LIC Doghouse Long Island City, New York

Terrible and stressful experience. Warning for those that want grooming: they TOLD ME UPFRONT that the appointment will take 30 min so I relied on that to schedule important matters for work, and I was totally mistaken. You are in a slot with many other pets and it could take hours until your pet is groomed, and even then it will take longer than 30 min. PLEASE LIC Doghouse think about saying this either in your email, text, or upfront! So many messages, yet no information about this! If I knew this, I would have just scheduled an earlier slot. I’ve been to other grooming places and never experienced this. I waited an hour until I checked back in and they had not even started on my cat. When I told them I really needed to go by a certain time, they did not care AT ALL, refused to hurry or give me any time estimate, and never apologized once. I had planned my day around this and it made a huge inconvenience and a lot more money spent on Ubers than I had planned. All of this could have been prevented if LIC doghouse thought of telling me this in one of their many communications. I will never go again.

Brought my dog here for grooming and staff was very nice and accommodating. They were able to give my dog a bath and trim following our specific instructions. She was also done very quickly, which I appreciated since she gets nervous if she stays at the groomer for too long. One star off for the online booking system, it's really long and not user friendly at all. Hope they switch to another platform.

Stubborn appointment system , not efficient. The haircut is way more ugly than our precious groomer. Ours is a toy Yorkie . Btw , our previous groomer is NY Puppy Club. They do so good cute haircut! They a little far though.

They look good but I wish it was easy to get an appointment with them it's very hard

They do a very good job when grooming my dog, but their appointment scheduling is too chaotic. They use an online tool that I wish worked properly. Today I tried to make an appointment and the online booking tool showed an available appointment for tomorrow. But the site wouldn’t let me book the appointment (same thing happened last time and they told me that they knew of the issue and were only making appointments over the phone). When I called to make the appointment today, they told me I had to book online. I gave up and am planning on using another service. I like this place, but wish this aspect of their service was better.

We love LIC doghouse! Glad that they are able to provide this great form of socialization in these times. Our pup always comes home happy and tired! They are great with posting updates on Instagram as well. Would definitely recommend!

Our dog left her first beloved day care when we moved from Manhattan to LIC . LlC doghouse was the only place I could trust after visiting several in the area. The owner Ronny and the tremendous staff are so caring, responsive and committed to running a warm, safe and wonderful place for the dogs. Our pup (who is 7) can’t wait to be picked up for her day at the doghouse. When she comes home she is always happy and tired from her full day out. She has also boarded there - also only positive experiences. When we all left the city for an extended time - she even starting missing her pals! Can’t sing the praises of LIC doghouse enough -happy dog - happy life - and oh yes they have an excellent groomer too!!

Unprofessional shop. Never have a grooming place treated my dog how this shop did. Would not recommend going, they will only waste your time. I waited for almost an hour for these people to say they can’t groom her, and won’t even tell me a reason! They should’ve said so from the start instead of taking my dog and having me wait.

The staff is super friendly and made sure I was happy with the services. My dog had a full groom and it was worth every penny. I highly recommend this place!

My dog Mylo goes to LIC Doghouse for daycare, and absolutely adores it. I’m grateful for the staff and the care shown to my pup.

I’ve been using LIC Doghouse for walks and daycare for the past 9 months. My dogs love them even more than I do! Very friendly, highly responsive, and they take great care of my two small dogs.

We used this daycare a few times, as needed from 2014-2015 till we moved away. They always had space, and our pup enjoyed the day there. I really liked seeing photos on their facebook looking for my dog. There is a weird cleaning smell, so we were sure to wash our dog's paws as soon as coming home. But never had an issue with the Doghouse.

We are so grateful to LIC doghouse for always taking such good care of our dog! Our dog loves it there. He starts pulling on the leash if we get within a few blocks. They are also great as dog walkers. There’s a really easy app to use to schedule everything. Highly recommend!

I have used LIC several times now. I love how good they are to my dog. Kind , gentle. The best recomendation I can give is he runs to the door to meet Joanne.

Wow was really excited for this place ... I read all the positive reviews ... well I just walked in for a two hour trial with my pup ... walked right out after the one woman lady was so rude and Uninviting . I wouldn’t leave anyone’s dog with that lady.

IT'S BEEN 3 DAYS AFTER THE HAIRCUT! (Pictures attached) I am shocked by how this place is so highly reviewed! I shouldn't have trusted ALL these reviews! my Yorkie is 11 yo and I had a lot of different experiences, but this was the most disappointed! Even though customer service is good, the reception guy and the lady on the phone were nice to me, the haircut itself is just terrible. The groomer took 30 min to do full haircut with a bath and cleaning ears and nails etc. They had many appointments that day - maybe he was rushing or the person was new - but it was far away from the normal even bad haircut, he just randomly trimmed his hair with a razor, and his legs look like he was in a fight with other dogs, also his fur is already fine that's why he needs a clean cut - instead groomer trimmed away all the fulness and thickness, and opposite didn't trim enough his belly and the butt. The most important - my Yorkies head all uneven! Honestly, I can do better job just by spending more time with scissors. You can check attached pictures

Mila (species: canine) loves LIC Doghouse. We are long time visitors (4 years!) of our dog visiting every day for daycare. Everyone on the staff is a delight to see every morning and evening. They take excellent care of mila - I trust them fully. I highly recommend!

Both my dogs had grooming done here. Cuts came out great, grooming was quick, and the puppers smelled very good. Both dogs seemed happy when I picked them up. Will very likely be using them in the future.

I bring my pooch to the groomer he feels relaxed and no nicks or cuts on his body. I'm begining to trust them.

I did not bring my dog back to this daycare after the bad experience I had registering. The staff seemed dismissive over the phone, and unprofessional in person. My dog attends daycare elsewhere (Houndstown USA, phenomenal!) twice a week since he was a puppy. I was looking for a local daycare that I could use when I visit family in NYC. I contacted Doghouse LIC twice by phone to confirm availability and what I had to do to get my dog signed up properly. I was informed by an older sounding woman that there was a form to fill out and an initial screening after which my pet could be refused and I would have to come get them. This was fine except when I tried to ask a question, I was promptly hung up on. Ok, maybe it was a disconnected line. I call back and schedule an interview for a Sunday at 1pm. I then get hung up on again! But ok, I was desperate. I show up for my interview with my dog at 12:45. there is one very young female employee at the front desk. She seems confused as to there being a new intake that day. But ok, I will out the form and provide her with a full folder of pet records. I complete the first and am told to wait for the person who will do the intake testing. So I wait but after about 20 minutes I follow up. Apparently "The person who was supposed to do the test is running late". At this point it is almost 2 so I'm surprised I was not told about this when I walked in. A very very young petite girl rushes in and put on a uniform. She barely acknowledges me and takes my dog for the intake exam. He is taken into the back area where a large dog begins to jump on the employee. And she seems to have trouble wrangling the pack of dogs to do the exam. I watch for a few minutes and have some concerns as to why my dog (40lbs) is being put into an enclosure with dogs 100+ lbs with an employee who seems unable to manage the area. Apprehensively I leave. A few blocks away, I realize I left my veterinary info on the reception desk and head back. The receptionist rushes over and goes "you have to take your dog. We can't do the intake exam. The tester has to leave". I ask why this is the case when I had scheduled by interview weeks ago. The employee apologizes and returns my dog. As I walk out, the tester runs out at full speed, not acknowledging the situation I am not sure what was going on and I understand that scheduling, and emergencies happen. However, the professionalism of the staff, the complete lack of communication, and the apparent lack of proper training and experience handling dogs mean I am looking elsewhere for daycare. I am sure the scheduling would be rectified over time, but personally what I saw happening in the enclosures did not reflect a staff who were trained to properly handle a dog daycare.

Great place. They'll give your dog lots of love and for a good price. Plus their building is connected to a really good vet.
