The staff is very professional and caring about the services they provide for your pets. They listen to your concerns and offer the care they need. Such a great place for the Oak Grove community and the greater Raleigh/Durham area in the RTP location.

Very friendly staff that really care. They're really great at being informative and will be honest with you on your pets. This place is also Pitbull friendly.

We changed to Oak Grove Animal Hospital in April of this year from another Andover vet, we absolutely love the care, service and availability here! These people have your animals best interest at the forefront and competitive/better pricing! I’m so glad to have found them!

Needed a new vet for my older dog, Roscoe. OGAH is close to my home so I decided to give them a try. I am so glad I did! The entire staff was wonderful. My dog needed some surgery and Dr. Hedges did a wonderful job. After care was great and staff treated Roscoe like their own. He is now fully recovered and friskier than ever.

Ok so my dogs are like children to us, my Titan was having some hind leg problems and we had him looked at. The next day the new vet there called us and explained that they could do a procedure that would maybe tell us what was going on but definitely rule some things out. They came out to get Titan with a stretcher so he wouldn't have to walk in pain. They strapped him down even, treated him like family!! Highly recommend!

Oak Grove Animal Hospital is top notch when it comes to pet health and care. I worked with Dr. Gierke to diagnose and treat my dog Mindy. Dr. Gierke removed a sebaceous cyst from Mindy’s ear and it has healed beautifully, I can’t say enough about the professionalism, caring and consideration I received from Oak Grove Animal Hospital. Thank you!

The staff and Dr. Hedges are all great here! They are always excited to see my cats. They are patient with me when I call with my concerns. I like that they take the time to educate/discuss with me medical issues that have happened with my furr purrs and that they genuinely care about what they do and actually seem to love their work! Thanks for being awesome. <3 Monique and the fur babies

My dogs and I LOVE Oakgrove Vet!! My rescue pup Willy is very leery of strangers and wouldn’t let anyone touch him at the vet. Since he needed his shots & check up, we needed to do something! After 4 weeks of working with Oakgrove vet to desensitize Willy, we got him a check up & shots! They did such an amazing job working with us… so patient & professional not forcing themselves. I’ve been taking my dogs there for over 15 years!

My 6 year old lab mix was treated great at the Hospital. The vet and the staff were all very professional, knowledgeable, and super-friendly during her check-up, shots, and nail trim. I definitely recommend them.

We had an emergency situation where our 7 month old mini dachshund was stung by a bee. He was having a reaction and became instantly lethargic. We called Oak Grove Animal Hospital. They were able to squeeze him in without an appointment and evaluate him. Thankfully, he recovered quickly and we were able to bring him home. Amazing, caring and understanding staff that are always ready to help and answer your questions. Highly recommend Oak Grove Animal Hospital.

Today I took my dog, River, to Oak Grove to establish a primary point of care for her on-going, complicated medical issues. Right from the start, I felt confident that she would be well taken care of by the staff. Our technician, Yadira, met us at our vehicle and I could tell she was already well familiar with all of the treatments and issues my dog is experiencing (she even knew some of the hospitalization dates off the top of her head!) and Dr. Heitzman went above and beyond by calling ahead of time to discuss River's issues with her specialist vets at the NCSU CVM Internal Medicine Service before our appointment. Dr. Heitzman put together a solid game plan for River's continued monitoring and treatments, and she even figured out a way to get me some of the harder to find medication River needs! Everyone was so nice, thorough, and knowledgeable that I'm very happy to continue to bring River back to the Oak Grove staff for all her future needs--10/10 recommend!!!

Flexible, friendly, great staff. Long standing local vet, won’t up charge you for things like next day appointments like some other vets in the area.

Updated Review changing review from 5 stars to 0 stars. Following my first visit in July gave 5 stars and posted. Wonder experience!! The team at Oak Grove Animal Hospital was friendly and were amazing with my dog. They even went the extra mile printing off food recommendations since he has food allergies and other resources. My updated rating is 1 star only because I couldn't do 0 stars. Since my first visit I have been back 3 more times due to ongoing allergies and skin issues. So a total of 4 times between July and today. I politely asked that I please speak to vet when I made appointment because the 3 other visits I had only spoke to the technicians when they picked up my dog Ty Allen from my car and returned. The technician a lady same one most visits was very nice but not the vet and I would ask questions and she would have to go back in and get answers but always helpful and friendly. Today the vet came out. She began making big deal about my asking to speak to her and said she had talked with me. I explained today was the first time we talked. She began explaining my dog's allergies and when I told her that wasn't what I was told she and male technician were more concerned over arguing with me that she had talked to me even saying she recognized me. I said I had talked to male technician but not her but was just wanting to get answers since this was my 4 visit. Even if i had seen her before which was not the case I'm the customer and it was about my dogs health but they were only focused on my requesting to talk to vet. They both called me a liar and went back in to check their notes when I told them they gave me a print out of what food to buy on my first visit. They came back out and I showed them a picture of what they told me to buy. Dr. Hedges and the male technician both became rude told me I had argued with Ariel and made a point to request to see vet. I never argued but did say I wanted to see the vet. After 4 trips I thought that request was fair and reasonable. I was trying to find out what needed to be done for my DOG. As I was showing the picture she said she would have never told me to buy hydrogenated food I said it was limited ingredients and that was what was printed from them as example to buy. I was then told by Dr. Hedges that this was not a good fit and I that I needed to leave. I said so you are not even going to see my dog today she said NO we will be bringing him out. All I asked was to see the vet and was verbally attacked and called a lie when in my opinion after 4 visits and over $500 for same issue I should have had vet talk to me every time and even if I remembered incorrectly which wasn't the case I shouldn't have to defend myself and be refused service for my pet who by the way was inside for an hour at this point and told to find another vet all because I asked to see the vet. I will admit at that point I did get out of my car and yelled that I will make sure my friends who take their pets there leave too. I got back in my car and was crying out of anger and frustration for my poor dog who still scratching. I called back and asked for my dogs file to be brought out it was obvious I was upset. When the technician a different lady came out I told her I had never been treated in such a way. Thankfully Brier Creek Animal Hospital was very professional, nice and got Ty worked in for tomorrow. I should have stayed going there since they cared for my previous dog but I live in the Oak Grove community, it was closer and I wanted to support my local community. I would encourage anyone who wants a professional veterinarian that treats pets and talks to pet owners NOT to take your pet to Dr. Hedges and Oake Grove Animal Hospital.

Update: Under new leadership. excellent service now. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Had a family cat for over 14 years growing sick who has gone here his whole life. Front desk experience has been great. Vet is all about money and has little to no compassion for the pets or their family in my opinion. All about the money in my opinion. Do NOT take your pet here to be put to sleep due to illness, age etc. if you expect any kind of compassion. Had to use another vet 2 years ago to have an older dog put to sleep. 100% compassion, they told us to take out time and made our pet as comfortable as possible, you can feel when you are valued. We are moving our remaining pets to another vet.

We decided driving to Raleigh for the vet we used for years is getting really old and they are always behind on apts and dont call to tell us to drive the 20 minutes later when backed up and we only needed annual wellness exam and blood work. Oak Grove saw us promptly and we got two dogs in and out in under 3 hours, which soulds like a long time, but they got the attention needed with lab draws etc. We have a liver issue for one dog newly discovered and they can bring in a sonogram specialist for us within 10 days. If it were more urgent there are emergency vets, but in the end we are very pleased with the time estimate and actual time it took and specialist availability when needed. As for negative reviews pre Feb 2020, please realize Dr. D has retired and will be missed. If you are a true animal person, you'd recognize a kindred spirit. We used to laugh after appointments and comment that our dogs had a great time and got all the Dr. D's attention, even when we weren't feeling it ourselves. People who dont realize it's about your pet, not you, were never going to 'get' that Dr. D was there for the best for your pet and not to make you feel special. Lol.
