My good friend had to make an emergency visit to this clinic with his cat this morning. The team here has amazing service and treated my friend with kindness and made time to answer every question he had. Dr. Gordon and Dr Nichols were helpful, pleasant, and very thorough. I have allergies BTW and not once did I sneeze or have a fit; this place is very clean. I am really glad my friend came here because a sick pet is hard enough to deal with. Knowing that his feline fellow is safe and well taken care means more than I can describe with words. Thank you sooooo much!

I called earlier today to ask if I needed an appointment and I was told no . In addition I was told that currently there are 10 patients and I asked if it was ok for me to come in and the response was “ Sure. “ I took a cab and arrived in less than 25 min to be told that “ I am sorry , we don’t take anyone for the next 3 hours ! Please proceed to the nearest clinic on East 66 street” . That clinic is closed ! Thank you for your support ! I still don’t understand why I was told it’s was ok to come . I am not coming back to the same place .

I can't express how grateful I am for the staff here. I apologize I don't remember everyone's name. My rabbit had an injury and went into bunny shock, which I had never experienced before and was terrifying. At 5am I called and one of the staff members who I believe was a nurse picked up and immediately asked the doctor if she was comfortable with rabbits, which she was. I actually called two other emergency vets and they both weren't enthusiastic about seeing a bunny. I was seen immediately when I got in. The entire staff was amazing and calming. Dr. Cheng was a god-send. Super reassuring, but also someone I felt that if my rabbit wasn't getting better, she'd know what to do. They took his temperature, did a physical exam, watched him hop around a bit, and educated me about what happened and what to do if it happens again. Below is a picture of him hopping around under their Christmas tree. He's already doing much better, started eating again, and doesn't seem as scared. I am so grateful for this team and would HIGHLY recommend to anyone and everyone.

My 18.5 year old cat Bagel hasn't been himself in the last month and last week he was declining quickly. I needed to find an emergency vet ASAP and read reviews on all the ones in UES. I decided to come here. All the staff were friendly and super supportive last Wednesday when I took Bagel in to get checked. I did not receive great news that day and the vet (who was amazing!) said she'd be supportive of whatever I wanted to do whether additional testing to find out more or if i wanted to understand their euthanasia process. She did give Bagel an ultrasound and that's when we discovered, that would indicate a mass and potentially assumed lymphoma. I was not prepared to euthanize him that very moment and asked if I could take a day or two to spend more time with him but that'd I'd make a decision very soon. She did say not to take too long. Unfortunately, Bagel and his body made the decision the following afternoon and he passed on his own on Thursday ????. I brought him back in immediately and again the staff showed so much empathy, sympathy and support. I choice to get a personal cremation as Bagel meant so much to me, he was my child... my baby... my little man and I want to ensure I got a part of him back. RIP Bagel and thank you VEG for helping me through this difficult process.

Overall, this is a great place I would recommend to anyone with a pet in crisis. The minus 1 star is because it was pretty expensive ($1k for the emergency vet visit, x-rays, and some pain meds, only to be told my kitten had gotten too rowdy and probably just sprained a leg--but still glad to know it's nothing too serious!). To be fair, I have no idea how this price compares to the going rate for these services in Manhattan, I just know that in my hometown, these emergency vet services would cost about half as much. I imagine it's more expensive here, as is everything else... That said, the service and the staff themselves were fantastic! All of the people I talked to there were very kind and clearly loved animals, and even though it was pretty busy there, they managed to find us a quiet room to wait with our cat, away from the huge dogs in the waiting room. The person who did the physical exam and explained our treatment choices was even kind enough to share what she would do in our situation, and it ended up saving us a little money in the end. Considering it was an emergency vet, we didn't have to wait around TOO long to be seen, which we were grateful for, as our cat had had a very long and stressful day. Having come from a really terrible non-emergency vet who carried around our 7 month old cat by the scruff and shoved her back into her carrier, where we had to wait on the busy street for 10 minutes before waiting in a cramped hallway for another 20 minutes to be seen... this place was refreshingly considerate of our cat!

They were very attentive and compassionate, they immediately understood how severe was our case and they helped us being admitted for emergency surgery at the closest animal hospital. I can't explain how grateful we are with Veterinary Emergency Group. Many thanks to Dr. Reilly and all the amazing staff.

All of the staff at VEG were incredible! I had one of the best experiences here that I've ever had with a vet before. The front staff members are very sweet and knowledgeable. Sam, Dr. Rey and Richard were all so kind and patient with my cat, and walked me through everything that they were doing step by step which made me feel really comfortable and at ease. Sam even went the extra mile of clipping my cat's nails and cleaning his ears while he was sedated. As the owner of a very difficult cat to manage, I highly recommend this place!

I never ever post a review but I just had to for how amazing this place is. The receptionist Melissa is AMAZING! As also are all the nurses and doctor. I took my dog in and was taken care of right away. Doctor sat down explained all our options and got my dog feeling way better. IF YOUR ANIMAL IS SICK PLEASE BRING THEM HERE! They are very caring and genuinely go above and beyond.

Our cat, Mo, wasn’t doing too well so I wanted to make sure he was in the best care for treatment and make sure he was comfortable. I researched and looked at other emergency hospitals before VEG, and I am SO glad Mo ended up here. Dr. Carlie and Dr. Stephanie and the ENTIRE staff went above and beyond to make Mo feel safe and comfortable. Dr. Carlie gave us possible outcomes based off of what he was currently going through, and what his body may or may not be able to take. Our final decision ended up being based off of what his blood levels were, and we made an informed and right decision for Mo’s situation. VEG allowed us as much time as we needed to say goodbye. We unfortunately had to put Mo to sleep, and he went peacefully. VEG — I highly recommend them. VEG cares as much for your pet as you do.

I brought my cat, Boomie, who was vomiting for about 3 days and wouldn't eat. Dr. Rey and the nursing staff took really good care of Boomie. The staff was so professional, and Dr. Rey kept me in the loop and frequently checked in with me to update me on Boomie's status. My cat is now herself again and doing well. I highly recommend this group if your pet needs emergent care.

Our regular emergency clinic didn’t have any slots available so we just randomly picked best reviewed one from google maps in the general area and I’m so glad we did, because it was the best care for my pet I’ve seen in an emergency clinic. Every single staff member was absolutely amazing, the reception, vets and all the technicians that we saw. I love that my dog was taken care of in such a calm and organised manner, as well as we were able to stay with him the whole time, which most likely reduced his stress of being in new environment with new people as he’s still a pup and not feeling too good on top of that. I’ve also noticed that other people and their pets were very calm, which is not that common in emergency clinics at all. We received after visit notes in email and I think it’s the most detailed notes I’ve ever gotten for my pets, it left no questions and covered all the possibilities, i can always go back to it and read it. We’ll only be taking our pets here for emergencies from now on. They have little fridge magnets available in reception( i took couple extra to give to my family with pets) so in case of anything, you don’t have to scramble looking for phone number.

They took care of my Ippo. Despite not being able to bring him back home because of a terminal illness, I was able to hold him and spend as much time with him before laying him to rest. I’m currently pregnant and they made sure I was okay. It’s hard letting one baby go while one is entering the world soon. They were very caring. Thank you for everything

Veg Vet is a totally incredible emergency facility. I am a SICU nurse and I am amazed at the level of skill of the staff and technical abilities of the facilities. I felt like I was in a loving, caring, knowledgeable and fully equipped environment capable of handling any and all emergencies. I especially commend the caliber of the staff. Nurses -RICHARD ROSARIO, Natalie and Ashley were skilled at their jobs, Receptionist -Lisa and Michelle were welcoming, inviting and pleasant and above all Dr Shilisberg was knowledgeable attentive and very communicative. I spent a few days looking for a place to take my 14 yo feline and could not have asked for or found Better. They are Top Notch. You will not be disappointed. Just so you know animal care in NYC is pricey, might as well spend the money for the BEST. Thank You for calming my concerns. Darlene Ricco and FEME (Meeooww)

I took my dog last night who ate some mouse poison. They quickly induced vomiting and examined the vomit. Then they gave him some medication to clean his stomach and help with the acid lining. When I took my dog home that evening, he was completely normal and has been great since. The staff was fast, helpful and sweet. I got the feeling that everyone at this location truly loves animals.

Orejas, my 7 years old puddle had an emergency. He had a glass cut underneath one of his legs. All the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. The receptionists were on point always addressing my doubts and letting me know what’s happening at every moment. Dr. Cheng was the person who saw my dog, she was very energetic and patient. She thoughtfully explained me the things that had to be done to Orejas in order to clean his wound and for the upcoming recovery. After that, another member of the staff came to help, his name is Josue. He really showed interest in helping and did his best to ensure Orejas well-being. The commitment and kindness that he showed is something that will be remember and always appreciate it by my family. He was simply awesome. 5 starts to this place! I wish you guys the best.

I cannot complain about this place. My dog eats everything he finds and had accidentally chewed on an old fentanyl patch that lead to poisoning. I thought I was going to loose my baby but they took him in and did their magic and my baby was up and running within a few minutes of undergoing treatment.. the only con is that you have to call poison control yourself for a case number that the vet will have access to call and figure out the best treatment for the dog and a fee of 65 to 75 dollars just for that information

My niece dog passed away she took him to this establishment. The representative did not explain to her all the details. When she went to pick up the ashes they said if was drowned away she paid 300 for cremation and only received a certificate with a paw print. This experience was devastating to her now she has nothing to remember her dog she had for 13 years. There is no excuse for this why not explain what someone is signing she was grieving when you presented the option and didn’t explain what she was going to get horrible. People be aware if your pet passes away make sure they explain the process to you before you sign any documents

The best, most compassionate care. A few months ago, our pup was really sick with severe GI issues and we brought him here. The staff and the setup make it a calming experience (not easy when you’re worried about your dog). Some of the exam tables are in the waiting area, so you can be with your pet. Really feels like the whole business is designed to put people and pets first. Dr. Wagoner was wonderful—so kind and caring and explained everything clearly. Dr. Wagoner even took calls with us weeks later to help us find the right hospital and specialist to visit as our dog has a chronic issue. Truly outstanding care across the board.

Would absolutely recommend this place.! I took my cat in to get checked and they were quick to see me. The doctor was so nice and patient and sat down with me to explain the treatment plan they had for my cat. All the staff is very welcoming and patient with the animals and the clients. I would come again for another emergency.

I have to say that I am impressed by all of the compassion, the quality of work, and the attentiveness of the staff. They were very kind with my cat, Sebastian, even up to the final moment when I unfortunately had to put him down. My baby was diagnosed with a bony tumor in his lower jaw, and the doctor was kind but honest with me. It was either surgery, chemotherapy, or palliative care. The surgery and chemo would have been too much on a 21 year old, so we chose the palliative care and put him on pain killers, until we unfortunately had to put him to sleep yesterday. They were very kind and understanding the whole way through. They let me have my privacy with him and say goodbye to him, as well as accommodate my request to stay with him the whole way through. I will be using their services in the future. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.

Came in for my dog last night. I chose this place over the few hospitals closer to me because of their pricing. It was super affordable for a hospital in Manhattan. Dr. Glass saw my dog and she was extremely sweet, knowledgeable and informative. She knew what she was talking about and I left feeling comfortable with the info she gave me. The staff overall were so respectful and one could tell they all love animals. Emergency or not, I 100% recommend this place. Thanks everyone at VEG !

We called in with a question about our elderly dog while visiting NYC. They were so helpful over the phone and gave us a plan of action without an office visit or even a charge for their expertise. That’s a business I want to support. Thank you!!! Thank you!!!
