The pet store has one of the most kindest and friendliest people out of everywhere in New York! Believe me I called and been to other places with my wife to search for our now beloved puppy Parabellum and I can tell you with full confidence everywhere else either has rude people or they just want your money. The people not workers are amazing at what they do and care for the soon to be pet parents and it’s honestly astonishing how well they handle there business! I don’t say workers because these people treat you like friends, that’s why I call them people and not workers. They’re not in it for the money they’re goal is to give the lovely pets a new home. Too include aside there marvelous character persona, they give free stuff to start out your adventure and life with your new pet(s) so come on, where else do you get that kind of delightful and grateful attitude from?!? On top of all these great things you can bring your dog or cat back to get a free nail trim/cut! We can’t thank them enough for everything they have done for us and for our new puppy, they also recommend various things you may not happen to know by other pet stores like when to give them a bath, what times to start feeding, when to go to the vet and etc! I wish there was a way to get the community to support them more and get them more recognition because they’re honestly the best! And they’re prices are unbeatable compare to the services you get at other places! Hope everyone found this useful and spread the stores recognition further!

Dead fishes left in the tank. I was stop by see the puppy with my kid, but refused by owner. He might see color of people.

Can’t say enough to prose them. Just go look at the cats who live there that they rescued from the street and have a home. Talk to the owner. He reached so many in his life. And runs a super helpful store with good food and lots of useful products. And gives good advice.

This is the best, most responsible, most compassionate Pet Store in the world. Got the healthiest most loving adorable puppy in the world from this wonderful man. Anyone criticizing is insane. Just go in there ask a few you questions and you will see. No one takes better care of these animals than the owner of the shop

Found adorable puppy. Whacky owner said to leave name and number for owner of puppy to call me. Never got a call and then was told puppy was probably already sold and to look somewhere else. Puppies are either on consignment or he holds them for other people.

We got our beautiful beagle there 12 years ago. She is still a loving part of our family. Steve was great!

Bought a puppy from them 4 months ago and Steve was a bit unfriendly at first ,but in the end he gave us a lot of food and advice of how to take care of the puppy. I love my puppy and I’m really glad he is healthy!

Only local aquarium pet store but learned the hard way to quarantine any fish you take home from here. I brought home an otherwise healthy looking goldfish from here but -because it was infected with parasites- it sickened and wiped out ALL my fish within a week. Owner is mostly friendly and I like how he keeps resident store cats but fish hygiene is subpar.

I bought my puppie a bichon poodle . She is so cute and still with us . She is turning 3 years old next month. Prices are affordable . I am visiting him again for a Yorkie Terrier . Steve is a little unfriendly but He is a nice person.

Worst place for a pet.

Steve the owner of the store is very polite and gives you lots of advices to take good care of your puppy and even after you buy the puppy. Steve will still taking care of your puppy, giving you his help and support. I truly recommend you to stop and buy your puppy in his store.

First of all, this pet shop is family owned and we should all support local and family owned businesses to help with diversity and our community. This shop has been in Sunnyside longer than I have, which is over 25 years. The first thing you will notice is the owner, (Tall, light skin gentleman) and at first he appears as if he has no interest and does not want to talk very often. But dont be fooled. Like many similar reviews, you will see that if you have a direct question or are there to ACTUALLY shop; he is more than willing to help and make sure that you leave the door satisfied and even willing to lose money to make sure you will be happy with the pet you decided to buy. Heck, he is the ONLY person in the neighbourhood who makes Halloween fun for children in our community and help them get the experience of having a pet fish during their early childhood. Most people may assume this is a sales tactics. But if you really do the math, you will see that his actually at losing money by doing the Halloween event. (Cost of labor, electricity for decorations, rent, and self pay) I recommend to spent some time there and go there often to shop, he slowly opens up. You will realize he is a man who cares about his business but also goes out of his way to make sure others are happy and satisfied when they decide introduce a new member into the family (Pet).

STAY AWAY! I rarely give 1-star ratings (you can check my past reviews) but if I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. The pets are kept in such horrible condition, that I honestly can’t believe this shop is still open. The owner seems super shady and the vibe is totally off. The only way this place will be closed down is if we start spreading the word about how they don’t care about pets, only profit. Please don’t give this place your business.

I got my puppy from This pet store about 8 months ago. The owner was very helpful. We are very happy with our bichon frise.

Steve is amazing! He personally assisted my kids with the dog of their choice, pricing was fair and the entire store was very friendly!

Very confused to see all the good reviews below as I’ve had many experiences as a child coming to this store only to see the puppies in cages without any linings, poop and pee all over almost as if they’ve never been cleaned, and the pups literally shaking of fear or literally dead on the inside. And to this day, it’s the same thing. It’s hard to deny the abuse these pups are facing and it’s more heartbreaking to see people continue to come to this business and support them. I’m all for supporting small businesses but not when they’re outright committing animal abuse and neglect. Save your time and money, and reach out to the local councilman and animal shelter (I’ve tried).

The owner of this shop is one of the most compassionate people I’ve ever met regarding animals. I do tnr and rescue street kittens and abandoned pet cats. He has helped me place literally hundreds of kittens and cats into loving homes, and made not a penny from it. He’s always been nothing but supportive of the work of volunteers who help animals in need and has rescued many animals himself. The animals in his shop are well cared for and he only adopts out to carefully screened and responsible owners. Anyone criticizing this shop and its owner is utterly ignorant and should be deeply ashamed. They don’t know what they are talking about. As a person who works with the Aspca and ACC and several other reputable animal rescues, I do know what I’m talking about. Prior to the owner (Steve) helping, I placed a small fraction of the number of pets I’ve been able to rescue. I too make no money from this - not even recouping my costs involved - and am driven solely by a desire to fix the horrible problem on the streets of nyc that the same people who would complain about this store do zero to help. Steve has made it possible for me to save several times more cats than I could without his help and he makes not a cent off of it - and he helps purely because he cares about animals deeply. He also had helped connect me with vets and resources I desperately needed to save the lives of these homeless and often sick street animals. This store is a benefit to the community and more importantly to the homeless and hopeless animals on the street that would have no chance without help - and Steve makes it possible.

Rude owner got mad when I didnt want to buy the rats from him. Stay away bad customer service

The owner Steve is very Knowledgeable and will try his best to guide you through every step of owning these pups through adult hood and beyond. If you dont like the conditions the animals are living in buy em! Save em, and give them a better life! I have a cockerspaniel from this guy he is my best friend and eceptionaly ridiculously cute and is very intelligent also! while life may not be perfect coming home to this amazing little person is worth more than the price you pay for them by any means Good pet shops are hard to come by but this is one of the last Good luck and hopefully youll give them a better life because they all can use a responsible owner

I purchased our Pomeranian here 9 years ago and couldn’t be happier. They gave us fair pricing and good service. We received a new family member 9 years ago and she is the best thing that ever happened to us. She is loving and intelligent, and 100% healthy. Purchasing my next puppy from here too.

I can't say enough about the Owner Steve. He is a cool guy who answered all of our questions. You can tell he has been in the business for over 45 years due to his knowledge and experience. My wife and I never felt rush or pressured to purchase our 4 month old (10/21/18)Miniature Dauchund. The purchase price was more than fair and the starter kit he provided us was way more than we expected. The other dogs were treated very well. Yes, there was a slight dog smell, but that is expected when going to any pet shop or animal shelter. Overall, my wife and I are very happy with the newest member to our family. Thank you Steve for making this transition happen very easy with no issues or hassle. I would certainly recommend friends and family if they are interested in getting a furry friend.

Not a huge selection but nice place

I didn’t want to believe the reviews I read here, so I went there last Sunday. Terrible! OMG! Do not waste your time. Poor puppies.

The owner of this pet store is one of the most caring people you will ever meet in your life regarding animals. He takes incredibly good care of the puppies and finds them loving homes very quickly. Prior to the law changing such that pet stores no longer can assist cats, he would rescue so many kittens every year at his own expense, profiting nothing at all. He still helps rescuers of homeless street kittens in every way he can, purely for the purpose of helping the animals. He is always ready and willing to advise and help with any need you may have for your pet. And if they don’t have something you need he will try to get it for you. They are knowledgeable and compassionate. It’s a small shop that houses animals with the goal of uniting them with loving responsible owners - not gentrified fashionable store. If that’s what you want go elsewhere but don’t leave nasty reviews out of ignorance. If you want to support a real asset to our community and to animals, you should shop here.
