Ruth has been fantastic to work with! Our dog, Covy, attended board and train for three weeks. During that time he learned basic commands, but more importantly he learned proper leash walking, how to contain his excitement and in house manners. Additionally, we received regular updates, photos and videos while Covy was away. He didn't come home the perfect dog, but Ruth gave us the foundation to work with. We also received hours of training videos to help us as we continue to work with him. I highly recommend any services A-Z Dogs provides.

A-Z dogs completed a 21 day board and train with our 5-6 year old Jack Russell Terrier. He is a rescue dog that came to live with us in July 2020. We have no real idea what happened to him in his past but after a couple of weeks of settling in, it became apparent that he was not fond of other dogs. In fact, if he met one on one of his daily walk his reactions could be interpreted as vicious if you did not know that he is just the sweetest dog ever. We had a previous failed experience with another trainer but as we are expecting our first child we knew we had to try again. We contacted Ruth and she spent over an hour on the phone talking about about his personality and his issues. It was a pure wrench to our hearts to let him go for 3 weeks but it became very obvious very quickly that after the initial settling in period that he was having the best time. When he came back, he was much easier to deal with. Ruth showed us how to work him through face to face encounters with dogs. Although every incident isn’t perfect which I think is more to do with how quickly we react, we have so many more good incidents than bad. Even when he is having a bad day, you can see him thinking about his behavior and pulling himself away from the bad actions faster. His general manners are also so much better. He walks to heel instead of constantly pulling. In addition to this, since we got him we thought he had stress related colitis. He had issues with his tummy at least once every ten days and it was awful watching him go through it. Since he has been with Ruth, following her nutritional advice and cutting out a couple of our own bad habits, he isn’t had one issue. When Ruth came to the house to complete one of our follow up lessons, it was very obvious how much she thought of our dog and how much he thought of her. We knew we had done the right thing. Her training videos are also a really good resource. We would highly recommend A-Z dogs.

After two of our fur babies had a freak accident with each other that spiraled quickly into reactiveness, aggression and lack of trust with each other, we knew we needed help before things got any worse. That’s when we found Ruth and I am so thankful that we did! Ruth is extremely knowledgeable, kind and very understanding. Ruth has not only helped our girls to be able to coexist again and start repairing their relationship, but she has also helped my husband and I to be even better dog parents!! If I could give more than 5 stars I would in a heartbeat! Ruth is incredible at what she does and will love and care for your pup(s) just as much as you do, all while helping them to be the best doggo!! We are so fortunate and grateful that we get to continue to learn and grow with the best!

We decided to look for training for our dog Riley after she was attacked and her reactiveness got worse. We found A-Z dogs and we are very happy we did! Ruth took the time to get to know Riley during our first visit as well as us. The training is very in depth and an effort between dog and owners. We learned things from Ruth that we had never known before and definitely see an improvement in Riley. The pricing is also very reasonable.

Ruth is very passionate, patient and knowledgeable. As a first time dog owner, I truly appreciate Ruth's guidance on training, food & enrichment tip/suggestions. She is nice enough to be flexible on scheduling when my dog needed a surgery and recovery time(s), she cares about your pet's well being. She tailored the training to our environment and dynamic. Took lots of hours for my pet and I to practice but worth it at the end. Will use her again if my dog develops new problem later on or when I get another dog. I'll give her and her team 5 star for the overall performance.

DIFFERENT THAN THE REST: I have yet to work with Ruth, but from our 25 minute, in-depth phone conversation, I know that there is something so unique and different about Ruth from other trainers/behaviorists. She oozes knowledge and passion, and will answer all of your questions quickly and calmly. I can't wait to start working with her and my dog, Meegosh (the name is from a character in the 80's film, Willow). I will do a follow-up review

After going through a few dog training options/dog trainers I knew Ruth was different from the moment we had our phone consultation. My one problem child is an 8 year old rescue hound whom was not food motivated (or so we thought). The training was booked mainly for my two year old pup because I thought our older one would be a lost cause and was set in his ways. Ruth was so patient with us during training and not only transformed BOTH dogs but gave us so many recommendations to make our pups healthier and more stimulated. I used to get such bad anxiety walking them and my anxiety is totally gone, worth every penny for me!! Thank you so much Ruth!!!

I don't think I could have found a better trainer for my dog! Ruth was so patient getting to know Tuck and Tuck absolutely loved her. He knew exactly when she was coming and would get so excited to see her and walk with her. Tuck had some reactive tendencies when people would be in his space, Ruth helped him realize that people coming over was a positive thing. I am so sad I am moving out of state and can't use her anymore, she is absolutely amazing. Thank you Ruth!

Ruth at A-Z DOGS was wonderful with training my Siberian Husky puppy Kai! When planning to get my newest addition, I knew that I needed training too so I would cause the least problems in temperament. It was critical to me to find a trainer who utilized positive-reinforcement techniques. Ruth fit all that to a T! She spent time working with me and Kai as well as Kai’s interaction with my roommate’s older dachshund. I can not say enough how much I appreciate and credit Ruth with how well Kai has seamlessly become part of our home. She was a sanity-saver!

As a rescue we often get dogs with many different types of personalities/issues. We often call on Ruth to assess our pups and help us with any type of issue that the pups may be facing. Ruth seems to understand dogs in a very special way. It is almost as if she "speaks their language". Everything is done in a positive/reward manner. She provides us with the tools necessary to work with the pups and also with tools to help the pup if any additional issues come up. We highly recommend Ruth to anyone who needs help with any needs your dog may have - whether simple training or more advanced issues.

Ruth is very knowledgeable of dogs and their behaviors. She is AWESOME and was so patient when we bombarded her with so many questions as 1st time dog owners. She trained our pup (and us) on basic puppy skills and trouble behaviors as they popped up. Our pup is almost 4 months old now and has learnt so much which makes having a puppy WAY more fun! I highly recommend Ruth for training your puppy or dog. She even comes to you to make it even easier!! Your experience with her will be positive for you and your dog!

Ruth actually came recommended to me by another dog trainer and I’m so happy my dog, Oliver, and I found her! She seems to speak dog and understands why they’re behaving the way they are and how to work through those behavioral issues using positive reinforcement. I came to her with fear/aggression issues and not only was I provided with the tools to work through that, but feel like I have a strong foundation now to work through other obstacles I may encounter. Our sessions together were invaluable. I highly recommend Ruth and A-Z Dogs if you’re looking for a trainer!

My wife and I would highly recommend working with Ruth for dog training. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about training dogs in a positive manner. Ruth not only taught our puppy Bailey commands and how to walk on a leash, but did a lot to explain to us as owners what we need to do to make sure to have the best outcome for her. We enrolled in her program since our puppy was a rescue that came from very difficult circumstances and we wanted to make sure we were giving her the best opportunity to help her overcome her history to be a happy and loved dog.

Well, what I can say is that this has worked wonders with my dog. He has in the past had a tendency to be somewhat reactive to other dogs, and with a-z dogs I learned tools to address that. Turns out positive reinforcement is really effective!

I am so grateful I found Ruth! She is the perfect balance between knowledge, support, and encouragement. From our conversations and the time that she spent with me and my dog Jett, it’s obvious that she is passionate about helping owners learn how to communicate with their fur babies for behavior modification. Thanks to Ruth, my one year old boxer lab mix is on his way to improving his dog reactivity while on the leash so we can have confident and enjoyable walks!
