Im giving 2 stars because I had great experiences in the past HOWEVER I would've did 1. The manager Melissa handled my situation in a professional manner and de-escalated the call. I would give just her a 4. I had an appt for Vaccines and Exam. I called prior to the appt to inform them that my dog had already got some of his shots and the lady said that was fine and confirmed my appointment.... My fiancé brought our dog in, and he was under the impression that the appt been set up and all he needed to do was bring our dog. we ALWAYS trusted this place to do the job with no issues. this time was not the case. they gave him every shot I CALLED to tell them NOT to! AND CHARGED FOR THEM TOO. My fiancé did agree to everything the dr said but that was because we were under the impression that the information that I already called about was documented. AGAIN we trusted this place. NONE OF THIS INFORMATION WAS DOCUMENTED!!! it concerns me because they mishandled vital information that was passed along to them. They DID NOT document the call I had. I was refused half of the shots. WHAT PROMPTED ME TO LEAVE THIS LONG BAD REVIEW WAS THE SERVICE FROM THEIR FRONT DESK AGENTS. the first person I had contact with didn't put important information in the system nor did she document the call. I no longer trust these people with the health of my dog. the 2nd person thank god I got her name AMANI! she was super rude, and when I said I didn't get correct info or I wasn't heard her response was "well Im doing that aint I?!" and her tone was distasteful. she reciprocated the anger back at me. YES I was upset but they mishandled my DOG and information. I had the right to be upset but for her to be as nasty as she was, she doesn't care about our pets. they only care about the money. I paid half of what my dog didn't need because they couldn't fix the mistake THEY made.

I absolutely love Dr.Sarno, he gave me hope with my baby precious, she wasn't eating for a couple days and not feeling herself and now she is feeling like her normal self. I wouldn't know what to do without him. By far the best Dr. Ever.

My experience with Dr. Mayling Chinn and staff was fantastic!!! She is so thorough and honest. I like it when I am told the facts upfront. She is so caring of both the pets and owners. I so highly recommend Dr. Chinn and her staff. Thanks Dr. Chinn!!!

I'm shocked to see people complaining about VCA over having to wait in their car during Covid pandemic. Everyone's life changed during this you have to adjust. I have NEVER heard the staff here being rude. Dr Sarno is a very caring highly experienced Vet. I moved to this location from a very horrible Vet and I love the staff here they are always friendly and caring. Top of the line!

Staff was rude and uncompassionate, had to wait in my car forever before they would see my dog even though she was emergent, charged way too much for services, would not recommend

I never write reviews but today was an exception. I have a cat with congestive heart failure. Due to the situation with covid 19 I cancel the upcoming exam as I don’t not feel comfortable with curb side appointments with my cat. Yesterday my cat got out and I have not been able to find him. His last dose was yesterday morning so I called the Dr. Chinn to see how long I had as I am currently looking for him. She had the nerve to tell me that because I had canceled that appointment she couldn’t answer a general question like how long does it take for the meds to leave a system. It made me upset like she was punishing me because I would not sign a waiver to let them do what ever they want to my cat while I’m not in the room with him. I understand businesses need money but to be so heartless in a time of need and stress due to a situation beyond my control is just cruel.

Dr. Michele Hoyt and her crew have been, and continue to be, amazing caretakers of my dogs. I oversee a large K9 Unit of working of dogs that need to remain healthy, happy, and operational in order to keep the public safe. Dr. Michele Hoyt, Mellissa, and the entire VCA Decatur staff are who I trust to keep my whole kennel in tip top shape. Dr. Hoyt has answered questions and made herself available at all hours and even on her days off, Mellissa does a great job at keeping me informed about billing and orders, and the countless other techs and staff are always hustling and treating my dogs and handlers with kindness. I could not ask for better. Thank you VCA Decatur Team!

Recently adopted two kittens and a free wellness exam was offered at this place. Made an appointment for 2 o clock, they asked me to arrive at 1:45 for paperwork. We arrived around 1:40 and called, they came out for paperwork. It wasn't until 2:25 that they actually came and got the kittens so we were sitting in our car for 45 minutes in an empty parking lot with two scared kittens. The vet tech who came and got the kittens was rude on top of all of this. Will never be coming back to this place. Highly recommend that everyone finds an alternative.

Dr. Hoyt and staff are AWESOME!!! We’ve been taking our pets there for 30 years now. Everyone is friendly and loving towards the animals. Dr. Hoyt has saved a couple of our pets lives through the years and been there with us when we’ve had to say goodbye. Caring and compassionate, excellent service and professionalism. We love our Decatur VCA family!!!

I wish I could give zero stars. First of all after adopting our pet from the shelter last week we recieved a call from this vet to schedule an appointment. After coming to our appointment they asked if we had brought the shelter paperwork which they never told me I would need. After wasting that day I chose to reschedule with them again. This time we had our appointment set to noon but we got there about 10 minutes earlier in case we had to fill out paperwork. After waiting 30 minutes and seeing countless other people get seen before us we decided to ask the receptionist if they had a status on how much longer we would have to wait. She sarcastically said "that she could not hear the doctor in the back room so she did not know how much longer we had to wait." A professional front staff could have said something more along the lines of "I don't know at this time but I can check for you." After hearing her response we were pretty upset because we have been waiting over 30 minutes with no status. After all that we still decided to wait another 10 minutes, we finally decided to leave after we saw another person get called up before us who had walked through the door 40 minutes after us. I have seen another review from another family who had brought their pet from the shelter here and encountered a similar situation. So it is obvious they do not care about your time if your are bringing your pet for the free check up. AVOID THIS PLACE. Do Not Waste Your Time here like they did to us. I have no idea why the shelter partners up with a place like this. It is shameful.

The entire Staff are awesome and alway taken care of both my Rottweilers. When my oldest (13) gave out and couldn't get up they came to my home to put him down which I appreciated him being able to pass at home. Thank you to everyone for always taking such great care of my boys.

I brought my kitten here for a courtesy examination, and was confident in the vet's skills to properly care for my cat. The wait was very short, and the entire staff was very friendly. The only reason for a 4 star review is that, upon inquiring about prices of certain procedures, the costs were much higher than other facilities I've inquired about. I will take my cats here for exams and shots, but any major procedures or spay/neuter I might take elsewhere because of the high cost.

My appointment was @ 445pm I arrived @ 345pm so I waited till 445pm for my actual appointment. I never got called for my cat to get seen. It was 530pm when I left. The whole time I waited patiently as others got called before me.

We have been going here for a long time, great staff, Dr. Chinn has been caring for one of your dogs for almost 14 years and he just recently passed. They handled everything for us and made it easier to walk away from a life long friend, and even sent us a card. It is the small things that matter and the mattered to us, thank you. Flash and any other dogs we get will be going here as long as they are alive.

Prices are astronomical for nothing special. I went in for a simple heartworm test. A test that ranges between $25 to $50. They take my dog back for his blood to be drawn. After, when I go to pay I am told that the blood work costs $112, not including any kind of exam fee. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE OTHER POOR REVIEWS COMPLAINING OF COST. When I say I was expecting near $50, the vet comes out and starts telling me how uncommon heartworm is in Vegas so it makes the testing much more expensive. She then says that the price shouldn't matter because I wont have to be paying for heartworm preventative in vegas because it is not necessary (not true! It is recommended to use a preventative, even in vegas. This statement seemed to be given in order to have me hand over the money, and it did not have my dog's health and safety in mind) I have never been the type of person to refuse payment, I've never even sent a meal back at a restraunt. So I very reluctantly pay. I get in the car and feel completely ripped off. I Google vets near me and call the first two that come up within a mile away. They both quote me $35 and $39 to do the exact same test. I am even offered a free exam for being a first time patient. I go back in and tell the them that this price is just not right and I would not like to have the bloodwork sent out. At least they offer me my money back. It is always wise to ask prices first, but this was my second time coming and did not feel jipped the first time. For a common preventative, yearly test they should not be taking advantage of their patients like this. I am a broke yet spare no expense pet owner who even opted to pay for pet insurance. I don't mind paying a little more for better treatment, but this is not the case. Speculation: I look much younger than I am and perhaps this was a situation where they were trying to take advantage of a seemingly inexperienced pet owner. My dog is 1 year old so it is reason to believe I have not had experience with vets before. But I have had many pets and several great experiences with vets. Even if this is not the case, I don't see why anyone who knows the cost of common preventative care and advisement would go here. When I handed them the payment I felt robbed.

Took my rat in for tumor removal. I knew it would be expensive but this cost triple what it would have at my regular vet. They used dissolving stitches the first time around for an external incision. Well anyone with half a brain knows how that ended up. She had them out in less then a day. Asked for a cone when I went to pick her up from surgery and they refused to sell one. Then they wanted to charge me 200 for having to put in staples ( because they put her under instead of just using lidocaine. ) If your an exotic owner I highly recommend going to Sky point. They are a fabulous vet and have NEVER charged me for having to redo stitches.

The new building that they recently moved into is fantastic. They have a lot of space available and it's very bright and open. They're also great with my dog Artemis, and have even helped us on the phone when I couldn't afford to bring her in.

Excellent Service from scheduling an appointment to the day of your appointment. Excellent front desk staff that is very informative. Dr. Goodman D.V.M. Is Superior in her field! She goes above and beyond. She talks you through everything she is examine with your pet. I would recommend VCA Decatur to anyone. They have a great plan that covers Visits & Wellness for a small monthly fee. If you combine that with Their Trupanion 30 day trial, you are covered from head to toe. Continue the Trupanion coverage after the trial for a monthly fee & select your deductible. You don't have to fork the money out of your pocket, as they will file the claim for you. Excellent job to all the staff at VCA Decatur! It should tell you something that the police department uses them for their canine police dogs!
