For my family and I it was a bad experience they made us make an appointment to go see a puppy for adoption and see if it was the right pick when the day came we filled out a paper normally but I came with my children like any mother would I felt out of place at that instant, well we waited about 20 minutes or so within those minutes they come up to us saying they had no puppies that wasn’t the problem what got me mad was when I asked if they had puppies the day before and they said yes but apparently from one day to another they don’t have anymore puppies and then my husband and I wanted to see the other dogs but she didn’t even let us see them since we can’t adopt them due to our children we understood but we only wanted to see and not adopt the bigger dogs since we did want puppies so I don’t know if it was our race or something but I did feel uncomfortable mad and not pleased at all I felt so out of place

Went twice, The people working there are friendly and helpful. My second visit I walked away with a great black Lab mix. I couldn't be happier with him. Such a sweet dog. For those that go please support this organization and buy pet food from them.

UPDATE 1/5/2021: THE RESPONSE SAYS THEY NO LONGER TEST FOR THESE DISEASES BECAUSE THEY ARE UNCOMMON HOWEVER THE LAST 3 POSTS STATE A FELV+ CAT WAS ADOPTED OUT TO THEM. CEO SALARY IS OVER $300,000 PER YEAR BUT THEY CAN’T GIVE POOR LITTLE KITTENS A $30 TEST. IRRESPONSIBLE, DISGUSTING WAY TO DO BUSINESS. BEWARE: THIS SHELTER DOES NOT TEST CATS FOR FIV OR FELV. THEY SENT ME HOME WITH A KITTEN THAT TESTED POSITIVE FOR LEUKEMIA. ASK FOR TESTS.

What a beautiful facility!! The animals are happy , loved and clean. Mark walked us around and was super friendly .Every shelter should be so wonderful. We are currently waiting to adopt a beautiful German shepherd awaiting medical clearance.

Adopted a kitten from here to find out he is FELV positive. Mother was a stray and not tested for this, understandable it’s expensive but now a whole litter can be infected. Not as expensive as these vet bills placed in my care now. When I called, the first call did not go well, this is my first kitten and wanted to speak to someone on the medical team but was told “i don’t know what more you want if you can find information online,” & “you can return him that’s the best we can do”. I was very upset, then they had called me again later in the day with a more experienced customer service representative. I was told that there was a paper on FELV in the folder but I have not found it, i was emotional but i don’t think i was rude, this is unfair for everyone & I’m still very upset with this . I was told to return the cat like it was a broken toy. At least test stray cats that come into the shelter. He is apart of my family now and I will do what I have to do to keep him healthy, it could have been detected. I adopted a kitten that was born 8/15 to alert those who may have adopted from the same litter.

Shelter is irresponsible and unethical in its adoption process. Adopted out to my family a kitten that was showing signs of FeLV without any mention of illness. She started showing signs of being sick the day after we got her home . After three vet visits and two rounds of antibiotics she tested positive for FeLV . Shelter should be testing all cats for this disease which is a common practice amongst shelters . Except St Hubert’s says it is not cost effective so they do not do this. Please ask for tests. Took this sweet girl home to two other cats and this disease is contagious. Now we just pray out other pets we’re not infected . Had to return her to this shelter unwillingly but with no choice out of fear for our other pets. No idea what will happen with this sweet kitten because we cannot even get a call back From the shelter after multiple calls. Now an entire family is heartbroken because of the actions of this organization. Please. Be very careful when adopting pets here!

I never write reviews, but I have to write this one. Our beloved cat passed away at the end of the summer. We wanted to honor her memory by bringing another cat into our family. We had some somewhat disappointing experiences with other rescues. St. Huberts was recommended to us by an employee at shelter. What a great place. Clean and well cared for animals and a good staff that seem passionate about getting animals adopted into good homes. Our Lulu is a blessing. We are so grateful to have found her and are thrilled to be her family! We will continue to spread the word about St. Huberts and the great job they are doing. Keep it up!!! These animals need families!!!

Was apart of the adoption event today! And I was able to find my fur baby “Buttons”, the staff was super helpful even though there were lots of people there today! We weren’t expecting to get a big dog, we originally figured we would end up with a beagle sized doggo but once we laid eyes on this beauty we simply couldn’t resist. I can’t believe someone returned her originally! As soon as we saw her walk back in the door I felt like she was meant to be mine. She is so extremely well behaved and loves people! Thank you for helping us find our fur baby, I think she’s happy to have found her furever home. Everybody meet Cleo ????

Wonderful place to adopt a pet, take dog training classes or drop your dog off for socialization or training. Virtual training available for cats and dogs.

Very good experience. Personable staff members. Clean. My daughter & I went to look at male dogs & it came down to 2 dogs. We decided to adopt a Cur Mountain hunting dog. Try to get there when they open. On the days when they have an event, it starts to get crowded. There is a wait time to see the animals. They also accept donations.

Excellent training program. Me dog is so excited when we pull up and can't wait for class to start. We've completed puppy kindergarten and one puppy play. Just started basic 1.

I have the privilege to visit the place on Madison with my kids to adopt a puppy. We have the opportunity to meet the puppy and just take the dog home right away! I’m happy to know that they are not making adoption difficult for us because it’s takes time to find a place and a puppy and it’s hard to fall in love with them and not be able to adopt them.

Recently, I went through their foster-to-adopt program for a heartworm positive dog and found out how truly disorganized and unaccountable St. Huberts can be. They always said we can adopt when treatment was complete. Through these two months of treatment I have been met with nothing but adversity, caused by the shelter. - Receiving the wrong dog’s information folder in the beginning - Not being informed of upcoming treatments earlier in July that I did not know about until I called for my dog’s medical records and reviewed them myself - Clinic staff not being knowledgeable about appointments - And most recently, my dog being hospitalized, after returning from an overnight stay at St. Huberts, with pneumonia when she has been isolated and inactive as instructed When I took my dog to get her two shots for treatment they served me papers for adoption, which I learned later is when they deem treatment “complete” even though she still had medicine to finish and a blood test to confirm that she is cured. Fast forward two weeks, and she is hospitalized with pneumonia and I am faced with a hospital bill for almost $3,000, after keeping my dog in the house and only allowing her to walk to the corner and back as instructed to do because of the medicine that she is on and the injections. I bring this to the attention of Ms. Laura Linneman, Director of Animal Care, and Ms. Tiffany Barrow, VP of Operations, who both met my calls with irritation as they fell back on, “You signed the papers. You are the legal owner. We cannot help you,” as their go to phrase. I asked Ms. Barrow, “if you took your dog to get groomed and he/she fell ill shortly after, would you not hold the groomer accountable to a degree?” She fell silent, then decided to go to repeating, “you are the legal owner…” Her only attempt to take accountability for the shelter she helps operate causing a dog to fall ill and moving the line on when treatment of an illness is complete was to offer a $200 adoption fee refund, for an almost $3,000 medical bill caused by their facility. All while nobody took the time to ask about the dog’s condition or assure that they would check/monitor the condition of the dogs in their care to ensure that they did not also develop pneumonia. If I decide to adopt another dog I for sure will not be visiting St. Huberts now that I know their standards, policy, and ethics.
