There a lot of good things about this vet office and a lot of super nice people that work there. I’m specifically leaving only because their receptionist, Molly, who is rude and abrasive to me anytime I speak with her. It’s honestly baffling how rude she is compared to how lovely everyone else is. It’s a shame.

This is challenging and painful for me to write. I had been going to Dr. Cameron for 37 years. He was a brilliant doctor; kind and compassionate. When I had financial challenges, he was always able to make his visits affordable. When I first got my kittens, he gave me his cell phone number in case I needed anything! His love and passion were infectious. What a beautiful man. However, a few years ago Cameron retired and sold his practice to Dr. Houston. Since that time, there have been nothing but problems. An utter lack of compassion and compassion. Last year, our dog developed a very fast growing tumor on the top of her paw. Since it was Covid, we could not go inside during her visit. This was absolutely understandable. Safety is paramount. But we struggled to have communication with the doctor. We struggled to even get more than a tech to look at her! When cancer is on the table, I need a vet. And I need to be told if my appointment is being handed off to a tech. After our visit, we received brief information from the tech but nothing from Dr Houston. We had so many questions! It turned out the tumor was cancerous and we were referred to oncology. It took nearly a month to get oncology results and we’re furious! We kept calling to figure out what was going on but it was impossible to get anyone on the phone. Turns out, Dr. Houston never sent the chart to the oncologist! When our dog finally had surgery to remove the tumor, we received very little post op communication - again. Dr. Houston never even called us! And due to the location of the surgery, follow ups were required to ensure it was healing. The law has limited skin so there was a chance it wouldn’t heal. They had us come in every few days for about a month to look at the wound and BILLED us a full office visit every time! Didn’t we just pay enough for the surgery?! Dr. Cameron would never have nickel and dimed us like that. And still, no communication with Dr Houston. You’d think cancer was a priority. But no. We had one phone conversation during this entire ordeal to discuss the cancer and treatment options. Everything else was handed off to techs. Since that time, we’ve found it impossible to communicate with the office. We’ve tried to call with questions, appointment requests and no one ever calls back. Last month we expressed our dissatisfaction and that we were considering changing vets. They never made any effort to reach out and talk to us about our very valid concerns. Instead, they emailed and asked where to send her chart. Nothing else. About 40 years of patronage and this is what we get?? It made us sick to our stomachs. They simply don’t care. Our girl has her first appointment with practice in cedar grove this coming week. We called and asked for our dog’s records be sent over. Our final communication with Dr Houston’s office? “We’ll get to it when we have the time.”

I cannot thank enough, Mike, Dr Houston and Dr Miller, for always taking good care of my cat Lulu and my dog Mary-Jane. Lulu has a severe constipation problem and Im always so worried and stressed for him. But they are always patient, kind and professional with us. Without them I don't know what I would do. They are the best!

They are great veterinarians and the service is very friendly and prompt but I certainly wish the animal rescue squad would not be smoking a cigarette in the front door it’s disgusting

If you love your pet do not take him/her here!. My cats were patients of Dr. Cameron for over 35 years. He is a decent, intelligent and caring man with a gift for animals. He could look at an animal and instinctively know what was wrong and would follow up with proper testing. I have taken dozens of cats to him mine and rescues and never had a problem. He started treating our cat Sunny as soon as we found him in 2009. He was about a year old. Through the years he was seen and taken care of. That is until last November, after Dr. Cameron retired and I needed to take him to be checked and was told another Dr. Was there. I was not allowed to go in due to covid (other vets do allow the owner inside), I wrote her a note telling her that Sunny had been vomiting and his eating habits were changing. To please check his teeth and if that was not the problem an x-ray to rule out any obstructions or masses. When she came out with him she told me his blood work was perfect, she had “felt” his abdomen and everything was fine. He was a very healthy kitty, only a slight irritation of the gums and gave me something to put in the water. No x-ray necessary. I believed her. He continued to vomit off and on but based on what she said I thought it was just from hairballs or eating too fast. Finally this August I took him back requested these tests and she said the same thing. Nothing is wrong. This past weekend he stopped eating all together. I decided to bring him as soon as I could get an appointment but around noon time he collapsed to one side and was crying in pain. I called Cameron’s office to bring him in and was told she had no “openings” The only thing she could do was to check him in through the hospital and she would tend to him eventually. Dr. Cameron would of never done that. I know they don’t care about him and criticize him for the way he was with the animals. This is the care your pet receives now. It doesn’t matter that you have been a loyal supporter all these years or that your pet had an attack. I decided not to waste my time anymore and to take him to emergency where he was seen right away, the proper test done, blood work, x-ray and finally ultra sound. We were right with him the whole time and I was shocked to discover he had a massive tumor on his liver. Poor Sunny, suffering all this time. I feel terrible for this but even more knowing that I tried one year ago and the proper care was not given.

Worst experience since George Cameron retired, takes forever to get an appointment, have to hand your animal outside because nobody is allowed inside while all the workers go out to eat in public places. Dr. Cameron was amazing, took every cat I've ever had to him, now that Dr. Houston has taken over, although she is good, the place is run like a circus. My lady friend has 2 cats she tries to take there regularly and they charge for testing that isn't even done yet, need to find a new vet which is really sad, can't say anything good about this office anymore.

Wonderful doctors, caring staff, really dedicated to the health of the animals in their care. They really know what theyre doing, communicate it well, and follow up. Couldn’t ask for better. I have enormous trust in this practice, and dr Houston in particular goes above and beyond.

Dr Houston is excellent, no question about that. However the customer experience with this clinic is 100% horrible. For some insane reason they still wont let anyone in their offices even though all of the Cameron staff eat at restaurants, and shop at grocery stores etc. Makes absolutely 0 sense why they still hold by these draconian protocol. No parking, so you get to wait outside, in the rain, or whatever while they maybe come to to the door.....or maybe not, you just sorta wait there until someone shows up. The staff seem to always struggle with who is this animal and who are you and what is your phone number every single time. Meanwhile, its all right there in your computer along with my appointment etc. And there's crazy amounts of noise in the background because your standing on Bloomfield avenue. I dread an appointment at Cameron, my dog cannot stand the process of sprinting in and out of the car amidst the construction noises on Bloomfield. Gotta find a new practice. Again. Dr Houston is an excellent vet however Im sure most other vets in the are are just as good as she is and offer a far superior and comfortable experience when you bring your animal in.

In April of 2021, our Shih Tzu had bladder stones removed at Cameron Animal Hospital. We are pleased with the care she was provided during the surgery and during the recovery. She is back to be her normal self. We are grateful to Cameron's professional and knowledgable veterinarian & staff for making our furry friend healthy again.

Love the doctors and staff at Cameron Animal Hospital. We've brought our pets here for over twenty-five years (three cats and a dog; some no longer with us). They are kind and compassionate and always efficient in the services they provide.

Best veterinary hospital ever. 3 yrs later still the best! Dr. Houston remembers your animals . Big Mike lives on premises and checks on the animals several times a night. That makes me feel so much less anxious leaving my animals overnight.

These people charged me $159 for blood work, which now a month later I still have not gotten results! They keep trying to refer me to blood work that was done a month earlier, that has a result. Either refund me the money for the blood work that was taken on 3/25/2021, or give me the results! The next correspondence to Cameron Animal hospital will be from my lawyer, regarding this matter. And these people actually thought I would let them perform surgery on my dog? Pfftttt.......

It baffles my mind how people in these reviews complain about not being able to get immediate service for an emergency but at the same time complain about having to wait an extra 20 minutes for a regular appointment. If I have to wait 20 minutes so another person's animal doesn't die, I'll wait. Because I know and have had the experience of having to call on 1 days notice to get BOTH my dogs in and the amazing staff accommodated me. My dogs have gotten into everything -- insect bites, stings, skunk, sprains, tendonitis, a cyst, allergies, the list goes on as it always does with active dogs who are ageing and all my worries have been quelled by Dr. Houston, Dr. Miller and a staff who truly love animals. I come here for one reason, THEY TREAT MY DOGS LIKE THEIRS. Best care, thorough, and top quality. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

I don’t think you can just let anyone/anyplace handle something as important as your family’s health without intense scrutiny. Dr. Houston and team have earned my trust and my heartfelt gratitude. Ours is a relationship built over a decade in mutual appreciation of the worlds two cutest pups. While you may argue who’s the cutest, we will certainly agree on Cameron’s.

Expensive and appointments are still weeks out when you call even if pet is sick and dying! I've never been perse dissatisfied with the care of my pet but shocked when lady told me that my euthanasia appointment was 265! Why?? I was able to get It done for 50!

They're some of the friendliest and most helpful people I've met at at a vet. They clearly care about all the animals that come through their doors.

Seems like a good animal hospital, but really needs to get their things together on the adoption department.

I want to preface this by saying Dr. Houston is kind, compassionate, and thorough. She seems knowledgable. But the front desk staff here is BAD. Like, I'm not bringing my animals here again BAD. Just some of what I've experienced recently: They leave you on hold indefinitely, don't call back, act annoyed when they have the wrong number for your account, act annoyed when you point out that they didn't communicate with you about your pet... Basically, miscommunication galore. They told me that I had to schedule a surgery to remove my cat's tumor when we were never even told that she had a tumor!

Dr Cameron is compassionate, professional and is truly an expert. I've been to him for several emergencies and as a pet owner and rescuer, the least I can say that I wish for more veterinarians like him. He's quick & accurate in diagnosing and even when a rescue needed to be put to sleep, he had us name him/her because they deserved a name. He was also reasonably priced considering that I bring rescues to him. Thanks Dr Cameron!

Called this morning to get info to bring my cat for the first time. Receptionist was very rude and condescending. Maybe the doctors are good... idk because I cant get past how I was treated on the phone. First impression was terrible so I didnt make an appointment.

Had an emergency and due to current situations was not able to pay for thing on our own so we had to go through the anima shelters to help pay for our bill. My cat got sick and after this location had him with not much communication on their after constant follow-up calls when he was in their care for about 4 or 5 days. Upon picking him up were were told after asking about the procedures they performed we would have to wait for the shelters to tell us because they are the ones paying most of the bill

I was Dr. Cameron's client for over 15 years and I have spent thousands of dollars at his hospital. He is a truly amazing and compassionate human being, very much loved and admired by many of us. Once he retired, he sold the hospital to dr. Houston, then the whole experience changed for the worst. I remember that one day I was running late to my appointment because I just had a surgery and wasn't feeling well but my dog was vomiting and he had to see the vet asap. So I called the office and explained everything the the recepcionist and asked if I could reschedule the appointment for later, which he did. Once I arrived, dr. Houston made us wait for about 90 minutes, she saw us sitting there but continued to call other clients. Once it was my turn, she said that I had to wait even longer because I was "late", although I was not, because I had rescheduled the appointment, which I explained to her. She knew that my dog was vomiting and I told her that I could not wait much longer because I made a tremendous effort to be there due to the surgery. She did not care about any of it and with her frigid face and expression repeated "you have to wait!". She humiliated me in front of the staff and clients and that was the day when I stopped being a client and took my business elsewhere. Michael the manager has no input on anything now, he just obeys the new ruler-boss. Prices have also increased since Dr. Cameron retired, the new owner is very much money hungry and cero customer experience oriented. I do not recommend this animal hospital at all.
