I had my beautiful, very lively kitten spayed here. She stayed overnight. The next day after I picked her up, she was lively and feisty as ever. There have been no complications at all. Her stitches need to be removed 10 days after the surgery, but they are so well done, it;s hard for me to see them and she very seldom tries to lick the wound.

After moving to Durham, i went to a couple of fancy places that fell short of my expectations. I finally found Tyson Animal Hospital, and I couldn't have hoped for better place! Professionalism and sensitivity, this was what I was looking for for my little ones. I strongly recommend it!

I live in the Parkwood area and first tried this vet because of its close proximity to my house. I was really satisfied by the communication and efficiency of the team there, as well as the PetDesk app that they use to keep track of my dog’s medical records. We have only had positive experiences, and Abbie seems to like the vet tech’s a lot (they always have ample treats for her!) so we continue to go back. Would recommend to friends.

I brought in the sweetest blind stray kitten for a checkup, FIV test, etc. with the expectation that I’d pay for everything and find him a home. It turned out the kitten needs eye surgery, and they informed me that as a result of his eye problems, he’d be euthanized at a shelter and that rescues were full. Dr. Tyson and her amazing team offered to keep the kitten, care for him, perform the surgery to remove his eyes, and adopt him out to a loving home. Not only was it a huge relief knowing the kitten was getting medical attention and a home, but TAH ended up not charging me a dime. It’s apparent that the TAH team are true animal lovers. As a side note- I called about six practices before getting availability at TAH; Lynn on the phone was super sweet and squeezed me in at the end of the day on a Friday despite it being bustling and busy. I’ve already started recommending this practice to my friends and will continue to do so! Take your pets here!!

My pets do enjoy coming to this office. I have a 15 yo. miniature dachshund who typically struggles going to the vet - each time I've gotten her back from Tyson she isn't as agitated as she has been in years past with other pets. One thing I will say that needs improvement is their organizational skills. Often things have been misplaced (such as paperwork - I had to fill mine out a few times), and the dog leash (I had to come back to get it the next day because they forgot to bring it out when they brought the dog). Dr. Miller is excellent at explaining what is going on with my pets' health and quick to call back when I've left messages for her. Overall, I am happy I switched veterinarians :)

I have been using Tyson for the past 10 years. I wouldn't go anywhere else. They are attentive and SUPER friendly. Even during these crazy COVID times, they'll meet you outside with a smile (yes, you can see it even w/ a mask on) to get your pup from you and bring them back when the visit is over. Pre-COVID, all techs are willing to go the extra mile and the front desk too! Love love love Tyson! :)

All of the staff at Tyson are very clearly passionate about what they do. They care deeply for every pet that comes through their doors. Their prices are also quite reasonable.

I love Tyson Animal Hospital! The vet techs and veterinarian were SO sweet. It was sad to see her being carried away for her first check-up but I knew my cute new puppy would be safe and happy in their hands.

Dr. Miller was clear with her instructions. Service was efficient with respect to time, and the assistants were very friendly and knowledgeable! As a new dog owner, I appreciate the fair prices too. It came recommended by the local shelter, Durham APS.

It was the best! Dr. Miller and the vet tech were great. Prices are fair; worth the drive from Carrboro. Couldn't ask for anything more!!

These folks are vindictive and didn't appreciate my patronage. For years, I bought my animals to Tyson Animal Hospital for various treatments with mixed results. Initially, they seemed knowledgeable + helpful. Recently, the quality of care declined considerably. 1) My cat was pulling out her fur and losing weight. After running tests, Tyson couldn't identify the issue and began giving monthly steroid shots, until I took her to a new vet, who told me regular steroids cause heart murmurs. By then she had a heart murmur. We took her off the steroids + I modified her home environment by giving her a separate space away from my dogs. She stopped pulling out her fur and regained weight. 2. I boarded my 70-pound dogs with Tyson a couple years ago. I don't crate them. The staff did their best to accommodate my dogs’ needs. It was clear they don't have the physical space or staffing to give dogs the exercise they need to remain sane while they board. Tyson charged me for each additional 6 minutes that I requested the dogs be allowed to run free. I didn't know the train track behind the small exercise yard for dogs was active. When I returned to pick them up, a train came through blowing its horn. The train is way too loud and too close to where the dogs are kept. When I picked up my dogs, they were shell-shocked. I'd never seen them so anxious. They'd been kept on concrete slabs for days next to dogs who were barking very loudly. One of my dogs was a recent rescue whom I had successfully boarded a few times at other locations where he could run free. He returned from Tyson very aggressive towards other dogs. He began lunging at cars. It took a year to rehabilitate him. They should not board dogs. 3.) I continued patronizing Tyson, despite these 2 very challenging experiences, because, for the most part, my dogs are healthy, and the quality of care for basic, low-maintenance issues and check-ups had been okay. Then my girl dog developed an ongoing skin issue they couldn't resolve and they'd informed me that the only solution to her increasing inflammation was to put her on a medicine that would deaden her nerves, including her brain, causing her to sleep away her remaining years. 4.) I brought my girl dog in last week for anal gland expression, and to pick up her prescription. It was a particularly tough week, 3 family members died, including my beloved aunt, 2 from COVID. I left the house without my wallet. During the pandemic, I've stopped consistently carrying a wallet. I buy most things on-line. Or I call and pay over the phone. Admittedly, I've fallen out-of-practice when it comes to leaving the house because I don't go anywhere. Dr. Tyson brings my dog to me with prescription in hand. She suggests we test my dog for hypothyroidism due to her "rat tail." I'm uncomfortable: she's been treating my dog for hypothyroidism for years, including several T4 tests to get her regulated. I tell Dr. Tyson I left my card at home and'll call in to make the payment. I ask her to send out the invoice with an add’l prescription I requested. She says they’ve had a problem collecting payment from me in the past, which is a lie. At the beginning of the pandemic, they were cool with me calling to pay, but I’d have to call several times because their lines are busy. Even if it took a couple days, I always closed out my bill. I knew then they’d offered my dogs sub-par care due to fear of non-payment. I received an invoice several days later because I emailed them to request it. When I questioned Megan about the office visit charge, she overreacted, threatening to send me to collections + to withhold medical records. I paid the bill and insisted that Megan stay on the phone with me until I received the records. She sent over paperwork that read “Bad Debt/Write-Off” where “Tyson Animal Hospital” normally appears. I explained to her that I had a zero balance. She lied and said that’s what discharge records look like. When I challenged the legality, she quickly sent me updated paperwork that read “Tyson Animal Hospital."

I've been coming here for years and they've always been great to my dog and cat. On numerous occasions they've advised me on the most cost effective options when they could have allowed me to pay hundreds of dollars. Wonderful, kind staff.

To anyone looking for an Incredible veterinary clinic, you can stop your search because TYSON is it, here in the triangle area. I moved from Durham recently and drive from Raleigh to take my pets here. This is a veterinary animal hospital that gives 150% care to pets, but just as equally important, to their pet-parent clients. They do their best to stay as low cost as they can to maintain efficient operations for their business, while having a price significantly lower than veterinary animal hospitals in the area. They care THAT much about the pets that they want to ensure a pet-parent can afford the care needed to save/help their pet. Whenever either of my pups need care because they are sick, I call in that morning and the majority of the time they can fit me in for that day. They have exceptional customer service both for the pets and the pet-parents. You can really tell how much they love caring for animals and helping pet-parents care for their pets to keep them healthy. Thank you for caring exceptionally for Kaia and Kahlua, they say thanks!

Recently moved to Durham from out of state, along with our 8 year old dog with Addison's. Called several vets to determine their familiarity with Addison's. Some were sure their vets could handle, while Tyson's knew what medications the dog was probably on and her treatment plan. And their prices are reasonable. After our first visit I knew I made the right choice. Highly recommend!

Not sure how it could be improved. Bruno and Miss Sue are not reluctant to stay there. The staff obviously cares about them. I use Tyson for veterinary services and boarding. I have for 6 years now.

I adopted a COVID puppy so have only experienced their curbside service and while the staff seems knowledgeable I am reluctant to bring my pup back after they tried to remove her spay stitches in the parking lot. I was appalled, she had scabs there and it went about as horribly as you can imagine and they ended up taking her inside for more help to pin her down... my friendly puppy had some fear aggression from never experiencing these examinations before (that I have since worked on) but she will never do well being forcibly pinned down by a stranger, so I'm frankly reluctant to bring her anywhere until I can go in with her.

My puppy had a spay here, and they really butchered the sutures. It’s fully healed, and her tummy has horrible bumpy scar tissue. And they put her chip in a bad spot , sort of in her armpit, that you can feel. I don’t like that you can feel it. My other dog who was treated at a different animal hospital has none of these problems.
