We adopted little puppy Taps yesterday and the whole process was made so easy. Michele was great as the middle man to our adoption process! Everyone responded in a super timely manner. His foster mom Lily was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. So happy to have our new family member! His big sister loves him.

Last March we adopted our Jack and just a few days ago, Oreo. Both are through Homeward bound. Going through the application and interview process, it is evident that Homeward Bound cares very deeply about the placement of their animals. They ensure that the dogs are going to families who will not just take excellent care of the babies that they rescue but that these pups will be endlessly loved. We are now a family with 3 dogs and couldn’t be happier with them. The foster Moms and Dads take excellent care of the dogs and truly care about finding them loving homes. We had the pleasure of first working with Dyahn for Jacks adoption. She was wonderful, attentive and brought Jack to our home for us to meet. Rob was Oreo’s Dad and he was equally responsive and answered all our questions. He also was patient with us as we wanted to make sure Oreo would be a good fit not just for jack but also Oreo as they weren’t fans of each other at first. After several visits they were fine and we couldn’t be happier with the addition of Oreo to our family. It would not have been possible without Rob’s patience. Thank you Homeward Bound, Dyahn, and Rob!

We applied to adopt and never got a response. Their website says they are open Saturdays, but also says they are not open due to COVID. The huge sign on their building says they are open Saturdays, but then they turn you away at the door. Application is a huge time eater and doesn't get an acknowledgement.

We love our boy! We are so thankful to HB for giving us the opportunity of adopting our new family member! The adoption process was easy, they were quick to respond, and the fosters and volunteers are saints for what they do!

Awesome organization. The volunteers and foster homes are the best. They all deserve medals. Benji isn’t the first adoption from homeward bound. Will not be the last. Thank you Homeward bound for allowing us to adopt.

Homeward Bound is the best. They knew he was a good boy! Absolutely sweet boy. Previous owners said he was bad boy but he’s wonderful and loving.

We had been looking for a puppy for some time. We had contacted several other adoption agencies but either never heard back or were told they would require a fenced yard, but we live on a dead end. Finally we heard of HB and was accepted very quickly and within a week we adopted Clove (now Zoe). She is a very welcomed, loved and spoiled addition to our family. Thanks HB staff!

Homeward Bound is a great pet rescue group who makes sure to the rescue animals go to good homes. They provide good support during the adoption process. They do a great job trying to rescue as many animals as possible. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because of an incident that began with my puppy while he was at the foster parent’s, the fallout I had to deal with after, and the short term medical problems my puppy had to go through. It was an innocent error made by the foster and a series of unfortunate dominos that followed. However, I appreciate and respect the difficult job of the rescuers and fosters who are all volunteering their time and energy to helping innocent abandoned animals and I don’t blame them for the situation. Even with the unique and unfortunate situation I experienced, I would still recommend Homeward Bound. They are committed to the animals and for me that’s number one.

Very happy you rescued Cupcake now Luna. We love her so much and blessed to have her. Thank you for all you do to help these little friends. We are so thankful for Homeward Bound. All have been great to work with and understanding. Luna is doing great and growing up fast. She was a lucky little girl that they found her and her siblings. Thank you again.

After losing our beloved husky to cancer earlier this year, my husband and I decided to adopt a rescue dog. We attempted to work with a few rescues in the area but many were non responsive and some were just rude. Homeward Bound was amazing! Mind you it was during the pandemic and they weren't running clinics. We met up with a couple of the foster families to meet the dogs they were hosting. It took a few meets before we found the right match for us and all of the volunteers were incredibly patient and understanding. Our pup, Dax, has been with us for a few minths now. He is a super sweet boy and a great fit for us. Months later, the folks at HBR are still great at answering questions and offering support. I would recommend this rescue to anyone serious about expanding their family.

Homeward Bound Rescue went above & beyond in getting us a rescue dog from KY. One of their people even drove the dog to us from Albany. We could not love LOGAN more & would highly recommend this rescue if you are looking to help a dog in need enjoy the rest of his life.

I’m not one to put out a review on anything but I feel like this should be said for those eagerly looking to grow their family by adding a fur baby addition. I took my time to carefully read through all the adoption information on their website so I was taking all the correct steps and had a good chance of adopting a puppy. I filled out my first application and got an email not much time after which made me so excited. I emailed back answering all their questions but then never heard back. About a month later I filled out another application. I got an email shortly after that. I again, answered all their questions. Days went by and nothing. So I emailed them in a very professional manner explaining I’m very serious about adopting and would love to adopt from them. I got an email soon after that with another question in which I answered. Never heard back and it’s been some time now. I’m very disappointed if this is the way they work. Be real with people. If their application was denied then tell them especially if they’re showing such interest. I’ve seen several reviews with the same sorta issues. Just please keep these reviews in mind so if something similar happens to you, it’s not so unexpected but it is still a little heartbreaking especially to those family’s who are so excited about growing their family’s. Thanks

Great place. Would recommend them for anyone looking to adopt in the Albany NY, Upstate area.

If they don't like you they ask for documents not mentioned. If you had a dog 5 years ago and don't have records and the Vet clinic closed down, they require the records. Not a fair decision when you've done nothing wrong. Be careful giving too much information when not required

We adopted our baby through HB. Our rescue puppy was in excellent health, had great foster care and follow up support from HB. I highly recommend.

We adopted our Chihuahua mix Eva in March. The process was very easy, and Eva’s foster parents shared a lot of helpful information about our new pup. Eva was already microchipped, vaccinated, and spayed. We had her polished on her potty skills within 2 weeks. Eva has completed our family and Homeward Bound was a pleasure to work with.

Selfless humans pulling canine innocents and surgical cases from overcrowded kill shelters. What's more to say.

We recently adopted through Homeward Bound and could not be happier. Kona (formally Denise) is such an even tempered, social dog. Exactly what we were looking for. The agency and the family who fostered her did an amazing job. We would totally recommend adopting through Homeward Bound.

We adopted a young dog from Homeward Bound Rescue in March 2021. He was healthy, fully caught up on vaccinations, neutered, and well taken care of. We received a packet of his medical history, his microchip info, and tips on new puppy ownership. We visited a volunteer's foster home, (which was clean and welcoming), to pick him up. 10/10 would recommend!

Glad to see many other reviews saying the same thing and that it’s not just me. Do not expect a response once filling out an application, even if you send a follow up email. You would think an adoption agency would want to find their dogs forever homes, not ignore those who want to rescue their dogs.
