Animal General Edgewater, New Jersey

Outstanding veterinarians, and a very well-run business. I have been a client of Animal General for about 15 years. Living in Hoboken, I was always happy to spend the extra time and effort to get the car out and drive up to Animal General. Dr Bill Freedman and Dr Stefanie Lang are the current veterinarians I saw, and both gave me an exceptional experience overall. In the 15 years of being a client I only saw one other veterinarian, who started us out with Animal General and who was also exceptional. When our Viszla was about five we started bringing him here, because we felt we weren't getting the best care at the options in Hoboken. In all our time I found the quality of care very high at Animal General, and their prices to be very fair. Their office staff as well have always been helpful and friendly. It's just a well-run business in addition to being a great place for veterinary care. Anyway, our Viszla was a tough case. He had a long life but wound up with an inoperable brain tumor that caused him to become totally blind and he suffered from seizures. We had moved to Spain for a few years and it was there that the veterinarian diagnosed him, and when we returned we continued with Animal General and their care was excellent. Dr. Freedman provided exceptional and personal care through the end of his life. When we adopted our new dog, who himself is challenging, we of course set him up at Animal General immediately, and Dr. Lang has been a joy to work with. It was April 2020 when we started out with him there, and with her, and she went above and beyond through those difficult times. We have since moved too far away to continue as a client on the day to day, but I still consider ourselves clients and if we encounter a big issue, I will happily drive the two hours to return to Animal General. You're not going to be disappointed. Treat them with respect and friendship and you'll receive it double in return. You'll be very happy bringing your pet here.

Dr. Lang is so very sweet and kind. She did a full physical on my very nervous pup and halfway through he was showering her in kisses. She really has the magic touch and I’d recommend her to anyone.

I've been bringing my cats here for years and have found them to be an excellent, trustworthy, and humane practice. The prices always seem reasonable. Dr. Lang is an excellent and thoughtful communicator. I'm grateful to have a great vet not too far from home.

Dr. Lang is amazing. She followed up post office visit and truly cares about my pet. Dr. Lang did a thorough exam, explained everything that needed to be done and discussed the cost of every item. She understands that my little guy is family and has a great deal of compassion. Take your pet to Animal General for excellent care.

I have been taking my cat here for her veterinary needs for the last 3 years. The staff is polite, professional and very accommodating. The doctors are top notch. I would highly recommend.

I have been going here since 2018/19 because I can trust the vet and professionals at Animal General to take good care of my fur-baby, Tommie- I can ask them questions (silly or not) to better take care of my boy from vaccine shot to dental care.

Have been going to Dr Lang for a few years. First with my rescue dog , now with the new puppy. Very professional, compassionate, always returns phone calls. Technicians are great, girls up front are wonderful.

There isn’t anything negative to say about Animal General. I was new to being a cat owner when i first went there with a kitten that was found as a stray by the local police dept, and i ended up adopting. Fast forward 3 years and another kitten later and i still am happy to go for their exams, shots and now with and app to use. Kind service, happy fur babies and good prices. All excellent. I only wish i could move them south with me.

I have always taken my dogs to Animal General. Dr. Freedman, other Drs. and staff have always been responsive. They take the time to explain their diagnosis and the plan of action. While being very professional they are so caring for my dogs. I have recommended friends and would recommend if you care about your pet go to Animal General.

Loki & Apollo appreciate Dr.Lang very much! If you’re looking for knowledgeable and kind veterinarians for your pets, this is definitely the place for you. We had some bloodwork & other tests done for our senior labrador recently and although our pup was anxious, Dr.Lang & the vet tech were patient all throughout the exam. In regards to price, we’re super pleased, Dr.Lang never pushes treatments or tests that are unnecessary and is very clear about what would be most beneficial for the fur babies :) Also, we only waited about a day and a half to hear back about Loki’s bloodwork, we couldn’t be happier. I've always had a great experience with Animal General and they've taken great care of my cat Rara. Would certainly recommend to anyone in the Edgewater - Weehawken area.

This was the first exam for two kittens found in my garage. They were skittish at first but Dr Lang won them over. Was able to hear Pepper’s heart once the purring calmed down. Both have become my family. I lost my beloved Bobby in February at the age of 19-1/2. He got wonderful and compassionate care at Animal General. I trust them to give the same to Gracie and Pepper.

Dr. Tierney spent plenty of time answering our many questions and offered us lots of advice, which we needed (first time having a young puppy). He was extremely patient & knowledgeable.

This vet was recommended to me by a friend when I got my first dog. All of the staff and doctors are extremely kind and knowledgeable. Any issues my dog has ever had have been greatly taken care of. Even during COVID, I felt very comfortable letting my dog go in for a visit without me in the room. I appreciated that they stood on the phone with my the whole time and explained everything they were doing. The last thing I want to mention is that I appreciate their punctuality!

I can’t say enough good things about Animal General - they are the best! I’ve been coming here for 3 years with my dog and never had a bad experience or one complaint. Every veterinarian there is amazing, the staff is so polite and caring! Overall they treat your pet as if it were there own and I couldn’t ask for anything more, definitely recommend going to them, you won’t regret it!

I have been taking my dog to Animal General since he was a puppy. Although he doesn’t prefer to go to the vet, he loves Dr. Tierney. We have seen a few of the other doctors there and they are all knowledgeable and friendly. However Dr. Tierney really goes above and beyond. It is clear in his interactions, that he genuinely loves animals! If you want excellent care for your fur baby, definitely go here.

Our dog got her teeth cleaned here recently. They kept her safe and called us promptly to tell us how she was doing. The cleaning was reasonably priced and all the staff from the receptionist to the vet were very nice and patient and helpful. Dr Ng has been consistently excellent. She takes great care of our pup and gives her lots of love too.

I have been taking my Lab to Animal General for 10 years and will now be taking my poodle as well. The facility is clean, organized and efficiently run. The Vets and staff are all very attentive, caring and explain things thoroughly.

We have been going to Animal General for almost 14 years. Dr. Bill Friedman and his entire staff are exceptional. The care, attention, and sensitivity is like no other facility.
