAID for next time. Unethical. SO amazingly unethical. This type of behavior in human medicine would be deemed despicable, unethical, and put the license to practice at question. It hurts my heart to say that I will never return to the office that I worked at, loved, watched grow, and have recommended to every person I know, simply because this disgusting company took over and is quite literally screwing the pooch and I out of our money in such an unethical way. I encourage anyone who is reading this review to do a simple google search for VCA animal hospitals, paying close attention to the BBB complaints. My concerns are not unique. Again, so very sad when a piece of my heart has always been at TLVH.

We brought Louis in to see Dr. Meyerhoeffer last week to get some vaccinations caught up. He was great with our dog and offered some great advice for future dental care. I'll be recommending him to my pet owning friends from now on!

Made an appointment a month out. Showed up to our dogs appointment on time and waited nearly an hour before someone gave us a heads up that they are running behind. That’s pretty ridiculous, give your patient a heads up that your running behind maybe 15-20 mins after their appointment time. Not a whole hour after they’ve been waiting. All that time wasted for nothing.

I'd rate it less, if there was a less of a star. My little chihuahua needed surgery for cancer. We said, no collar around her head, to keep her from chewing. It was on her when we first saw her and we were charged for it. They had to remove it from the bill and because they said, she was growling and trying to bite them, I had to remove the collar. One of the vet techs, had gloves on, up to her elbows, holding our 7 lb. Baby! Shes never been like that at any vet, vb in her 8 yrs of life! We had also asked about two shots that they told us she had to have, the day before , when we took her in for bloodwork, they requested. I asked if it was necessary and they said the Veterinarian doing the surgery would have to answer that and they would have her call. She didnt. When we dropped her off, morning of surgery. We asked again. The veterinarian called, was in a big rush, not very professional, just got right to the point and said, she had to have the two shots, not one now and one another time or they wont do the surgery. The shots , we were told, were not necessary, at that time, by another vet. They were for flu and lesleptospira 4Serovar.she said , we can postpone surgery and do the shots. I said, no. After all this is cancer, this has preplanned. We picked her up at 2, like they said. Well, we were there, the manager came out after we had been told to wait for awhile. She said that someone pulling her out of the cage, ripped her toenail, completely out! They had to stop the bleeding! I c sz nt list every thing that was said but they didnt care one bit. Yes, I'm sorry wa said but too much was done by then. The veterinarian was also very rude when we tried to tell her about how she spoke to us on the phone and she said, well, I'm sorry you feel that way but I have surgeries to do! This was before they did it. Alot of heartache for our baby, unnecessary and what strength to have pulled a 7 lb dog, out of a cage, that had just been in surgery, and to keep on pulling, when shes not moving and pull her so hard, her toenail, comes completely out! We were offered no discount or compensation! Never go there, if ! We were also told that the two shots we not necessary, by another vet.

Plus they don't even show my review unless you click on it twice! I have been calling since last week to get my pet seen and they are booked until September 22nd. My pet is very sick and will probably die before then. All they do is refer me to another vet. Not acceptable.

This place is a money grab and makes services mandatory that pets don’t need. They don’t listen to pet parents concerns and walk out of the room while being asked questions pertaining to care. I’ve brought my dogs here for years but definitely won’t be returning to this awful place. Edit: they didn’t give my dogs all of the vaccines they tried to charge me for and put another dogs weight in my dogs chart.

Two stars only for the vet techs/ladies up front who have been nothing but sweet/kind. The vets I dealt with made me search for a new place for my pets. VCA is one of the priciest vets in the area, but the service and licensed veternarians do not match the price point. One I dealt with was rude, dismissive, and made jokes about my question upon leaving the exam room (the only time I've been allowed inside during COVID), the second promised to follow up after prescribing new medication. No follow up, called to remind her, still no follow up. I love my pets and will spend what's necessary to make them feel well. But my money is better spent at other locations in the area. I highly recommend do not frequent this establishment. Price alone you will spend almost double compared to other facilities in a small radius.

My puppy had a fall which resulted in him breaking his leg. At the ER I was told to follow up with either my vet or a surgeon in a week to determine if there would be any long-term damage. As instructed, I followed up with the vet (VCA). For the record, we had only had the puppy two days before the fall so he had yet to be seen by Dr. Neumann prior to his accident. Fast forward to the day of the appointment, upon our arrival I was informed that there would be a $63 assessment fee at which time I approved. A short-while later the vet calls me (during COVID the puppy goes into the clinic while the owner waits in his or her car) and informs me that she read the notes from the ER and that she is not a surgeon so she is not qualified to tell me whether or not there would be any damage down the road and that I would need to take my pup to a surgeon. She continued to say that she is also unable to read X-rays but they could do more x-rays if I would like for $400+. However, he appears to not be in any pain so that’s a good thing. When she finished I informed her that he is currently on pain meds and I asked if this could be the reason he appears to not be in any pain. She said that it could be the case that the pain meds were masking his pain. I then asked if I would still be charged the $63 assessment fee because I felt that no assessment had been done. Per her words “the fee was quite frankly for my (her) time.” She then went on to tell me that an assessment had been done and she is going with the recommendation provided to me by PARC (the ER). Ultimately, I am writing this review because I feel this was poor customer service from the jump. When I initially called to schedule the appointment I informed the facility what the appointment was for. They knew at that moment she was not qualified to do the job I was asking her to do and they could have directed me to a surgeon then. In this economic climate every dollar counts. Her response when asked about the assessment fee bothers me even more. While I understand her time valuable so is mine. I spent an hour of my time patronizing this facility when that hour could have been spent at the surgeon. This has taught me to ask the right questions and do thorough research beforehand. With that said, VCA is not the only vet in Hampton and I will be taking my pup and my business elsewhere. P.S. The nurses at this facility were outstanding!

I was traveling out of town with my fur child when she started to get sick. Being from out of town, I called several vets in the middle of the night leaving voicemails and VCA Todds Lane called me shortly after they opened! The lady I spoke to understood the urgency of my dog's issue so she talked to one of the doctors and I was able to drop my dog off 20 minutes later!! They took such good care of her, took 1 test and prescribed meds that started working immediately. It was such a great experience in such a short notice, thank you so much team at VCA Todds Lane!

I have five mini-schnauzers and a morkie, and while it is expensive (only because of my quantity of dogs), these vets take great care of my pack. They are friendly and responsive and help to keep my pack in great shape. I highly recommend them for you pet's needs.

Dr Neumann was fantastic. She did not make me feel rushed at all and took the time to answer all my questions. She presented several treatment options and did not pressure me into anything. Her treatment plan was conservative and affordable. In house visits are limited but allowed with distancing. There is also the option for curbside drop off and pick up. Appointments are booked pretty far out but they were able to put me on the cancellation list and I was able to have my pup seen same day.
