Do not go !!! Worst place for my pet

I have been a client for years. Yesterday I called for an appointment for our dog who was not looking/feeling good. I was asked to contact two other hospitals since they were overbooked. Based on the love that we have for our furry kids and the service level expectation, I found the professional behavior puzzling; unacceptable adding on top when the attitude of the receptionist. It won’t happen again

This is my experience and I hope it helps others. I recently visited this Old Tappan Vet. for the first time; being the case I made sure all records were sent over. Referred by a friend with glowing reviews. I was looking forward to falling in love with a good Vet; seeing as we have 3 dogs.....potentially a great client. I walked in and loveliness. I felt good and had high hopes!! And this is where the hope was left.....in the waiting room. I am sure the body of staff does not reflect my experience with Dr. Kenny but she was one of the biggest disappointments in all my years of owning dogs. She simply can not think outside of the box. She has her standard script and does not listen to the patient....ie. I took two of our babies--a 17 year( just to get his nails trimmed) and 15 year (exam) old pugs. Both in excellent condition given there age. Current medication rimadyl. I had scheduled the appointment to renew my script. My female pug is blind, has difficult with her back legs (thus the rimadyl) but overall VERY LOVED and a thriving old lady. Even though I made if very clear I looking to keep my babies comfortable and happy since they are in the golden years but I am not looking to spend a fortune to keep them alive.....so just the prescription please, and when I start to see signs of there time I will come back. Dr. Kenny's very nice response well lets take a look. Now please hear me. Both our old dogs are on rimadyl for the rest of there lives. Without this anti-inflammatory she has a hard time walking and the male has a hard time with his neck. Simple deduction they have to stay on it. Dr. Kenny just would not give up her sales pitches. You need to have blood drawn to determine her liver levels. I said I understand but why would I have blood drawn to check something I can not change. That conversation took 10 min. After that it was please know I can only give you enough rimadyl for your female since she had the appointment. And I will only give you enough for 30 days because we need you to come back to see us so we can examine her to give you another script. Why wouldn't she just be a GREAT vet and say..... "man its so hard watching your dear loved one get older suffer and be close to hitting there time. We are happy to support you during this phase. I will give you 3 months and then check in with me." Side note: I am so tired of people being less than for the dollar!!!!! Her next pitch....fixing her eyes and that I should come back to see one of the specialist and we could work to help her. I than said ok......"can you improve her eye sight? " The answer NO!!! but she may make her more comfortable. This was another 10 min. Her next pitch.......with being on heart guard....yada yada yada. At the beginning of this appointment I felt so good. Felt good I was getting the babies nails done, meds, etc. After all her constant sales pitches making me feel like a bad mom....that I dont want to invest thousands of dollars that really does nothing to help my dog. She is very old sleeps all the time and just gets loved. At this point I told her "You are not listening to me" Next time I want a money maker vet that can't tap into her patients, I would go to oradell. But to add Dr. Kenny's lack of ability to think for herself. Waste of time and money. I really didn't know if she was in the business of vet care or marketing for the practice. I wont be returning. To all others.......DO NOT SCHEDULE WITH DR. KENNY!!!! Below par care!!

The docs are very thorough and kind and they welcome your questions. The office staff are efficient, helpful and personable. And last but not least, the vet techs rock! I highly recommend them. Usually less than 5-10 min. wait time.

Dr Asgar is the best! I've been coming here for years - first with my mothers dog then with my own babies. I would be willing to travel to see Dr Asgar. Compassionate- knowledgeable - understanding. Nothing extra to bring cost up. I literally cannot say enough good things about her. Mind you my own daughters a Vet in NC and not once has she disagreed or said "Thats out if line" to anything Dr Asgar has said or test ordered. You can't go wrong asking for Dr. Asgar.

This is the best practice I have ever used. I often say, " I wish I had a doctor for myself like Dr. Hess". Dr. Hess is intelligent, compassionate and patient. His office staff are very helpful; the office is clean and very accommodating.. I always feel reassured that my babies are in the best hands when going there!

My mother has been using them since adopting a new dog. I've had to attend many of the visits as well. most recently due to his inability to walk on his broken leg and her needing me to carry him. The staff here has been nothing short of fantastic. They give her early appointments so he is agitated by other animals potentially straining his leg injury. they answer every question, are super sweet to her and her dog and go above and beyond in helping her make sure she feels confident in how to help him best recover. To top it off they are not cutthroat about gouging you for money and their pricing. Everything about the experience feels relaxing and like you got lovely and knowledgable treatment. Unfortunately right. now I only have a snake, but hope to have a dog soon and will definitely consider making them our vet despite the distance to travel.

Had a horrible experience, spent $170 for a visit for itchy skin dog and no results and rude front desk staff too. Doctor Hess was to busy to see my dog while I had an apt. I Took time off from Work. I was running late due to holiday season. I Had 940am apt I called and said I will be there 955 , front desk said ok. I came to Hess office they took me in to waiting room to see dr and 5 min later they said sorry doctor is to busy come , back another day or see some other person like young new dr. Wow horrible service. My last visit $170 waited 40 min in to be seen. No compassion going somewhere else !!! I want my money back. !!! Calling better business burea not how u treat people. !!!
