I took my puppy to Newport Vet for his first appointment. Staff and doctor were friendly and helpful. Even gave a free kibble bag for our puppy.

DO NOT TOUCH OUR PETS WITH YOUR DIRTY HANDS!!! My cat left the vet with disgusting smell all over his body. Can't understand why staffs in a vet would be allowed wearing perfume to work, never experienced that in other vets. It's been a few hours and the horrible smell still linger. Plus the staffs are super rude and loud when handling your pet. If you don't want to experience the above please avoid this place as much as you can.

I’m disappointed in the level of service my cat received during her check up. Within DAYS of the visit, a relative who works with animals noticed that my cat was scratching her ears and offered to take a look. She saw there were very evident ear mites. This being my first cat, I did not realize that the ear scratching was out of the ordinary, and I’m frustrated that the staff did not proactively look at her ears during the visit. I think this should be a routine part of the check up. I’m sure they would have seen if they had taken a peek, as my relative noticed right away. Instead her ears were not even checked while we were there, and we just got lucky that someone else with knowledge of pets was able to identify it. Otherwise my poor cat would have continued to not be treated. I paid a lot of money for this check up and I feel it was somewhat of a waste given that the one issue my cat has was overlooked by the center I paid to have check her. Now I am treating the issue myself with ear mite treatment I bought from a pet store. In addition, the assistant seemed to be afraid of my cat when she was a little hissy. I feel this is a normal cat behavior when they are stressed, and to be hesitant to handle the cat despite this behavior indicated an experienced staff. They were all very nice which I appreciated, but unfortunately I was left not feeling confident that I can trust this center to proactively catch issues, and I’d be concerned that something more serious would slip through the cracks if something like ear mites was overlooked— and not even checked!

We did a follow up visit which included a blood test and a nail clipping. One nail. The charge was 450.00. Gouging. It's because of people like this that the veterinarian industry needs to be regulated.

Read all the reviews before you take your Cat or Dog here. The prices are way out of line. They are out of control. Not the nicest receptionist either.

Friendly staffs, quite and clean

I’ve been going to Newport Vet for several years and they are the best in the area. I have an older cat who has severe anxiety which leads her to become aggressive. The doctors and staff have treated her with care and have been able to give her vaccines and cut her nails. They are very professional and take great care and caution with the pets!

We were in and out of there quickly and the staff was really nice.

I took my cat here and they told me he needed an X-ray but their machine was down. I waited a few days but they were unable to fix their machine and referred me to another location for x rays. The X-rays came back a day later but no doctor has been able to review the X-rays and tell me what the result of them is. It’s now been 8 days since the X-rays were taken. I’ve called Newport many times and get the same run around about waiting for a dr. to review them. I stopped by the office this morning and the front desk person assured me I’d hear from the dr today, but nothing. My poor cat has been struggling to breathe for over a week now, with no word from the vet on why. Would not recommend this vet given the low level of urgency and professionalism.

Can’t say enough good things about this place! They were very attentive and patient with my pup who is a difficult patient. So happy I found them!

Overcharging and super unprofessional!!! When I read the comments I thought it might be more expensive but only because the location is great, but now I doubt their professional ethics! My puppy did a stool test (cost over 90$) Giardia infection, They only prescribed 5-day's treatment ($70) and now the infection has come back! I did some research and it turns out the treatment would need at least be more than 7-days to be effective!!! They just want you to came back for more test and overcharging medicine! I bought the same treatment on Amazon and it only cost $16, my poor 3-month puppy will have to go through the terrible infection again, only because they want to make more money! THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!

The folk here are truly knowledgeable, and they ever so humbly answer any questions I may have, even when i confess a Google search is responsible for my concern! My dog goes bananas when he sees anyone from this practice; if dogs can sense goodness, every person here passes the vibe check a thousand fold.

Doctor was great! Amazing bedside manner

very unprofessional behavior. Canceled the confirmed appointment when I coudnt attend the call from the vet one hour before my appointment and gave it to someone else. A text would have been nice to ask me what time is a good time to call. You just can't call me anytime you want to confirm if I am coming or not and when I don't pick up the call which is in my ful rights to do so, you give it to someone else.

The team at Newport Vet went above and beyond during my recent appointment for my newly adopted dog. They are very thorough, and I even almost had my appointment cancelled because I didn't complete the new patient form with enough notice before my appointment. I didn't see it in my email and they called me that morning but I was stuck on calls for work so missed it. In any case, they were very understanding and allowed me to see the vet even though I turned in the paperwork a bit late. Dr. Doyle was really amazing with my dog. He gave us a ton of tips and learnings about her specific situation (came up from the south, adjusting after a hard transition/life, food issues, etc.). He really took the time to make sure he answered all of our questions and made us feel welcomed and supported. My dog needed a fecal test and it turned out that she had a parasite. Dr. Doyle called me the very next day himself to let me know about the test results, and made her medication available for us to pick up that same day. They were just so incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable and reassuring about our dog's specific needs. I hope to be able to come here for all of her appointments going forward, but she doesn't like the 8-minute car ride! Hoping she eases into car travel so that we can come back whenever she needs to be seen.

I bring my dog and cats here - What a great vet. Awesome doctors and great staff who are so sweet and understanding. You get what you pay for here!!

They are so warm and caring. The doctor took extra time to go over my puppy's needs. I have no complaints about Newport Vet. They validate parking which is a bonus.

Im a first time dog owner and they took great care of my doodle pup! Explained all the shots and things that they recommend for him ! Clean office and very professional! Lady at the front desk was very KIND!! They Veterinarian and assistant were kind and gentle with him! Affordable as well !!

I take my pup here all the time after a poor experience at downtown vet. They explain everything and answer all my questions (as a new dog mom I have a lot) and they force you to have services than your dog needs. They also give me all the paperwork and receipts for my insurance claims which the other vet didn’t do.

Such wonderful care and assistance from the Newport Veterinary Center! Since recently moving to Jersey City, I wasn't too sure where to go when my dog had an infected paw. Called Newport and they got us in same day!! Being a very concerned dog mom, they put my mind at ease upon entry. Highly recommend :)

They don’t care for your pet. It’s all about making money. Absolutely the worst veterinary clinic I have taken my pet to. Do your pocket and your pet a favor — never go here.

I am new to the area and have been looking for a great place for my Yorkshire terrier toy and after speaking to a few other veterinarians I spoke to the people at Newport veterinarian centre and from the very beginning they were helpful charismatic Knowledgeable And there overall demeanour was upbeat Wants I arrive there for my 1st appointment they were so welcoming as if they've known me for years I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone who has a pet because when they took my puppy to the back I wasn't Is apprehensive at all because they were so genuine in the fact that they were loving to my dog even though they didn't know Em thank you so much Newport.

I recently moved in the area and my dog has an infected paw. Reached out to Newport Vet center and they got my puppy in same day. They were super nice and professional. Highly recommended

My baby Mitch only had 1 visit. However, I thought everyone was kind and professional from the front desk to the doctor. The doctor answered all my questions and was very friendly. I really like this place.

I love the vets here, but they now use Instagram to inform you of their hours. Too cheap and lazy to keep regular hours or update their website, they expect you to sign up for Instagram to know when you can get your pet in to see them. Despite how cheap their online practices are, they still charge an arm and a leg for service.

So happy to have Newport Veterinary Center nearby and it was great experience with my puppy, so the people were very nice and responsible with my pet. Totally recommend!

I've been taking my dogs here for the past 2 years and they are always extremely courteous and gentle with my dogs. They always take the time to answer my questions and I never feel rushed.

Would give out zero star if I can, this place is strongly money driven, be careful when they tell you that ur pets needs whatever kind of vaccine or testing, some are not necessary even harmful without regarding the time (too frequently or pet is not in a good mod)

Great staff! Won't rush you and listens to your concerns. Also, more affordable than my other vet in Manhattan!
