After you get a big old dose of misogyny from Dr. Parker, you get a big old bill.....????

My Dog impaled himself on a stick. Called many places but Smith's took him right away and were comforting and kind. Gus is still wagging his tail. Thank you dr d and smiths!

Unable (thus, poor capacity/setup) and/or unwilling (thus, poor attitude and sense of responsibility to community) to take on new patients due to COVID. Few rabbit-savvy vet options in the area, was referred here, and although they do apparently have at least one rabbit-savvy vet, there was 0% accommodation with possible care for our buns (just moved to the area). No suggestion of alternatives, simply confronted with a “no”. Big red flag.

The staff here were great. Efficient and considerate. The Dr. was terrific. All kept us well informed on the care of our cat. They were very reasonable about the price of his care.

My pet guinea pig fell and hurt her foot a month ago. Dr. Kendrick has done a great job to make sure Brooklyn heals correctly. Thank you so much to you and your staff.

I have been going to Dr. Kendrick for 12 years or so, have paid her much money over that time, and always felt it was high but worth it for her superior knowledge. She can feel a bit preachy sometimes, and just the last few years unnecessarily expensive or even price-gouging for things that could be gotten over the counter for much less. She is obviously quite capable as a vet. That being said, I recently attempted to obtain an appointment for a stray whose owners cannot be located. I just want to get him vaccinated and remove his sutures, which had not yet been removed from a recent neutering. I feel completely blown off as I both left a message on voicemail and talked to the person at the front desk over the phone. It's been several days and no one has called me back at all. Even if the appointment wasn't possible, it is completely unprofessional to ignore people who have been loyal and recommended you to hundreds of folks in Santa Fe. If you have lots of money, they will see you. If not....well...Good Luck getting your animal cared for by this place.

Do not bring your rabbits here. My rabbit died under Dr. Kendrick’s care. I brought my 3YO rabbit in for a head tilt and possible GI Stasis and my problems went ignored. My rabbit was relatively healthy until this emergency and I entrusted Dr Kendrick with her care. The office acted like they were absolutely tied up that day because of ONE surgery! I tried to reason with them and agreed to bring my bunny girl in to be monitored in between patients, and she wrote my bunny girl off as second priority and did not get to the bottom of her issues. She sent me home with generic medication that did not work and did not offer to X-ray. This went on for two days and my rabbit subsequently died because of it. I tried everything to save my bun and she died in my arms. This has brought so much grief to me because they acted liked they cared. Even with my other bun, he had a chronic sinus infection and eye drip that would not let up. She prescribed eye drops that are ineffective in rabbits (confirmed by two other vets that have since seen the boy), and never got to the root of his issues. This was a persistent problem (we would visit more than 2x a month) and she would never recommend a more advanced practice for his needs. It was later confirmed (after driving 18 hours to a better vet) that my baby boy has advanced dental disease. Throwing your money at this vet is a total waste if you have rabbits. Goto Smith vet or ABQ if you’re in Santa Fe with a rabbit. I usually go with the vet’s recommendations and I am highly disappointed with the service I received.

I called this “hospital” after being recommended by several friends, with a major emergency. My dogs breathing was frantic The lady at the desk told me she couldn’t take my dog because I was not a current client. When I asked her if they were okay with dogs dying in an emergency, she her response was, it’s a weird time. You can drive to Albuquerque—- an HOUR away. 2 seconds after I hung up, my dog had a major 5 minute seizure. I thought she had died, she had never had one before. It was terrifying. Thankfully Smith took her in immediately and saved her life. If you can turn away a pet with a major emergency, you are terrible people. Covid or no Covid. Be warned.

I have been taking my two dogs there for the better part of 10 years and have always been so happy with their care. Dr.s Kendrick and Parker are really caring, knowledgeable, and trustworthy! It's a very clean space, too, and their COVID procedures are safe. I guess the name is a misnomer, though. Here is more of a vet, where you need an appointment.

I have taken my rabbits to Dr. Kendrick for the last six years and I am incredibly grateful for the care she had given us. Not only is she very knowledgeable and savvy about rabbits (most vets aren't), she is also genuinely kind and caring. The staff is also great and the pricing is always fair and reasonable. I highly and enthusiasticly recommend this practice!

This is supposed to be an animal hospital. People are supposed to care for animals but when I called to see if I can still bring in my little dog they said I would need an appointment and also had to have been there before no exceptions. I would never recommend this place. Also how could you call yourself an animal hospital. Heartless people.

I agree with the review that talked about front desk personnel. I’m sure they have great doctors but when I walked in today the two girls at the front desk were so rude! I had called days prior and asked if I could get my dog’s heart worm medication and they said yes that all they needed was a recent heart worm test. I’m new to the area and going on a trip soon so I needed to get her medication at that moment. This girl with an attitude tells me well I don’t know who you talked to on the phone but we can’t give you anything unless we see the dog first or your old vet sends a prescription. I was so annoyed by her attitude. I called the Smith Veterinary Hospital and they told me all they needed was a recent test (which was what Santa Fe had said on the phone). Anyway, I got the medication from Smith and thanks to this very rude girl at the front desk, they lost a customer. Don’t expect people to come back to your facility if you don’t do something about customer service. I miss my Houston vet! ;(

If I could give a lower rating I would. I'm new to Santa Fe and do not have a Vet. Based upon their high Yelp rating I picked this facility for an emergency. My dog had diarrhea all night and is bleeding. When I explained the situation they refused to see her and said she'd have to wait until late August! I said it's an emergency. The person who answered the phone didn't care. I will never use them in the future. All they would do is suggest I call another facility that accepts walk-ins. HORRIBLE. I wonder if the doctors actually know what the front desk is telling people.

We love Dr. Kendrick and the entire staff! Our pup had a digestive problem the weekend before 4th of July... I called them late Monday- they stayed late for me, and went beyond the call of duty to make sure we could get treatment started before the holiday! They really care!

Dr Jennifer Kendrick has worked carefully, thoroughly and compassionately to help my Airedale recover from the removal of a large cyst on his foreleg. Vet techs and front desk staff are all very friendly, professional and helpful. I strongly recommend this pet hospital. The other aspect I really like is we ALWAYS see Dr. Kendrick, not a merry go round of various docs. This alone makes a huge difference in the knowledge of my dog's health and treatment.

Dr. Kendrick is amazing. She has a great way of interacting with my little cocker spaniel, Cassie. Cassie has been through cancer treatment and high blood pressure in the last few years, as well as abuse before she was rescued at 8 weeks old. A lot for such a little girl to go through. Dr. Kendrick is extremely attentive and considerate of all that my girl has been through, and she is an excellent support system for me as well. :-)

Dr. Parker saw my macaw less than 10 minutes after we arrived and that is indicative of the level of care that was shown every step of the way. Can't say enough good things about everybody there at SFAH. And...he has macaws himself. Ourstanding care.
