For 35 years my wife and I have entrusted our pets to the expert and compassionate care of the folks at DFAH - first Dr. Ringler, then the Drs. Mendelssohn, with the superb assistance of Sue (Mrs. Ringler), Jose, Paul and others. Through good times and sad ones, our animals - in all, 5 dogs and 6 cats - have received the kind of personalized, professional care every pet owner should seek.

Great staff they were very thorough in regards to my wonderful dog!! Highly recommend!!

My prior honest, negative review about this business was removed. Apparently, businesses can remove reviews they don’t like from Google. I’m sure this one will be removed soon too! Bottom line: This vet is not honest with his pricing. It is grossly overinflated, often by 300%. I did my research and even verified this with one of his vendors. Stay away from this business unless money does not matter to you. I had to bring my cat to another vet to continue her care because I just couldn’t afford it here. Unfortunately, those who may not know his prices for procedures/labwork/medications are triple the actual cost may give up on their pets due to the expense. This does not help animals. If I can help one person or pet with this review, it will be worth it!

Our Westie began trembling and walking with trepidation yesterday. We called for a last minute appointment and they were booked. Not long after, the office called us back with a cancellation for today and we were so grateful! The Doctor was great- gave him a thorough exam, identified the probable issue and put us at ease that he should be better soon. Lovely office, super nice staff. Highly recommend.

I have great confidence in Dr. Christina Mendelsohn's diagnostic ability to entrust my 18 yr old cat Paris in her loving care. Dr. Mendelsohn goes the extra mile in caring for my "loved ones", and in lending her support to me when I lost my cat Smudgie to cancer. If you are looking for a Doctor's office that greets you with compassionate care rather than an "estimated bill", Dobbs Ferry Animal Hospital is the place!????

The vet is kind & skillful. The staff is amazing. They are so good that I drive 20 miles to get here. I gave this rating a few years ago, and I still drive 20 miles to get there! Dr. Mendelsohn and his staff are wonderful! It's now 2021 & I'm still driving my two dogs to see Dr. Mendelsohn. Last summer in the midst of the pandemic my 9 year old dog needed dental surgery and I was scared that she wouldn't come out of the anesthesia. The doctor and his assistant were kind and patient with me and my dog (who was fine). If you can get to Dobbs Ferry then you should take your pets to him.

I have been going to Dr. Gary Mendelsohn for about 25 years. And now his lovely wife has joined him. She’s also wonderful.

Dobbs Ferry Animal Hospital is a professional and expert practice with a pleasant, neighborly approach to customer service. Dr Mendelsohn is an excellent veterinarian. It's obvious he knows his stuff and you always feel like you're getting a considered opinion backed by years of experience. If it happens he comes across a case he's not familiar with, he won't try to fake it. He'll tell you outright and commit to finding a solution for you. He has a congenial manner and there's no doubt he cares about his patients. And for the fees he charges you're getting high quality care at an incredibly reasonable price (especially if you've ever had to deal with vets in Manhattan). Would thoroughly recommend this practice to all pet owners.

Our first time there and very impressed. Our pet got a thorough exam and the doctor reviewed all the info with us via phone due to covid...we were in the car outside. Her advice seems to have addressed our issue even though its only been a few hours! She gave us personal time and attention despite having a parking lot full of other patients. Highly recommend.

The doctor is knowledgeable and skillful.You can be sure that all services that you are charged for are necessary, and the charges are reasonable. The staff is invariably courteous and helpful. I know that my cat is in good hands at Dobbs Ferry Animal Hospital. UPDATE: MAY 6, 2020: My cat just had dental work. The work of Dr. Mendelsohn and staff continues to be excellent, as it has always been.

Our Buddy was very sick. Needed to be on IV and spend the night. Dr. Let us know that they did not have night staff. But told us he would take our Buddy home with him to take care of him.

They take good care of your pet medically-speaking, but as a heads up, they will not approve online orders of "prescription" food over the phone (not even during a pandemic). You will need a physical prescription. They do not send you home with it at the actual appointment it unless you know to ask for it. They didn't let us know this, so I thought it was important to get the word out during this pandemic when a lot of us are avoiding physical stores for medical reasons. I am deciding between going to a pet store while pregnant or putting my cat back on regular food for the next week or so. Oh and they will also charge you $5, but chewy.com will reimburse you.

Dr. Mendelsohn and his staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They take exceptional care of my pet without leaving a hole in my pocket. A hidden gem.

Very very disgusting unprofessional place! Susan is the manager. She hung the phone on me after I asked for the disgusting operator who was a woman’s name for HAVING A DISGUSTING ATTITUDE and tone. Susan needs to be FIRED. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF REPORTING THE BOTH OF THEM!

Dobbs Ferry Animal Hospital is a classic vet practice, run by people who love their own pets and are devoted to animal care. I find their advice always practical, commonsensical, and grounded in the choices families face when taking care of their pets. Their prices are reasonable and they don't up-sell.

The vets at dfah are the best. They have been taking care of my 2 dogs and 2 cats and bunny for years. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

I don’t have the words to fully acknowledge how much we love EVERYONE at Dobbs Ferry Animal Hospital. Our dog Bruno has been saved and taken care of so many times over the last 13 years. He is so loved and we are treated so well. Dr. Mendelsohn is a knowledgeable vet, amazing surgeon and has always managed to calm me down during each and every step of having our dog. I moved to northern Westchester over 11 years ago from down county and we still (and always will) make the trip to come here. You guys are a part of our family and we thank you each and every day for all the love, amazing vet medicine and compassion you have given us for over a decade.
