I'm so impressed with Dr. Thornton and the whole Penfield Vet office. I am a first time dog mom, so of course I get nervous over little things. I appreciate that every time I call the office, the receptionists work with Dr. Thornton and myself to see if I need to come in, or if I can do a few things at home, which saves me time, money and makes me feel at ease that he's okay! I had some questions about my dog yesterday that didn't require needing an appointment, so I decided to email instead of call since it wasn't urgent. Dr. Thornton responded within about 24 hours and was so detailed and helpful. I could tell that she put a lot of thought into how she could help my specific dog. Thank you for going above and beyond and being someone that I can trust with my fur baby!

had my main doctor leave Irondequoit animal hospital and start own business, and I wasn't disclosed???? when my dog was 10 years old very upsetting. It's still a great vet the around a quiet animal hospital however when your dog is 10 years old that's when they need the most care and my dog always had problems so that was very upsetting to me. However; penfield veterinarian hospital definitely came through former and continues to. Thank you Dr. Braydon.

Excellent veterinary practice! I have been going here for years; their skill and compassion are beyond measure. I know my pets are in the best care. We see Dr. Braaten…he is absolutely wonderful to work with and treats each pet as though they are his own.

Do yourself a favor and go someplace else. I brought my dog here when he was a puppy 10 years ago for his first rabies vaccination before moving out of state. A few years ago, I moved to South Africa with my dog and when I called this vet again to see if they could help with an international move (since Dr. Herrema is supposedly an international vet) I was told that moving a dog to South Africa was not possible – but another vet helped me successfully import my dog into South Africa with no problems. Just recently I moved back to the US and contacted this vet for a simple rabies certificate (a normally free and easy request) and was told that my dog received his vaccination before they had the system which produced certificates rabies (not sure how this is my problem) and they could not create one. Since I literally needed this to import my dog back into the US, Dr. Herrema finally agreed to draft a letter with the certificate information and charged me $40 for the “background research” required to write the letter (still not sure what research he is referring to). The staff was also incredibly rude during this process. I have brought my dog to several different vets and this experiences was by far the worst, and it is still haunting me 10 years later.

My cat started not feeling well and I didn’t have a vet in town I called and made an appointment they were very nice after the appointment I had some questions I was able to email them and call and they got back to me right away they were so nice and they took good care of him unfortunately his condition was something that couldn’t be fixed as he declined and health they responded to all of my questions almost immediately they were so wonderful and kind and I would recommend them to everyone thank you guys so much for taking great care of my cat

The staff here is very rude. Called about pricing for my cat to be neutered and was told "If you can't afford a pet, you shouldn't have one" not sure how asking how much something costs equals being poor. You can never get a straight answer when trying to schedule things or getting advice on health of your pets. Staff is not caring at all, called about my cat (who was a patient here) when he wouldn't eat or move and was barely drinking water. I was told if he hasn't stopped peeing it's not an emergency... My cat has since passed from kidney failure, I guess it was an emergency after all. Overly priced, stuck up attitude and rude. They do not care about you or your pets well being.

We love everyone at Penfield Vet. They always take such good care of my pup and are patient with her because she’s nervous around strangers.

Issue after issue and no resolution. So frustrating to be not listened to and not have a doc who considers all of the symptoms, all of the cats and the family that cares for them. Did I mention unreasonably expensive?

The staff here are incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate, best place in the area. They took great care of my girl, and she was excited to go back. Highly recommend

I continue to use Penfield vet even though we moved out of town because I trust them. They're reliable, helpful, concerned, and caring.

I've always had great experiences here with all of the staff. Everyone has been friendly and kind when explaining what was going on with my cat. The practice is handling covid very well with curbside drop-off of your pets for exams. No issues or complaints, and I've found prices to be fair.

Dr. Thornton is the best! She spent almost a half hour on the phone with us after hours on a Saturday. She thoroughly answered our questions and is very knowledgeable. Dr.Thornton gave us comfort and put our minds at ease! Thank you so much!

Excellent, the staff are always very knowledgeable and eager to help. I have moved and I was in.need of my cats record's,. They were sent to me within the hour. All of the doctors that we saw were very good and were wonderful with my cats and we're extremely knowledgeable about what is happening with their health, but also how to calm their anxiety.

We love Penfield Vets. They take great care of our cat. She loves the people there! We also board her there when we travel.

Even during covid they just make it so easy to make sure our fur baby is taken care of.

Over a 30 year span, I have adopted several cats. We have always come to Penfield Veterinary hospital for their care. Recently Dr. Braaten has been my babies ' caregiver, and he is wonderful to with them.

They have been the most welcoming practice! My puppy had a reaction to a bite from something and they were so responsive and helpful! I would cal and call and they were nothing but nice and reassuring! When I apologized they made me feel like I was not a burden at all! From the front desk to the Vet, they are all wonderful! I highly recommend bringing your pet here! They make you fee like your concerns are heard and validated!!

After having my concerns ignored by my previous vet, I looked for a second opinion. The folks over here at Penfield Vet are wonderful. They listen and really try to figure out what’s going on. They care for your pet on a deep level. After one visit they have already exceeded my expectations and I am confident they are going to help my cat Smokey feel better in no time!

I have been taking my dogs (and now cats) to Penfield Veterinary Hospital for many years. Dr.B. knows us very well and always takes the time to explain things and help in the office or by phone call.
