Dr Ficara has been my veterinarian for close to two decades. Always caring and knowledgeable. The staff is extremely personable, and a love of animals is uppermost in attitude and application of service. I can, with confidence, say that Dr. Ficara would be my veterinarian of choice, even if she did not practice in Chelsea, where I live.

Scam artists and liars. Only fishing for money. No care for the pets they attend to. Do not trust them!!!!!

I've brought my dog here a few times over the past couple of years. In the beginning I was pleased to find a friendly vet in the neighborhood. However, sometime between that first appointment year or two ago and now the service has gone down. This a long review but my key issues with downtown vet clinic are: 1. Disorganized staff and office 2. I can no longer trust the vet and her recommendations The office and staff are completely disorganized. I called for an appointment for my senior dog who may have developed diabetes. I communicated this clearly with the receptionist. I dropped him off only to get a call later that "he's all done. ready for pickup". No explanation. Nothing. I responded with, "well, what's the diagnosis". They had NO clue I was dropping him off for diabetes related reasons. They had just treated it like a regular check-up. Following that, I ended up dropping off a urine sample on Thursday and was told the results would be ready the next day. I still haven't received the results. The vet: On a previous appointment my senior dog was having digestive issues. The vet prescribed him medicine which of course temporarily fixed the issue(think antibiotics and a dog pepto). It took a second opinion and lots of internet research to find that maybe probiotics would assist. My dog has been taking a probiotic for over 6 months now and is much better. No thanks to the vet at Downtown Veterinary Clinic I'll be requesting my dog's records and taking my business elsewhere. The disorganization and lack of holistic care at Downtown Veterinary Clinic is just not good enough, especially when there are other options down the street.

The doctor and staff were so kind to me on my 20 year old Benji's last day January25. 2020. I appreciated the sign they posted in the waiting room "EUTHANASIA IN PROCESS PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL", thank you to the staff for making a truly devastating time a little more bearable.

I being blessed to have doctor Janet Ficarra as my next door vet. My older cat is 8 years of age has being a patient here since 3 weeks old. Recently the team in Downtown Veterinary Clinic saved his life. They are all caring and professional and went out of their way to help the animal. Doctor Ficarra helped me with a few rescues during the years. I brought my animals to the specialist couple of times when they just confirmed doctor Ficarra's diagnosed. She is the best. And I can highly recommend them!

This is what I have been looking for. Dr.Ficarra is very helpful and reliable. They help the dogs not just for money they care from the heart. THIS IS THE BEST CLINIC EVER FOR EVERYONE. My dog will go there for life.

Easily the worst experience I had with a vet. I made an appointment for my dog to get a shot and told them that over the phone, but when I arrived they said the shot wouldn’t be available until the following week. The moment the vet saw my dog he said he “would be a handful”. He took my dog inside for 5 minutes and said the appointment was over. The vet said he took him to the back but i watched him do everything in the lobby. My dog has had ear infections in the past and currently has a hurt lip, but the vet didn’t look at either. When the doctor was done he didn’t give an update on either of my dogs issues, but just complained and said “your dog would be the worst dog in puppy class.” Essentially, I wanted a shot for my dog, but instead Downtown Vet lazily looked him over for 5 minutes, complained about him, and charged me $95 dollars. ????‍♂️

Dr. Amy Kantor is now here and she is an excellent and gifted vet. She is the only veterinarian I have found in NYC that actually knows what is going on and treats my animals immediately to help them heal, rather than them suffering longer and dragging out treatment “trying different things” wasting our time and money. She gets what is going on with them and takes care of them well and professionally. She is incredibly knowledgeable and intelligent and my animals love her. I love her. She is truly gifted with animals. We are grateful to have found her.

I'm happy to have caring doctors, and staff, tend to both of my cats needs!

You have to really look at your pets medical records yourself. My dog was about to get shots he didn’t need.

Please do not bother to come here. I ran into this vet clinic last week to have blood test checked out for my dog. Unfortunately they had me run the test one more time charging me AGAIN! Plus 53x 3 vet visit charge for last 3days. Please Check YELP. The clinic charges you more than any other clinics.

The doctors and staff really care about the animals. They're honest and will tell you exactly what your pet needs. I haven't found another vet who I feel more comfortable with.

The office lacks organization as we were almost charged for a test already administered instead of a more comprehensive one. The doctor no longer seems passionate about what she does as, after two rounds of tests, she told us our cat was "fine" and a second opinion showed she had cancer. I wish we'd switched vets sooner

They are the most honest excellent people. DR. Ficarra is super reliable, her staff are super nice. I went through many clinics in NYC, but I am happy that I do not have to search for the vet any more. Highly recommended.

Janet and the DVC team were great with me and Tony, my malshi mix puppy. I went back and forth with my decision to have him neutered, they never pressured me. Janet gave me all the information I needed to know, then when the day came it was a great experience... at least for me. : ) Tony recovered just fine and I want to thank everyone at DVC for all their great care and support. Janet even told me how to get a coupon to help me save money. They never charge for anything without my permission and their prices are the most reasonable I have found yet. To me, they are the best Vet in NYC!
