We went into the clinic knowing that our beloved boxer was sick and needed help to reach the doggie rainbow….. the staff was so sweet and loving. They made a very hard decision Become a very intimate professional, and loving moment. I left there knowing we went to the right place

Yesterday I noticed a deep 6 inch gash on my 6 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback’s side. My vet was too busy to see her and subsequent phone calls revealed that all offices I called were in the same situation. Petroglyph had more than they could handle as well but they saw her anyway. They were running way behind schedule with more animals needing treatment than time and space could accommodate. Nonetheless they worked my precious girl onto their full schedule and took care of her. The entire staff was compassionate, understanding and professional. Dr. Espinosa did a remarkable job of mending Layla’s significant wound and they called the next morning to check on her. Words can’t express the gratitude I have for this amazing veterinary hospital! I don’t know what we’d have done without them. I can’t recommend them highly enough-I’m forever grateful

They were able to see us when nobody else was. The wait time was long, but that's to be expected when it's an emergency walk in. Plus they did warn us it would be. They are very kind and helpful. They even called to check up on her.

Our poor miniature dachshund, Sarge, had an allergic reaction to his rabies shot that he had received earlier that day. We thought his airways were closing up so we called Petroglyph Animal Hospital immediately. The receptionist told us to bring him in right away. As soon as we got in they took him into their care immediately. The staff was caring and responsive in what we thought was a medical emergency for our pup and they assured us that everything would be ok. Thank you Petroglyph Animal Hospital for taking care of Sarge when no one else was available!

(REPOSTED FROM YELP) All of my visits with Petroglyph Animal Hospital have continually frustrated and upset me, each time worse than the last. My dog unfortunately developed diabetes and after receiving initial treatment was required to come back weekly for blood glucose checks (costing $20 each time) in order to adjust her insulin dosage, something that did not bother me until they instead said I needed to drop her off to do a glucose curve in order to better see what she required. I was unhappy with this option as they are a very expensive vet and am confused as to why they wasted our time with the weekly checks instead of simply attempting this initially. I instead bought my own glucometer and did it myself, finally finding a suitable dosage for her and regulating her blood sugar levels properly after over a month of messing around and putting her health at risk. When I returned to get another vial of insulin they insisted upon another blood glucose check despite my offer to bring in her glucometer and either show them her history or test it for them, something I did not see necessary in the first place as her record shows she has diabetes and is going to require it for the rest of her life regardless as they should know. I am on a budget and cannot miss work to bring her in at the time she needs to come in to get an accurate blood glucose reading. After begging to get her prescription filled and promising to take her in for one for the following refill they finally filled it for me. The next appointment they did not get an accurate reading but charged me anyways and again said I needed to come in for another blood glucose check for the next vial after instructing me to HALVE her regular dosage despite not getting an accurate reading and not having seen her for the previous two months. I am tired of fighting them for my dog's medication and am extremely angry that it seems I must go through this every time I need another vial, so much so that I tried to transfer her to another vet after yet another vague promise to get me her insulin on time but they refused to pass on her files to the other vet and told them "they were filling it." I was planning on still using the other vet to refill her prescription but I dropped her vial this morning and had to get another immediately so I would have some for dinnertime. I called and told them the situation, to which they responded they would do it, but when I called after work the receptionist told me they would need at least 24 hours to fill it. I reminded them they said they would do it due to the circumstances and have now been sitting in the reception area for 30 minutes. They will never get my recommendation or patronage ever again and I strongly recommend you look elsewhere especially if you're planning on longterm care for your pet. On top of this, they are rude and unprofessional. Go somewhere else lest you waste your time and money. I regret every cent of the over $5000 I have spent here so far.

The staff and doctors are exceptional and compassionate. We brought our little dog in for an emergency evaluation, and unfortunately the diagnosis was terminal. The staff and doctors were exceptional and I would highly recommend this business.

My baby is really sick, so I thought I could take him to this Animal Hospital. I was so wrong. After trying to call promptly at 7:15 AM, I received a message that they were still closed. I attempted again at 7:20 AM and got the same 2 minute message about them being closed. So, I decided they must’ve not turned on their switchboard. I drove down, areived at 7:30 AM, and asked if we could be seen either as an emergency or as a walk in. The receptionist told me the walk ins aren’t open until 10 AM. When I asked if we needed to leave and come back, she said all their walk-ins were full. Their lobby was empty so apparently they booked up in 15 minutes, 15 minutes that I tried to call twice and couldn’t get a human. I call BS on their practice. I understand that it’s a busy time and there are vast employee shortages, but stop calling yourself an animal hospital if you’re a regular veterinarian. Also, stop labeling your appointments “walk ins” if you don’t actually allow walk ins. Glad I found a reasonable place with reasonable wait times to take my little man. By the way, this happened today, which was Monday, not Friday. Idk what the business owner is even taking about

Terrible experience! I called to my puppy in because he had gotten sick and wasn’t eating so I figured I could call a place that takes “emergencies” and the man on the phone was very rude and said they couldn’t get my dog in till next week or the week after. After being very frantic on the phone and expressing my feelings of how I felt my dog was dying. All the man could ask me is if my dog was fully vaccinated. Luckily I got my puppy in with someone who doesn’t even consider themselves an emergency vet. Just to find out my puppy has parvo and had I waited to get him in with these people he would’ve been dead already.

They were able to see us for an emergency situation when no one else was. They were kind, compassionate, and extremely helpful. They offered multiple options and supported our choices. Petroglyph helped us through a difficult time in saying goodbye to our furry family member. So grateful for them.

Always a bad experience from the care to the customer service. Always short staffed. Wait time ridiculous

My dog became extremely bloated out of nowhere. Out of panic I took him to Petroglyph animal hospital so that he could be taken care of. I called to let them know I was on my way and they denied us going there because they were closing in 5 minutes. They denied a dog who ended up having a flipped stomach. So thanks for nothing. If you’re not gonna act like an animal HOSPITAL then change the name of your clinic.

I'm a pet transporter. I picked up a puppy in OKC going to san Francisco who (unknowingly) has parvo. He's currently at the ER. They referred my to Petroglyph to get my personal dogs checked. They were unable to see all 3 of mine but did admit one for examination and testing. The prices were fair. Their concern and service was great. I would definitely recommend.

Had a good experience here with our cat Tiger and he is already doing much better. I am thankful for all the staff & doctors that were working on a Sunday. Thank you!

I’ve been taking my pets to this clinic since moving to NM in 2017. In the beginning, they were very reliable and handled everything great. During and after Covid-19 however, their quality has dropped exponentially. Trying to get anything done is a goat rope, they’re spotty with getting prescriptions ready for animals on time, they gave me half of them, then made me come back to pick up the other half of the prescription days later, because THEY DIDN’T CHECK THE BACK OF THE FRIDGE. That’s laughably irresponsible and unprofessional. The admin staff are short and snappy, schedule me for appointments then make me wait hours to get my animals in and when I go in to check on status they reply with, “I said I’d SQUEEZE you in at [time]”. The owner is great and so was Dr. Levin before she left the clinic. It’s just not worth the effort or time inconvenience to stick around for certain doctors.

It is extremely difficult to get ANYONE to answer the phone to make a simple appointment. Hold times are also ridiculous. I'm moving on to another vetrinarian.

My cat was misdiagnosed with a condition he did not have. A simple blood test they should have performed would have showed my cat is hyperthyroid before scheduling an ultrasound and misdiagnosing my cat with IBD. He was put on too high a dosage of steroids that he didn’t need as confirmed by an internal medicine specialist. On top of that Their commitment to communication and patient care standards is beyond disappointing.

Dr. Hudgell saw my little parrot (Black Capped conure) when she was presenting with what looked like respiratory issues. He really impressed me with his knowledge of avian anatomy and how gentle and loving he was with my bird. He gave her a thorough look over and explained everything to me. He took his time and really seemed to care. I had been looking all morning for a vet that would take us in for an emergency. We don't have enough exotics vets especially when it comes to avians. After calling in tears because I was really worried and was getting turned away by everyone, the receptionist spoke with the doctor and they decided to go ahead and squeeze us in. I've been to other vets that claimed to understand avian medicine but didn't even seem to know the basics and even have me incorrect information. Dr. Hudgell was truly a breath of fresh air. I'm very appreciative of the staff and the doctor for helping us. My little bird is doing great and I'm a less worried momma. I plan on going back if we ever need a doctor again.

Called with our emergency and they told us to come on over so the Vet could take a look. As it turned out we had a bigger emergency than we thought. The DVM, Raymond Hudgell, provided us with details of the potential problems and recommended treatment. After returning to our RV (visiting the ABQ area) the problem got worse (several hours later) and the dog was unable to keep the medication down. We called back, and were asked to return. He interrupted his surgery schedule to re-examine our dog. With the additional visit and information he was able to better diagnose the problem and gave additional meds and a shot. I am writing this on the following day. The dog is now stable and resting comfortably! Previous to this visit we had called 6 different Vets and none were at all helpful! Thank you Petroglyphs Animal Hospital for helping save our dog!!

Giving this place one star is honestly giving them grace. There is a laundry list of reasons why I wouldn't recommend anyone in Albuquerque wasting their time or money here.

Tried to get my dog in to be seen multiple days in a row. They said call in the morning because they are first come first serve. So I tried calling in the AM right when they opened multiple times and the phones said they were closed. Then I brought my pet in 20 minutes after they opened and said that they had already booked all the appointments for the day. I wouldn’t waste your time trying to get your get an appointment here. Poor client management and not very friendly. Better off trying another clinic that is more accommodating and welcoming.

I took my dog there. She was very sick and didn’t want to eat. I took her there wanting help. They sent me home with nothing but one small bottle of medicine. They said she will be okay in the next 3 days. They said she didn’t need to be kept in the vets office. She sadly passed away 4 days later. They did nothing to help.

I have been going to this clinic for awhile and most of the time had a decent experience. With the exception of when my dogs arm was broken and the vet told me that surgery may not work it was worth a try and so expensive. I asked for alternatives and he said why is money a issue? Well I’m not rich but also don’t want to pay an arm and leg for a slim chance that something could be fixed ( luckily the cast worked and my baby is fine) But The last straw came today when I was hung up on. I called several times to attempt to get an appointment for a cat I adopted in January. Each time I called they were completely booked and couldn’t give me a good time on when to call back when the next months schedule opened. I found out today that it was the 15th. Regardless I was trying to express my dissatisfaction with the inability for them to assist the past months I called to get an appointment. I told her I know you guys probably don’t care ( as in they must have so many clients that they probably don’t care about losing my 3 little guys) and she just hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak with a manager and she said ( of course) no one was available. I told her I wanted to speak to her manager about hanging up on me and she said if I was going to talk to her the way I did than she was not going to put up with it. I said I didn’t curse at you or yell at you and she said no but you said that we didn’t care and we take our job very seriously here. So I’m confused because If you did you might have better customer service to see that I was just upset about the lack of availability for several months and just needed someone to listen and help. I am not asking to jump the line of people. I just wanted to be heard that I was upset in still not being able to get an appointment for my cat and that all those times I called before, I could have been told about calling on the 15th. In all fairness I did have an appointment for my two dogs this year but couldn’t get them all seen at the same time due to cost of having to get them all getting charged with wellness visits and vaccinations. Needless to say I will update if I get a call from a manager.

Monday my cat Minx was failing from kidney failure and he was getting worse by the minute. It wasn’t fair to him for me to continue to let him suffer. I called Boofy’s Pet Store for a referral to help me ASAP. I was told to call Petroglyphs Animal Hospital and they immediately helped me. I arrived and two young ladies came out for my suffering cat and wrapped him and took him in. I parked the car and went into the clinic and they led me into a room where Minx was peaceful wrapped in a blanket with IV in and a beautiful mantle with candles flickering in front of him. Wonderful caring staff, thank you all!!!

Dr. Power was amazing with our dog. He was having stomach trouble and although it was a long wait they got him in and treated him. The power had gone out which was an unforeseeable delay but the staff was incredible at communicating what was going on and even took additional time from their day to finish assessing our pooch when the power returned. Great and friendly staff, would recommend

10/10 recommend this animal hospital. My 16 year old red nose pit-bull broke her front leg and no one would see her soon enough. I called petroglyph and was seen the same day. My pit ended up needing to be put to rest after very great in detail medical analysis, the entire staff was very compassionate and sympathetic. I understood the diagnosis 100% and it made the decision a little less hard knowing it was the best thing for her. They sent us home with our dog in a nice bag since we buried her in our backyard, a keepsake of her furr & a clay paw print. Thank you to all the staff for helping.

You made us sit in a backyard for over a hour to put our sick dog down. It was 82 degrees out and we had our other dog there also. Never offered water for the dogs or us. It was very sad. Cathy Sauter

They’re very knowledgeable and great doctors. They’re awful on reception times though. Sat in the parking lot for 45 mins to drop off and again almost an hour just to pick up my pet. When I called to let them know I was waiting after I had checked in, the guy even admitted they got busy and forgot I was out here. Still charged me full price too. They’re also one of the more expensive practices in the city but do get down to the problem. (@petroglyph We have to pay you for your time, are you going to pay us for our time that we lose while you make us wait??) They need to work on their office skills and scheduling, otherwise a great place.

They have you text that your there for your appointment. Then they never get back to you so you have to call front desk. Then they put you on hold. Because there busy. By this time you’ve waited an hour before they come for your pet. They need to have a better way of getting checked in. Why have an appointment if you have to wait so long!! Soon the heat will be here and waiting in the car is not good for you or your pet!! I hope the see these posts since you can’t post on there site. I like the vets but maybe if they hire more staff?

I wish I could give this place a better review, but as stated by another user, the wait times are HORRIBLE. The sad part is there are some really great folks working here but the service leaves a lot to be desired as far as efficiency goes. I would say step it up Petroglyph you need a little kick in the you-know-what. ????
