Berg Animal Hospital PA Matawan, New Jersey

Let me preface my review by saying I have been a client of Berg Animal Hospital since 1994. Over the years I have taken five different labrador retrievers to this establishment on a regular basis. Last week one of my dogs was lethargic and not eating. They gave her a full examination along with bloodwork and an x-ray. My bill was $502.83, unfortunately I only had $501 on me. When I asked the receptionist to put the $1.83 remaining balance on my account she told me she could not do that. She stated the bill had to be paid in full. I asked to speak to the manager who told me that I had to pay the 1.83 remaining balance and I could not leave the establishment until the bill was paid. I was both embarrassed and infuriated by this treatment. If this is how they treat a client who has been loyal to their practice for almost 30 years I would never recommend them to anyone else.

We got an appointment quickly for our dog, the location is easy to find with lots of parking, we were seen fairly quickly. Dr Sack is awesome and takes time to answer all questions.

I highly recommend Berg Animal Hospital! Very impressed with the knowledge, compassion, and all around excellent service. Staff is friendly and pleasant.

Staff was extremely friendly from the appointment scheduling all the way to checkout. Vet techs and the doctor were wonderful with my wild child puppy, even sitting on the floor during most of the visit because there was no way she was staying on the exam table. First visit and definitely won't be the last. They even gave a cute little goodie bag because this is my first dog (and first visit with them).

Best vet in the area! Great Doctor's. Everyone is so happy and friendly. My dog actually likes going!

Quick professional compassionate and communicative. They also allow you to come into the exam room with your pet.

Took excellent care of my injured stray female Calico... had to amputate her front leg, so we named her "Triples"... She lived a long happy life afterwards... she died a couple of years ago, but would never came near living as long as she did if it weren't for the Drs at Berg Memorial...

Very caring, I had to put my cat to sleep, so sad. Berg animal hospital was so great during this process. I highly recommend them.

I took my 7 month old puppy to get spayed, microchipped and 2 ext couple weeks ago and she is doing awesome, the staff are super informative and the Dr was Very Sweet. I would recommend for everyone who has a pet to come here !!

Everyone was very attentive and kind. This was the first time in a long time that I’ve been back. Our first dog passed away and Dr. Montekio was her doctor at the time. She’s such a caring person and I decided to try and see if she was still at Bergs since we needed to bring our new dog in. And as before she’s still as sweet and thoughtful as ever. So happy that she was able to see him. The staff is so welcoming. ❤️

Was able to schedule appointment within a couple of days. Doctor and staff were very pleasant. Had a very nice first experience.

Bringing my dogs here since I was in high school ( I'm 67 now). Although I miss Dr. Berg very much, the doctors and all the staff there now are very knowledgeable, helpful and kind.

Took my dog there for a emergency visit and after charging me 180.00 within 7 minutes of time gave me a IV bag not attached to my poor animal and informed me to take to hospital.I find this totally unprofessional I had previously emailed them a video of my dog what kind of diagnosis can a vet provide within 7 mins but before charging me this ridiculous price which I would have gladly paid if my dog was treated with compassion.After 2 mins the vet did come out and inform me that my dog wouldn’t make it how can you make that determination without taking one X-ray or a exam .Horrible care the one good thing I did take him to red bank he and so happy he is back to normal

We had an emergency with out dog and were not patients there but it was the closest vet clinic from where were. They happily welcomed us in and quickly found a room where we could spend the last moments with our beloved dog. I appreciated all of the care they provided us for not being a patient.

I have two cats that have only been to this place. Everyone I’ve ever spoken to here is always kind and so patient and understanding. They explain everything in detail to you and don’t push anything on you when you don’t feel comfortable. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area!

We have used Berg Animal hospital for 25 years. They are incredible people. We saw Dr. Berg with our Pugs Bonnie and Clyde many years ago and now bring our one year old Havapoo Lando where he typically sees Dr. Brognano. She has been wonderful with Lando and I would highly recommend the practice.

Terrible experience. I had an emergency with my dog. The woman om the phone asked if I was a regular patient there, when I said no she let out a big sigh then was rude and short for the rest of our conversation.

Fast, friendly, reasonably priced. You can tell these people all love what they do

My rescue cat is very docile and warm and cuddly to me but she is also very afraid of strangers and being contained. I practiced luring her into a dog sized carrier with treats and when the day came for the appt and i zipped it closed she frantically clawed at the mesh sides of the carrier. She meowed like crazy all the way there. I was concerned that I would never be able to lure her in there again for any follow up visits. The appt was perfect. A tech comes out to the car wearing a mask and takes the carrier in. Dr. Brognano calls your cell phone to discuss any findings. Everything was explained to me in terms that I could understand and every single concern I had was addressed. At no time did I feel pressured to do any additional procedures or buy any products from the hospital. The tech returns your pet to the car. The entire appt was contactless. No COVID worries here. My fearful kitty was calm and quiet all the way home. When home she sat on my lap for a bit and then went back into the carrier! She continues to go in and hang out in the carrier like she can't wait to go back! I can't tell you how thankful I am that my kitty can now receive regular care from Berg Animal Hospital.

We’ve been taking all of our pets here for over 20 years. Most recently we have been seeing Dr. Montekio and she is great! She is so friendly and very informative. All the women up front, as well as the techs are wonderful too! Thanks for everything ????

I've been using Berg Animal Hospital for about 25 years . The staff is superior! I've have received friendly, professional and patient service. When an emergency occurs they have readily accommodated me. When my aged dog needed to pass on, the amount of compassion my family received from the staff was exceptional.

They take great care of our dog and have always been kind and flexible. Prices are reasonable and expected for veterinary care. They have also be really responsible during the pandemic and make me feel safe during our interactions during these times. They also have been helpful with pet insurance stuff and always pick up the phone when I have a question. Highly recommend!
