I was recommended by my daughter in law to send my bulldog to this company We met the trainer in a park and we weren’t sure where our puppy was staying , we didn’t have an address . The trainer was Un responsive after a few attempts to reach out to her when our dog was having resentment towards the collar after being home for a week or so We tried reaching out to the company for help and they did not respond to us until the charge was disputed . We were responded to by the manager only after we disputed the charge All we wanted was responses which we were unable to get .

Don’t take your babies here! They’ll have them train in 100+ degree weather and let them DIE!!!!!

If I could give this company and the trainer they assigned to us a negative rating I would. Not only does this company lack professionalism they are horrible with communicating too. We set up our Frenchie for a board and train from Aug 6th - Aug 20th and on Aug 12th we received a call that our fur angel was dead. Yes, the trainer is responsible for our angels tragic death. The company reached out the night of his death to say “I’m sorry” & that the “trainer followed all protocols” but if he truly did follow “all protocols” our fur baby would still be alive. He had a clean bill of health and only 2 yrs old, why would the trainer take our dog out in over 95°+ weather or any dog for that matter. Like if it’s too hot for us to be outside why would you even think it’s remotely safe for dogs to be outside in the midst of a heatwave?! WHY?! We were given many reassurances not only by the company but by the trainer they assigned us that our dog would be in great hands… the trainer they assigned us did not even know about the French Bulldog breed & has never trained one a day in his life. I specifically told him too over the phone before meeting & the day of to stir clear of scorching heat with frenchies especially ours because they cannot handle it & again he reassured us not to worry, I even told him the night before our sweet angel passed to be careful in the heat. The next day our baby boy died due to heat stroke & his trainer ignored all of his distress signals all while training another dog which because of this he wasn’t able to check on our boy because he was occupied with another dog. Due to this trainers negligence our French Bulldog died in the trainers car. We have to suffer a lifetime because Off Leash K9 & the trainer they paired us with KILLED OUR FUR BABY! My fur angel is literally my dream dog, I have been wanting a Frenchie for over 7+ years and did many years of researching to ensure I got my perfect little guy. THEY JUST RIPPED HIM FROM US AND BRUSHED IT OFF LIKE NOTHING. They did not have the decency to do background checks on trainers to ensure they are well versed in all dogs and what distress signals to look out for to prevent deaths. Off leash K9 and the trainer must be held responsible! PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR FUR BABIES HERE IF YOU WANT TO ENSURE THEIR SAFETY AND LIVELY HOOD. WE WANT JUSTICE!

Such a scam! I paid 50% down, didn't get a training date confirmed until a week before the training. I was scheduled to drop off my puppy with at a park, they refused to tell me where my dog would be housed for the next 2 week, they also had no clue about the dog breed they would be working with. They are very unresponsive. I am in the process of filing a BBB complaint (which won't help), also AG paperwork is on its way. Look at their website, no address, vague contact info, many LLCs, one way agreement. I have reached out to some of the customers already and I believe we have enough info to start a class action. You can only imagine how they are handling your precious dogs! THIS IS A SCAM! Run people run!

I had an amazing experience working with Mike! He was very professional, organized and kept me in the loop throughout the entire two week board and train! He took care of my 7 month-old mini pony (Great Dane), named Judge, and I couldn’t have been more comfortable with it. He was very thorough throughout the entire process; before the training began, during, and after, teaching me with great patience everything that I needed to understand Judge’s training. My dogs behavior has improved exponentially and I am the happiest of clients! I highly, highly recommend him to anyone who wants their dog to truly be transformed in 2 weeks! Thank you so much Mike!!!

Maui our pup had no manners. He wouldn't sit and stay when told, he was terrible walking on the leash. He would jump on new people. He would take the kids toys and things that were not his. If we told him no he would lunge at us. After the 2 week training with Mike Maui now waits at doors, walks so nicely on the leash, stays when told. He is over all like a new dog! Another plus, he gets in and out of the car himself, no more picking up his over 50 lb tush up. Cannot thank Mike enough!

I was very impressed with the change in my Siberian husky, Augustus, after only two weeks. My dog no longer pulls me down the street or leads with his mouth. Mike was great with sending us videos of Auggie's progress every other day, wowing my family with his new manners and skills. Mike spent four hours with us on Auggie's transition day to teach us all of the commands and walk each of us (five family members) through them. He is obviously very passionate about his craft and the dogs, and we are very happy with our newly trained pup!

Amazing experience. Sure, I missed my dog every day he was away but once I saw everything he had learned with Mike it was so worth it. Going from not being able to walk off or on leash at all, to being so focused on “heel”, walking right next to me that he doesn’t even see other dogs walking by. This is incredible, seeing as he would normally go crazy when seeing another dog. I loved my dog before, but now I love walking him too : )

Money well spent! I recently sent my 5 month old English Mastiff to the board and train with Mike Byrnes. She isnt a complete behaviorial issue but since she will be huge I figured it would be best to have her professional trained. Im so happy with the results. She now listens to call commands and is overall a much calmer puppy. She does have some anxiety when out in public but with this her training we are now socializing her more and its getting better. If you are thinking about getting your dog professional trained ask for MIke. he explained everything clearly and made me feel like I could continue Mamba's (my dog) training with ease. And if you ever need help with anything Mike is only just a call or text away.

Mike trained our dog Penny and we couldn't be happier with his professionalism and dedication. It has been over a month and Penny is receptive to the training, easy to manage, and over all a happy and healthier dog. The training has helped her in ways we didn't even expect. She eats consistently (very picky eater before), is less anxious, and does well alone even over extended periods of time. Mike is equally as good when teaching pet owners all the new things their dog has learned. Mike practiced commands and taught my girlfriend and I for 3 hours even in the rain. We would recommend to anyone !

My husband and I sent our one year old Goldendoodle to Mike to be trained. I was so nervous going into it because it was a hard decision to make leaving him for 2 weeks. When we dropped off Ollie two weeks ago, I immediately felt relief because of how welcoming Mike was and how much he explained everything Ollie would learn to us at drop off. He even let us feel the e collar to show us that it does not hurt and is just a stimulation. Although the two hardest weeks without our Ollie, Mike sent updates every 48 hours as he promised. Amazing photos & videos that really made us feel comfortable and happy with Ollie’s progress. When picking Ollie up, Mike did not miss a beat. We were with him from 10am-3pm. He walked us through every little detail and command that he trained Ollie on. He took us into the town and had us each practice with Ollie so we felt comfortable. He was wonderful at explaining when we may have messed up & also extremely patient. Although now that Ollie is home and it is up to me and my husband to continue this training process, we both feel confident we will be able to do so because of the time Mike took out to work with us. Mike also said that if we had any questions he is always there to help answer. We would recommend Mike to anyone who needs help training their dog!!! So well worth it!

My husband and I sent our year-old Frenchton, Norma, to train with Mike after hearing rave reviews about him from our neighbor, whose dog is one of Norma's best pup pals. We live in Manhattan and, even though we'd done some obedience training when we first got Norma, we found it incredibly difficult to carry the training through to get consistent responses. She is a lvable, friendly dog, but could also be INCREDIBLY stubborn, both in the apartment (even though she loves walks, it felt like each time we tried to get her ready to go out we had to engage in a fast and furious game of chase until we could corner her) and out on walks. She pulled, lunged, and would basically try to run the show every time. We were a little heartsick at the idea of sending her off to training camp for two weeks, but Mike made the transition incredibly smooth. He spent a long time at her intake explaining what she'd be doing day to day and showing us the areas he'd be practicing with her. He offered to let us feel for ourselves what the e-collar stimulus feels like so we wouldn't be concerned about hurting her. He promised pics and videos every 48 hours, and he never forgot. We were able to see the sessions in progress, and he explained what they were working on that day as well as displaying the commands and her desired response in action. As Norma progressed in her training, he even sent a time lapse video of a much longer walk so we could see how she engaged with the world around her. I have to take a moment to add that Norma requires a lot of extra care because of a heart condition and skin allergies, and Mike didn't even blink at taking on this extra responsibility. We felt absolutely confident that he'd give her all her meds, and he even washed her with her medicated shampoo while she was there AND fixed her cherry eye when it popped out! He commands absolute authority but we had no doubt that he acts with love for all the animals he trains. When it came time to pick Norma up, I had to be across the country for work, so my husband went solo. He texted me with excitement afterwards, saying that Norma's behavior was like night and day, and that the system was incredibly easy to take on; it requires repetition and focused specificity, but it's not confusing at all. Mike emailed us extensive turnover notes to make sure we remembered the intricacies of the commands, and he let my husband take videos during the turnover session so I could watch. Norma has been home for almost two weeks now, and the change really is incredible! Her playful, clownish, loveable personality has not faded at all, but she actually enjoys this new way of responding to our commends THE FIRST TIME because she sees that it pleases us! We worry much less about her lunging into traffic and we enjoy walking her a lot more because it's not a constant battle of wills. She is still quite the thief and, if given the chance, will steal your shoes, glasses, hats, or anything else you leave at her level, but even that is fading; she drops the items immediately upon command, often without even needing the stimulus from the collar. Mike has continued to check on Norma and has been prompt to answer questions when we've texted him. I recommend his services without hesitation. I admit that we were skeptical about investing so much into this, but it was well worth it. Norma is getting more and more used to the commands and we don't need to use the stimulus as much, but we're glad to have it when she's excited by what's happening around her and loses focus. Mike is one of those special people who is both skilled at a technical craft and also beautifully compassionate, which is a great combo for working with animals and improving the way humans and animals cohabitate!

Our trainer Mike was top notch!! Took his time to train us which probably was harder than Safira our Cane Corso. We took the 4 week course which was fantastic and will take the advanced course once the summer is over. Safira now responds great to commands and we are looking forward to continuing our training with her. Thank you Mike & NY Metro Off Leash Training!!!

Had a great experience working with Mike! Very responsive to questions and very knowledgeable about dog training. I did the 2-week board and train and my Labrador Rose came back a whole new dog. Would highly recommend this service if you're ok with e-collar training!

So disappointed with this company as a whole. I’ve trained my dog in the past with one of the trainers named mike out in Long Island, who did a phenomenal job working with my dog, training him and also working with me during the whole process. The board and train option was the beat option and it was money well spent. When I adopted another dog into my family, which then decided to use this same company to train her, they refused to schedule me with the trainer, mike who trained my other pup. After being set up with a trainer name Alex( not the owner) there was no turning back. My dog was clearly not trained properly and I was able to see this right after picking my dog up from the board and train. The trainer Alex assured me saying that my puppy is excited to see me and has a lot of energy and that I would need to give it time for her to get out of the puppy stage... like what? That makes no sense. After reaching out to Alex(the owner) I was set up what they call a “refresher” to help with the current issues. I brought my other dog to this refresher who has been trained by the same company so they can see that it is not the dog nor me not keeping up with training but simply that my dog was never trained properly to begin with. Alex (the owner) offered to re train my dog at no extra cost by her herself because of this extreme inconvenience to me. We tried to set up a day for me to drop my dog off... for the second time but Alex never got back to me on scheduling. Honestly ? How unprofessional not to even follow up.. especially when a customer paid for something they did NOT receive. Waste of money!

I had such high Hope's with offleashk9, unfortunately after paying in full up front I never heard back from anyone regarding a training schedule. After numerous attempts at contacting Alex, the owner with no response I was forced to ask for a refund. I can only imagine that had I been a celebrity such as those mentioned in their advertising then I would have been taken care of in a better manner. THIS IS NO WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS!!

Mike was amazing. I did the basic training and it was worth every penny. He answered all of my questions and concerns and really cares about what he is doing. If you are on the fence about doing the training definitely do it, you will not regret it and your dog will be the absolute best that they can be.

“Off leash” in the sense of the title - worth every penny. I have a hard time trusting someone with my dog, & putting faith in the training process after some failures, but after meeting Mike - all my worries were put to rest. Mike is not only very knowledgeable and honest, but puts all his time and dedication into training and loving all these dogs. He is calm and allows the dog to be themselves without forcing commands. He understands training is a life long process - as the owner must realize and continue throughout the dogs life. I knew my dog was trained well when my father, who did not believe in the training process, said one day - wow! This was worth all the money - he heels perfectly on walks (& this was without his remote). I am beyond satisfied with my training experience with Mike Byrnes and would highly recommend him for the 2-Week board and train. He was always able to answer my questions and still does. Bentley is his forever student now and we will continue to make him proud. Thank you so much - we will see you again!

We were thrilled with our trainer Marlon from Off Leash K9 training. Our 4-year-old dog Kemba is an active and friendly Duck Tolling Retriever, but he had jumping issues, plus pulling on the leash and counter-surfing. We've only had him back home for 4 days, but all of those behaviors are almost non-existent now. We barely have had to correct Kemba, and when we do, he immediately gets back to good behaviors. We have used other trainers before with our first dog, and have never had a good long-lasting experience. Marlon is the first trainer we would ever strongly recommend. He is calm, patient, clear, and most importantly, loves dogs. We highly recommend Marlon and this program!

My daughter and I just finished an 8 week training period with Mike for our 9 month old puppy. Mike is the best trainer I've ever seen. He was patient with my 13 year old daughter making sure she understood all the commands and techniques. Our puppy started as an unruly rambunctious pup and ended up a well mannered, highly trained, and happy dog. I give Mike my highest recommendation for anyone who needs excellent dog training.

Mike Byrnes was amazing! As a lifelong dog owner I have only once before sought professional training to resolve a behavior problem. I can’t say enough how happy I am that we made the investment to train from the start with our new rescue pup. I never knew what I was missing ! Now with Mike’s help we a dog that follows commands reliably on and off leash. If you are on the fence, I highly recommend you sign up with Mike you will be happy you did.

Marlon did the 2-week board and train program for my 6-month-old female golden retriever. Let me start off by saying this is not a 2-week relationship and you're done, this is a relationship for life. Marlon has kept in touch and has been very helpful with any questions or advice I may need. It is really comforting to know I have this resource going forward. In regards to the training, Marlon did a phenomenal job. I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life and I’ve use various trainers, but I was blown away by Marlon. Before the program I will admit I was a little nervous because my dog is young and has a very sensitive and sometimes nervous personality as she is still gaining confidence in the world. I was scared how she would handle the e-collar and strict training program. I was also afraid she would lose her spunk and wonderful, excited, goofy personality and come back like a robot. I am so happy to say none of my fears came true and instead I got back my amazing dog who now listens off leash and knows how to heel at my side as well as other commands. Marlon really knew how to cater to her personality and really cares to make sure the program is catered towards your dog’s specific needs. It is not a one size fits all with this training and I was blown away by Marlon's knowledge and awareness of how my dog would succeed best. During the two weeks Marlon was very communicative with how things were going and would text me picture and video updates which I loved! When it comes time to pick up your dog Marlon does a great job of walking you through everything he/she has learned and really takes the time to make sure you understand how to succeed transitioning back to home. I can't say enough about how great Marlon is and how much he knows and cares about dogs. Overall the 2-week board and train program with Off-leash K9 Training was amazing, and I would strongly recommend Marlon to anyone!!

We sent our 10 month old German Short Haired Pointer Henrik (Hank) to Mike. The experience was great. As promised we got pictures, videos, and explanations of Hank’s progress every other day. Mike is very responsive and I was exceptional at keeping this very anxious dog mom, not anxious. When we picked up Hank, Mike spent an enormous amount of time with us explaining and teaching us how to implement what Hank learned with him. I am very happy with the results so far and highly recommend Mike.

We did not have a good experience and we are very disappointed. Our dog only listen to commands when we zap him at a high level with off-leash E-collar remote. He is still pulls his leash, and doesn't stay when we command him "Place". I communicated this issues and our dissatisfaction with this training to Alex the owner /trainer and we are still not offered any remediation plan. Their website advertises: Two-Week Board and Train Program: The program offers not only outstanding results in off-leash obedience in high distraction areas, but also comes FULLY GUARANTEED. In this programs, you drop off your dog, and two weeks later you pick up a dog that is flawless outside, off-leash, with distractions. Our dog is definitely not well trained. He is easily distracted when we open a door or someone walks in. We are not offered any remediation. The short video clips of my dog performing well while he was at training is completely due to the usage of E-Collar zapping at high levels and does not reflect reality. They only filmed him during the times when he was performing. We were promised a well trained dog in the end of two weeks program, and we certainly did not get these promised results. I do not recommend this place. Please save yourselves a disappointment, money and time and seek training help for your dog someplace else.

It was amazing working with Michael Byrnes of NY Metro Dog Trainers! My dog had a great time learning impulse control during the two week board and train program; he returned to me obedient yet happy and playful as ever. Mike sent me regular updates demonstrating the positive, relaxed learning environment he creates for his dogs. I always felt secure that my little guy was safe and cared for. After the two weeks were over, Mike made sure that I left equipped with the knowledge of how to reinforce my dog's training at home. It's been about a month now and everything is going perfectly; I can't recommend these guys enough!
