I cannot say enough good things about the vets and staff at Carling. They are the best. They always take the time to talk to you and get to know your fur baby. I stumbled upon them after trying a couple other places for my bunny. It is extremely hard to find someone who knows how to properly treat bunnies. I completely trust the care my bunnies receive at Carling. Won't go anywhere else.

I wouldn’t recommend for any animal more exotic than rabbits. I had 6 rats and 5 had health issues, when I took them in for any issue I was told they had a respiratory infection and prescribed antibiotics for them. 3 had cancer and ended up having to be put down by an emergency vet and one passed away with no improvement on the antibiotics. I did bring in the other 2 to be put down when their cancer had visibly advanced and they were very nice in those situations but I don’t think they have a vet that’s knowledgeable enough about rats to be caring for them.

Have been going here for many years and am usually completely satisfied -- but today saw a vet tech swinging a cat carrier (with a cat inside) pretty hard, banging it around a bit, as she carried it inside from the car. Very upsetting and disappointing. Doesn't inspire confidence, esp since we can't go inside with our pets due to COVID restrictions. Normally this is a 4-5 star place, but this incident shocked me and makes me questions their standard of care.

The Carling Animal Hospital took amazing care of my ferret through her illness (3 years). When it came time to say goodbye, they were the so gentle and compassionate. Dr. Clement, and all staff were so helpful and kind. You can tell that they love what they do. I highly recommend!

Covid safe, competent with rabbits, lovely kind receptionists, the veterinarians always take the time to explain things. They doodled little hearts on the paper bag for my rabbit's medication, what more does one need?

While you have lots of options for vets if you own cats and dogs, guinea pigs are significantly harder to find a vet for. Out of all the vets in Ottawa we've tried in the last 10 years, no one looks after the health of our guinea pigs like the vets at the Carling Animal hospital. With covid, most appointments are now done without pet owners entering the hospital. Someone comes out to retrieve your pet, and then you go through symptoms, diagnosis and a treatment plan over the phone. When we had to put one of our little ones down a couple months ago, they let us in to the building, into a private room so we could be with her as she passed. They were extremely considerate and let us have as much time as we needed in spite of the pandemic. We could not have been treated better.

This hospital needs to be very clear about the telemedicine fee, instead they tell you that it goes towards the first initial exam fee. I spoke to the vet and the vet was very pleasant but also tried to sell optional vaccines that I bought into. After the call I received an email with useful information and prices of the oncoming vaccines. They are charging almost double compared to other clinics, so I had to cancel after finding another clinic way less expensive. Carling animal hospital is very expensive in my opinion. My previous clinic doesn’t take new patients so I needed to find a new clinic/hospital. I was still charged the telemedicine fee that I understood was really the first exam fee. So I loose out on nearly a 100$ for just speaking to the vet, in my opinion that’s unfair and robbery. Would anyone wanna talk to a vet on the phone and be charged a 100$ without your puppy ever being seen. I don’t!!!! They do not agree so I’m going to my bank to fight it. Not going to pay 2 exam fee one rightfully so and the other for talking to a vet for 22 mins. That was very fast money!!

It would be nice if they communicate effectively when someone isn't in. What if this was a more urgent matter? I'm still waiting on a response from a doctor. Why is it that no one could recommend me anything in an office with multiple doctors? Or at least tell me that the one with knowledge on the matter wasn't in that day. Not happy. They could be more gentle with carrying a cats carrier into a vehicle as well since she is a nervous cat. I will be getting a second opinion.

I was booked for an appointment at 1:30. I called when I arrived to let them know I was in the parking lot. After 25 min of waiting I call again to see why my dog hasnt been seen. At 2:00 someone finally comes out to get my dog. At this point they cant gaurantee what time my dog would be done seeing the vet. Keep in mind this visit is for a minor ear ache so I brought my dog on my lunch break. I had no idea checking ears would take well over an hour. What I dont understand is I have to pay $100 just for my dog to be seen at this clinic. So I would expect for some customer service. It would have been nice if someone would have called me and to say the vet is running late or to book an appropiate time slot. If I had known the appointment was at 2 I would have declined it. I would expect this curtisy with any service I was receiving.

Can't say enough good things about Carling Animal Hospital. We brought our pug here for 14+ years, they were extremely helpful and caring. My dog actually enjoyed going to the vet. They were extremely compassionate when his time came and they went above and beyond to make sure that we were OK as well. That was a year and a half ago. We just brought our new pug puppy in for his first check, and the staff were amazing as always. Some new faces since we were here last but they treated us like family. Shout out to Dr. Clement (we look forward to seeing you once again) she is absolutely amazing, as are the rest of the doctors. Great team all around ! Thank you all !

Very expensive. Confusing bills. Trying to be "holier than Pope" with self-imposed Covid-related limitations. Taking my pets elsewhere.

My basset hound Donnatella Furcase developed an issue with her eye, the team at Carling went above and beyond to help support me through the process of treating, and making informed decisions about her care. Donna ended up needing surgery to remove her eye, which was performed here. The after care was amazing. Renee Tailwagger is her sister, and both are 11 years old. They LOVE their regular visits for nail trims now, and the experience is always wonderful. I feel incredibly confident that I'll be cared for, while my babies receive the best in love and care. In a world of expensive and confusing care, this team does the best job of ensuring everyone's needs are met, and costs are kept minimal and reasonable.

Dr. Ballantine is a fantastic vet! Extremely thorough and kind through difficult circumstances (cancer diagnosis for dog). The clinic is quick to respond and despite covid, curbside pickup works great.

I visited this place during covid lockdown so I was not able to enter the office or meet the staff, however the service was very thorough. They marked the parking spots 1-5 and a staff member comes to your car to retrieve or return your pet, deliver any medications and take payment. Through each step of the visit they call you to discuss the exam, treatment and costs, the doctor was thorough and I don't feel like I missed anything by waiting outside. My only complaint is that it took a long time, over an hour and a half, with half of that being waiting before and after the appointment for payment. Not so bad if you have a comfortable car and patient pet, I will be returning despite the wait. They booked my appointment within a week while other clinics have a 4 week wait time which is a bonus.

Friendly staff who are more than happy to provide a bit of extra info for first time pet owners. So far I've dealt with two vets and both were very helpful and communicative when it came to future costs with detailed estimates.

I just got off the phone with the reception staff. I am having an extreme issue with my dog where he may be having reaction to medication given to him. I was requesting a second opinion on course of treatment and the staff made it very clear to me that not only could she not fit me in untill two weeks from now she informed me that would be too late for my dog. I absolutely could not believe it. When I asked for her recommendation on what to do to help him, she reiterated that she didn't have anything available. Terrible, terrible service.
