Not the best clinic out there (having worked as a vet tech in SC and at the NC State Vet School). Doesn't look at emergency cases - don't waste your time calling them. Insufficiently staffed - if a vet calls in sick your appointment will be cancelled on no notice. There are 3 other vet clinics nearby and a phenomenal large animal vet. Only nice thing I can say is that when you can get them to work they are (for a vet) relatively cheap. Never saw the vets I worked for turn away an emergency case (even when I wanted to go home!).

Took cat in two previous visits and was told cat was in excellent health. Returned cat to have spayed and got a call that our cat was dead. Vet was nice and said they did everything they could but had no success. Staff is very nice.

Apparently this vet thinks an exam is weighing my cat and not telling me that he has a heart condition. I brought in my sick cat to a different vet months after going to this VCA and they proceeded to tell me that my previous vet probably told me about the heart condition on my cat but this was news to me. Do not go to this VCA!!

We recently got a mini dachshund puppy. The care she's received so far has been great. Everyone has been professional and friendly. My Lexi loves going to the Vet which is pretty awesome when you consider she's getting shots! The pricing seems competitive and I loved the coupon for the first visit.

We went and had our australian shepherd puppy groomed and she did and Samantha did an amazing job even though it required a little extra effort because Zoe had never been groomed professionally before.

I had an appointment at 4PM for 3 shots. I waited outside in the hot sun for 30 Minutes. I called 3 times and finally was told to come back in 30 minutes. I came back in 30 minutes and called again. Placed in hold 3 minutes. Called back and was told they are putting in charges at 5:10. There is no communication from facility to pet owner. The excuse was “we have been very busy today”. I told the technician I wanted rabies, distemper, and parvovirus. They have influenza to him without my person. Anna, the office manager, started yelling at me, threatening me, and told me should would place my balance in collections. I am very disappointed in the way in which I was treated today after I have been a customer for many years.

Absolutely horrible service. The people were rude and don’t care one bit about the animals under their “care”

Dahlonega Animal Hospital is like heaven on earth. If your canine or feline children want to be treated like angels, please know that Dr. Helvie and his phenomenal team will exceed all your expectations. My sweet Penny is indulged beyond anything I could ever hoped for. She is always in the most professional hands, and respected and cared for like she is their most cherished canine child. She never wants for anything. I feel so comfortable and confident that she will always receive the best care. Their dental program is top notch as is their thorough examination. You can count on a total explanation of everything anticipated, and very thoughtful follow-up calls following any procedure. Love and dedication abounds, and your pet's continued good health will always be at the forefront of any visit. The best gift you can give your pet is making sure Dr. Helvie and his brilliant team are a special part of your "angel's" life.

This animal hospital is top notch. They are so friendly and take such good care of our pets! I'd give them 6 stars if I could! I even buy our cats food from them, just because they are so wonderful!! You cannot go wrong taking yours to them, either! They are very careful and precise and know just what to do with our babies.

I have been taking my 7 month old toy poodle there since I got him in September. Have had all his shots done here since I got him. I scheduled a neuter for him today (3-5-19). I was told it would be $116 and that I could pick him up between 5-6 to allow for anesthesia to wear off and to make sure he was good to go. When my husband took him this morning he was told that my dog would be staying overnight. I have NEVER in my life heard of an animal having to stay overnight for a neuter. When I repeated to them what I was told when I scheduled the appt they said I was told incorrect information. I have taken another dog of ours there for surgery for a mass removal previously and was allowed to take her home that afternoon, which is WAY more invasive than a neuter. I am sure I was also going to be charged an overnight fee and they also wanted to do a wellness check for $204!!!! He shouldn't need a wellness check if he has been coming there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seems like everytime I bring him he needs something extra. Brought him to the groomer there and was told he would need a flu shot in order to stay in their kennel! So there was an extra $32 and then the flu shot was a 2 part, so when I took him back for the 2nd part guess what? YEP!....another $32. I just wanted to get my dog neutered people. You need to review your policies with ALL of your staff that answers the phone and schedules appointments. I will be finding another vet. Friendly staff is not enough to keep me coming back.

I do love this place. They take outstanding care of my dog and cat and try their best to explain every step in a way that I can understand. Dr. Helvie discussed different options for heart worm treatments with me ,and told me pros and cons for both. I really like that he didn’t just shove the more expensive option down my throat. I do think they could do better with reception. A couple times I have come in and been asked (after telling them my name/pet’s name)if I have an appointment and what it’s for. Then after being told the night before that I was to drop off my dog between 7:30-8:00 am, I was told by the receptionist that I would have to wait until the Dr. got in at 8:00. When I finally told her that my dog was supposed to be there all day and I was just dropping her off, the vet tech came out and told me she(receptionist) had told her I had an appointment for something completely different than what I had scheduled. I am a little irritated that there seems to be no actual organization in the appointment scheduling process. Why am I telling someone what the appointment is for on the phone if they don’t make a note of it and I have to explain myself again when I come in? Also I feel like I made mistake when someone asks me if I have an appointment after I tell them my name and my pet’s name, like I forgot to make the appointment or I hallucinated making the appointment.
