I have been taking my pets to Blue Cross for about two years. I've always had a little sticker shock when paying my bill, but it seems that now this clinic has gone the way of vets who inflate costs and recommend unnecessary treatments and products, in addition to using scare tactics. The doctor told me that my 2-year-old cat had a knee problem and needed joint supplements. He gladly sold me a bag for $24.00 and then I found them on Amazon for $17.00. Also, my cat won't eat them, so I just wasted $24.00. One of the doctors, I think Dr. Smith, also said my dog was overweight and had me feeding a lot less. Our new vet felt our dog was almost underweight and explained in detail why. I feel terrible that I had her on such strict diet. I am not at all impressed with their Office Manager, Liam, who has a pretty snippy tone and an arrogant attitude. When I asked him to explain why a dental cleaning for my two-year old cats would cost between $541-$709, each, he only partially explained the two least expensive elements of the estimate and ignored the more expensive elements which seemed arbitrarily priced to me. He also used scare tactics. I called him on that and asked for an explanation of the other items on the estimate and he just ignored my email. Ignoring a client's questions is unprofessional so, I cancelled all future appointments via email, which Liam also ignored. I found a new vet, Dr. Chrissie Cooper at her new clinic, Valle Verde. Her exam prices are $48 to Blue Cross' $58. I think that because so many vet offices closed down during the pandemic (something one of the doctors told me) that Blue Cross is not only making money hand over fist, but they got hip to the supply and demand concept and just over inflated their prices to fleece the people of Albuquerque.

Squeezed my pooch in, got him evaluated, prescribed some meds. He got better! Been associated with Blue Cross for many years and have never had a bad experience.

They have always taken very good care of all my dogs and a few cats over 30 years. All the Veterinarians there have always been exellent. I have a couple of my favorites. Great care while they are here and a great comfort when they have to go away. The rest of the staff personell are top notch also.

I've had a couple of vets in my past from having moved around and I have to say this is the best vet I have had. She seemed to care, was engaging and properly discussed any concerns I had. Recommended.

Dr. Philpott is by far one of the best veterinarians I've ever been to. She takes her time and talks with you about all the options and explains everything. She cares and shows it. Definitely a phenomenal animal clinic!

Prices have significantly increased in recent months. Be prepared to dig deep into your savings account, especially with all the upsell.

My partner and I were initially excited to find a vet clinic for our dog that is close to home and has great reviews. After two visits, we were left very angry, shaken, and disappointed with our experience here. During our dog’s first visit, I was told by Dr. Smith that our dog was getting close to obese and needed to go on a diet. I thought it was odd as his previous vet had made no mention of any issues with his weight, but I purchased a weight management food there so that we could follow the plan that Dr. Smith laid out. Later in the day I called to ask additional questions/confirm a couple of things I was told during the visit, to make sure we had the correct information. I spoke to the tech, Morgan, who had helped with the visit that morning, explaining that I was nervous during our visit (our dog was scared and panicking), and just wanted to clarify a few things. I was told by her during our calls that I had the amount of food our dog needed to eat each day incorrect, and it should be half of what I had mentioned (1.5c/day of the new food, instead of 1.5c, 2x/day). Note, we typically gave him 1c, 2x/day of his normal food. We gave that amount for three weeks until our next visit. At the second visit, I brought up his diet and asked if any adjustments needed to be made, as he seemed to have lost a lot of weight (there was about an 8lb. difference during his initial weigh in and the second visit weigh in). When Dr. Smith mentioned maybe bringing him up to 2c for one of his feedings, I told her that I had been told it was 1.5c/day, and that we had been following that by doing 3/4c in the morning and again at night. Dr. Smith checked the notes from the first visit and just said that the amount I was told when I called was incorrect, and that his food could be increased. Needless to say, I was horrified at the fact that we had been very much underfeeding our dog for almost a month. There was no apology at all from Morgan, who was our tech again that morning, was there when the correction was made, and had plenty of opportunity to say something, and Dr. Smith did not say anything else about it for the rest of the visit. There was no apology or acknowledgement from her for the situation until I brought up as I was leaving that I was very upset at being told the incorrect amount when I had called back specifically to make sure that we were doing the right things for our dog. Looking back at the time between visits, my partner and I realized that some of the small changes we had noticed in our dog during those three weeks (sleepier than usual, lower energy during his walks-which we had kept at his usual amount) were maybe not the result of the heat, as we thought, but of him not being fed properly. This was confirmed after a few days of feeding him a correct amount, after which he was back to his normal happy self. Furthermore, after taking him to a different vet, we were told that even at the weight he was at during his first Blue Cross visit, given his size, he still would not have been close to obese. So, we made our poor dog miserable for nothing. While we understand that mistakes happen, this is not something that we take lightly when it comes to the health of our dog, and trying to gloss over the situation was unacceptable and unprofessional. We are thankful that this mistake did not happen with medication, or with something else that would have caused more issues for our boy. We will obviously not be returning.

Though it's drive up, they are very efficient and kind. They did allow us to come in when we had to put our old cat to sleep. Everyone was super-respectful and kind.

The vets and techs here are amazing. They make me feel like my dogs are family to them. They saved my little man this week when I really thought I was going to lose him. Tiny Tim is already playing and jumping and being the little brat he is. Just super grateful to this team of amazing people.

My dog was in horrible pain all night long. I called their office at 5:02, when I realized no medicine 5:00.was given. Their phone lines shut off automaticly at

Blue Cross has been great to my dog. Very friendly people working there. They were so awesome that my wife decided to start taking our other dog to them instead of her original vet across town.

My family has been taking our fur family here for 35 years. We usually see the incredible Dr. Wheeler, who treats my aging labradors like family and has helped us keep them happy and comfortable, but any time we've seen one of the other vets they have also been excellent. The staff cares so much. Thank you Blue Cross!

Been here a few times and my experience was less than good. One vet refused to see my kitty due to her nervousness. Another time lack of follow up from Dr Andrews made for an unpleasant situation.

They are awesome with our puppy and have really helped inform us about all her problems. Blue Cross Animal Clinic has been the only place she feels comfortable at and doesn't freak her out.
