Animal Haven New York, New York

This place is amazing. The workers and volunteers here were super nice and kind. My stepdad died and he left behind his dog. My mom was unable to care for it so she asked me to bring it in. they took her and I’m hoping she gets adopted and is placed with a good family who has the money to care for her. I will miss the dog but we gotta do what’s best for the dog and this was the best option. I plan on making a donation next week on their website.

We adopted the pupper of our dreams from here. Everything was so smooth and professional. Every single person we encountered here was so kind and knowledgable and caring toward every single animal in sight. We are so grateful for Animal Haven for bringing us our family member and allowing us to bring her to her forever home. Special shout out to Rose for being incredible and getting us right in with an appointment and facilitating our adoption!!

Awesome shelter and rescue group doing amazing work with so many animals in need. Shelters are so underfunded and under resourced and you can tell everyone goes above and beyond for the animals here. I appreciate the thorough adoption process to make sure as many good matches as possible can be made and to reduce fails/returns, which are so upsetting for both people and the animals. Please consider volunteering or adopting!

The staff was very pleasant, and very knowledgable about a hopefull new addition to our family. We recommend that all serious adopters fill out an application and help these best friends find loving forever homes.

Animal Haven is such an amazing place, clean spacious and bright. The staff there are patient, knowledgeable and so nice. Rose and Chrystal answered all my tedious questions and made the process short and incredibly sweet. The day I sent an inquiry about a dog I got a response so fast (same day)! Took home my guy Finley a week later because he needed to be neutered, have all his shots and microchip (which were all covered under the fees). Was also sent home with some puppy food for a few days as well as a leash, collar, harness and then the vaccinations were emailed. This process couldn't have gone easier (unless they delivered the dog!). May need to get a companion for our pup down the line, and if we do then it will be Animal Haven all the way.

Very nice place with an amazing caring staff. I love my furby I rescued so much. I highly refer this place.

I'm a cat momma now thanks to these guys, took awhile to get from application to final process of taking home my new love/cat. Nice and friendly staff upon meet and greet of the cats, process.

I adopted 2 dogs from them and I couldn’t imagine my life without my fur babies. The staff and volunteers are wonderful and truly love their animals.

TERRIBLE SERVICE! The adoption process is too much, they ask for too much information...including a letter from your landlord or your lease showing you are allowed to have a pet in your apartment. In my case I don't believe it was necessary due to the fact that I live in a 3 floor, 3 apartments building. But ok. I summitted everything they asked for about more than a Month ago, thet said the dog I wanted to adopt" had a meet & greet that week" but if the adoption didnt go through they would get in touch with me. Its been about 3 weeks and haven't heard from them again. They clearly don't have the courtesy or respect to get back to someone I dont know to at least say the dog was already adopted or to at least say your not fit to adopt the dog...I dont know, something! It's almost as if they do not really want the animals te get adopted. Can't say I reccomend this shelter at all.

I went by to donate over 300 dollars worth dog food and provided them a pack of wee wee pads. Little help makes a big difference.

Adopted our cat Messi over a year ago from Animal Haven and I cannot recommend them enough. They take phenomenal care of their pets, have a great facility and incredible service. They are very transparent about care and needs and really just want to make great human/pet matches. The staff there was also incredibly patient and generous regarding all of the questions we had even post adoption. We are hoping to get a dog soon and Animal Haven is the first place we will go!

Great dogs, excellent volunteers. Still on the search for the right pup, but the turnover here is quick so worth stopping in every few weeks.

Very clean and impressive as to how they accommodate and treat their animals. Would recommend as the number 1 shelter to go to.

They don’t tell you that multiple people are applying for the same dog. No updates on if you got the dog or not. It’s frustrating when all I want is to adopt a pet!!! My daughter was so disappointed we didn’t get Bella!

I try to drop in blankets and such when I can. The staff seems really sweet and I see my donations being used. I've heard great things but I never stay long enough to see any of the animals because I cry and try to take every cat, dog, basically any non-human home and already have 2 dogs and a husband in a nyc studio.

I adopted from here a few years ago, but my little Dawson passed away in June. I lost my best friend and cried a whole bunch! Fast forward to October, I met a little doggy name Dot, it love at first sight! Dottie is a joy to be around and I’m so glad I made this move, even though I still my little Dawson, I still have lots of love to give, and besides, Dawson would have wanted me to save another doggy. Thank you Kate!

Kris and I adopted Scooby Doo back in December and the whole experience with Animal Haven was great. From the moment we first stopped by to learn more to the finalized adoption, Animal Haven staff was fantastic. They made sure all was good with our dog before the final papers were signed. Because we didn’t want Scooby to stay in the shelter too long, we did the foster to adoption process and we are so happy. Scooby is the light of our day. Thank you for matching us to our first son. Shout out to Kate and Rose for being awesome and so attentive to us and the process.

A bit pricey but i love how clean and nice the staff is. The dogs are well kept in their rooms. Im happy its not a small cage. They have their bed and water and they are all separated in units. Great place but their were maybe 1 or 2 small dogs only. Hint would be to look at the website because what they have on the site is what they have in the shelter.
