I've been a supporter of North Shore Animal League America for years. The first TWO sister who I ever adopted (who've since passed on), turned out to be the Best felines, ever. The Veterinarians are very good & caring more about the animals, than filling their wallets. There have been 1-2 whom I was not 100% comfortable with (as in most clinics), so I stay with the one(s) I do! After having lost my previous furry feline, in Aug 2021, I thought it was time to re-adopt.. I LOVE these 2 baby boys! The care that's been given to them while they awaited their forever home is beyond measure: GREAT! If I was an animal there, I may have chosen to stay; it's resort-like! And everyone who works there is there with their heart and the animals interests as #1! The facility is IMMACULATE! There is absolutely NO odor from the many who are housed there. To me, there is none other! NSALA does an extensive check before letting one of the 4-leggeds go into any home. They do not just give to anyone! And I LIKE THAT A LOT! Thank you NSALA! ????????

My little toy poodle Mimi is one year old now. She's never walked or run with her right hind leg after visiting the pet doctor in this summer. Before we sent her to see the doctor, she can run and walk with that leg. But the problem was that she often lifted it up and reluctantly to use it. We knew she might feel painful if she used it because she always kept this leg up since she was born. We went to see the doctor at North Shore Animal League America in Port Washington in hoping to help Mimi. But after the examination by the doctor (we don't know what the doctor did on Mimi's leg), we were told Mini had knee problem and need a surgery. We were charged $230 for some pain relief medications and got a couple of contacts of pet hospital for surgery. After coming back home, my Mimi can not use her hind leg any more. We don't know what happened to her in the hospital. We don't want to go back to the hospital again. We don't want the doctor check Mimi again. We don't want to be charged hundreds dollars again to buy medicine that you'll never know if it works.

Two years ago, I fostered and then adopted two cats. My experience with NSALA has only been positive. They are professional, care very much for the pet's health and well being, and are proactive. The only drawback is that they are so much in demand, it is often hard to get through on the phone or make an appointment.

I would not trust my pets in any other hands than NSALA Medical Center. Their doctors are phenomenal. The veterinarians are caring, detailed, genuine. They listen and respect your input and feelings. They guide you with choices and are straight with you - honest. Dr. Verdino the Chief of Staff is amazing. The staff values your pet and explores every option with you when choices have to be made as to your beloved pet's care. From the front desk to the technicians to the doctors - everyone is there for you with kindness and empathy. A++++

Took my cat Louie whom I adopted through NSAL for his neutering. There were no long lines and the vet went over everything with me, and answered all my concerns.I dropped him off at 7:30 and picked him up at 2:00. He was handed back to me and was thoroughly instructed on his aftercare. The time I spent dropping and picking him up was around 15 minutes total. Made a not so pleasant experience very doable. Thank you!

I WILL NOT BE RETURNING! My dog has gotten his annual check-up at this location for many years and I have never had any issues with staff. They have always treated me with decency, behaved professionally and have been informative. I am someone that is constantly doing research but am still learning about my dog. I always try to do the best that I can for my dog and he is very healthy. He is my first and only dog. Unfortunately due to a lack of knowledge/experience I did not know that I was doing something that could potentially cause my dog harm down the road, when the doctor saw us, instead of politely informing me ONCE, I had to hear about it 10 MORE TIMES. The following conversation/questions presumed in an accusatory tone and she continued to bash and patronize me. DR. LAUREN GATANAS persisted in scrutinizing, and tormenting me about my mistake. Completely unnecessary and unprofessional behavior. As a "professional" you should not treat pet owners in that way especially when they are trying to remedy the situation, HENCE ME TAKING MY DOG TO THE VET AND MENTIONING THE PROBLEM!!!! I AM NOT PAYING YOU TO JUDGE NOR BERATE ME. Think about it, if someone was intentionally trying to harm their dog I don't think that they would take their dog to the veterinary out of concern over an issue. You should really LEARN TO BE HELPFUL since that is your job TO HELP! Never again will I pay you so that you can treat me that way. I will take your feedback 100% but I WILL GO ELSEWHERE FROM NOW ON. Thanks for the TERRIBLE experience. LEARN to be more understanding and be helpful by educating your clients.

I los be in the city of Manhattan and on limited funds but love our dog Coby to death and would go anywhere with a great reputation to make sure that he gets proper care. With that said North shore animal League has amazing fair prices and the people there dedicated to the awesome pet'care!

Wonderful experience today with our one yr old kitty Iris! She had a wellness exam and vaccines . She was taken on time and Covid precautions were observed. The vet then called and reviewed her exam and provided us with instructions . Everyone was super friendly , experienced and professional. Iris said it was a purrfect vet visit ! ????????

I've adopted several pets from North Shore Animal League and all have become well-loved members of my family. The care provided by North Shore is professional, the staff are thoughtful and the doctors are so easy to speak with: they have always been available to discuss my pets condition and the most appropriate treatment. Highly recommend North Shore for adoptions and subsequent care.

I’ve adopted many animals from North Shore over 20yrs. The staff from the adoption process on are always kind, caring , and friendly. The doctors always provide excellent service to ensure stress free visits for your animal as well as you. If your looking to adopt a pet, look no further. It will be an enjoyable process .

We adopted a puppy recently from North Shore Animal League and brought her in for a follow up to the Pet Health Center; the Vet and staff were very friendly, answered all of our questions and took great care of our puppy. They’re awesome, I highly recommend them!!

I am now on my third adoption from this wonderful place, beginning way back in 1992. It’s hard for me to believe that anyone would ever buy a dog when this facility has some of the loveliest dogs you’ll ever see. I also come to NSAL for any care my adopted lovelies have needed, ranging from regular check-ups to four surgeries on Tuxie, doggie #2. The staff here is excellent, and the animals are always treated with respect, warmth, and endless love! As to the surgeries - I am a retired oral and maxillofacial surgeon myself, and am quite aware of what well-done surgeries and outcomes are supposed to look like. Dr. Juliana Dunlop has done the surgeries with skill, dedication, and a lot of heart. Her technique and outcomes are as good as any I’ve ever seen done on humans. I couldn’t ask for a safer or better place to take my beloved poochies!

Took my furry baby for her wellness/ sick visit. We were checked it quickly, little wait time. Due to covid we had to wait in the car. The vet called and explained everything & answered all my concerns. Very satisfied with the care provided. Highly recommend.

THEY ARE NOT TAKING NEW PATIENTS WHEN YOU CALL FOR AN APPOINTMENT. THEY SHOULD AT LEAST LET PEOPLE KNOW ON THEIR WEBSITE SO PEOPLE DONT HAVE TO WAIT ON THE PHONE THINKING THAT THEY CAN GET ONE.

I have never had such a positive experience at a vet as I have had at North Shore’s Pet Center! EVERY PERSON I interacted with appears to genuinely care for the animals they treat, which is so reassuring for a pet parent in distress. Plus the superior care and the super reasonable prices make this the No.1 choice for me and my pet!!! Thank you all ????????

My Wife an I adopted a puppy from North Shore Animal League. Brought him to the Veterinarian for a visit (he ate something that didn’t agree with him) the staff was very helpful, professional and thorough. The visit was covered and the adoption fee was very reasonable. Great staff great experience and THE BEST DOG!!

Top notch place for your dog to stay when you are away. They give my dog blue dog good and boiled chicken. Very personable and caring staff and ownership makes things so easy.

Very attentive to your pets; however, they take a long time to answer the phone. Expect waiting 20 minutes on the phone

Adopters beware... Neglectful and unprofessional. Our dog was overdosed after telling them we didn't want to get any shots for our dog because of his age but they insisted on giving him 4 shots and when we got home our dog could no longer walk and breathe and lost all motor function... This was all because of the opinion of a remedial vet... Kaitlyn Zaino. NSALA is not looking in the best interest of your pet, they are greedy! Old or stressed dogs should definitely NOT go here because of covid regulations, you can't go inside with your dog. You're going for your dog/cat to get looked at by vet techs! The vets are never consistent or just plain not there!

I adopted my dogs from North Shore Animal League. They have the best qualified staff and volunteers. My dogs were so nervous going in and came out very calm and happy. The service is fast and easy. I have recommended to everyone I know with pets to go there!
