Everyone was very caring and professional. They explained what was happening and the plan for care and answered all my questions.

After four trips to the regular vet and $500, one trip here and my dog’s eye ulcer was healed. Thank you!! If any eye problems pop up in the future I’m heading straight here. Also, they were all so kind and caring!!

After visiting 3 vets, the last one suggested this place. They quickly diagnosed my little fur ball and sent me on my way with eye drops that actually worked! They explained everything so well. People are complaining here that it is too expensive. This place is a specialist...I expected to pay more than a regular vet. I have no complaints about the price. It might be a good idea to for staff to inform customers of the price of the visit when the appointment is made. But I couldn't be happier with the results! Thank you!

Just make sure when you schedule an appointment (even if it’s more than a week in advance) you’re not scheduled as a “work in appointment”. You get stuck waiting in the parking lot expecting for your pet to be seen at the scheduled time that was set. Then after waiting 40 minutes in your car and no one has come to see your pet, you’re told your appointment is a “work in” and if someone else shows up for their appointment you have to wait. This place has great doctors, but only if your fur baby can actually be seen.

Wonderful, wonderful place. The staff is so friendly, I hardly ever have to wait too long, and the doctor is incredible.

Dr Smith and the whole staff are amazing people. They've taken care of our dog for years. The care and compassion are second to none! If I had to drive a 1000 miles to take my dog there I would! The world needs more like them!

Our little Chi is 12 years old and developed cataracts in both eyes. The left eye was particularly bad. She would often run into things are get startled easily. Our regular vet said she was beyond being able to have corrective surgery. Not accepting that as a final answer, we found these guys. She went in for her intial appointment with high hopes and doubt. The staff are very friendly and her appointments are always on time. Dr. Smith came to the car and explained everything. We also went over it again with his wonderful staff. We decided the surgery was a must! If we could restore her eyesight it would a miracle. It's very expensive though. Our Chi is acting like a puppy and being able to watch her, see her reactions to being able to see was well worth it!! They can't do it themselves and as fur parents there's really no other choice to make. I know we would want to see again if we could. We are very pleased this far and are here for her 3 week check-up. We highly recommend this hospital, Dr. Smith and the wonderful staff! We are truly thankful for the hope and life they brought back to our baby! God bless them especially during this time of Covid19. They are still putting their lives at risk to help people and fur babies. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Our Veterinarian at Creature Comforts, Dr.Tiffany Paul, recommended Eye Care for Animals because our poodle had lost vision in her left eye and had a high pressure reading of 75 due to Glaucoma. Her right eye has good vision with a pressure reading in the 20s. Dr. Christopher Smith at Eye Care confirmed the left eye reading in the 70s. He prescribed eye drops and a pill to relieve pain. After two weeks, a return visit confirmed a slight decrease in pressure to 66. Dr. Smith suggested a costly medical procedure, ciliary body ablation, in which he put a one-time shot in the left eye to decrease the pressure and deaden the nerves and tissue that causes the pressure increase. This procedure deadens the cells which produce aqueous humor reducing the rate of fluid produced, reducing the pressure. Upon our financial approval to proceed, on 7-30-2020, Dr. Smith did the procedure and kept our dog for 5 hours. Pressure in the left eye was immediately reduced from 66 to 19. Immediately after the procedure our dog had more energy with a significant change in behavior for a 13 year old dog. After the procedure, we continued some of the same eye drops for two weeks. We no longer give her pain pills because of the reduced eye pressure. A two week follow-up appointment confirmed that the pressure in the left eye was further reduced from 19 to 6. In 3 weeks, we continued to give her reduced medications. We had another follow-up appointment on 9-1-2020. At this appointment, the left eye pressure was measured at 8, remaining low as desired. Dr. Smith further reduced medications. Her next follow-up appointment was on 11-10-2020. Her left eye pressure was measured at 10, remaining low as desired after her operation on 7-30-2020. Her right eye was measured at a normal 21. We have a follow-up appointment on 1-12-2021. At this time, we are very happy with Dr. Smith, his professional staff, and with the results of the medical procedure on our poodle. It was well worth the cost of the medical procedure that resulted in a better pain-free life for our pet. She is our sweet child that continuously gives love and joy to us, a retired couple. Ken

My Chihuahua needed surgery to repair a corneal tear and cherry eye. We were referred by Banfield. Dr Smith and the staff have been amazing!

It should be no stars. Dr. Smith and the other staff are completely negligent and caused my dog Winston to DIE. My wife was called in less than 2 hours to come pick him up. He hadn't had surgery or any anesthesia went into respiratory failure with a temp over 105. Dr. Smith recommended my wife drive him somewhere else and when she got there Winston was standing, but couldn't walk. He couldn't breath and his tongue was GRAY. Bloody foam came out of his nose and he collapsed and died on her lap. He wasn't getting oxygen and had no monitoring when she arrived. Before the eye problem he was a healthy bulldog. Yes, bulldogs can have breathing problems...something they claimed to understand and be aware of. Yet, even though we don't know why he went into respiratory failure we do know the doctor didn't treat Winston appropriately and now he's DEAD. He had never had issues in the past and wasn't even 2 years old. This place killed my dog or at the very least LET HIM DIE. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Dr. Smith and his team are awesome, you just know they have a true love for animals. Very good reasons, I don't know what would have been the outcome for my baby's eyes had we not have found Eye Care for Animals.

Great experience under the circumstances. Dr Autin was very kind, gentle, and compassionate towards my little four-legged guy. Knowledgeable and comprehensive. Considerate of her to work us in given the nature of the illness. Appreciate the follow-up plan. Would definitely recommend. Bonus was the caring staff!

Very warm, compassionate and professional staff at this facility. The parking is limited, but everything is immaculate and well organized. It's immediately obvious that everyone loves pets and enjoys what they do for others. Our fur-baby had a foxtail in her eye. We removed it, but there was a lot of redness and our veterinarian, Dr. Julie @ the E. Charleston Animal Hospital, saw a small puncture upon examination & referred us here. They were kind enough to squeeze us in the next day as an emergency. Fortunately, under their loving care and the use of eyedrops, she's ok now! We're very grateful for everything they have done for her.

The office was a little tricky to find since we're not familiar with the area but was worth the drive. Dr. Smith was highly recommended by our vet for my kitten who has eye issues from the Herpes virus. Dr. Smith has a great love of animals and treated Harry like one of his own. The office is super clean and the staff is top notch. Though their schedule fills up quickly, l love that even if they're booked, if needed, they can accommodate you in between patients. Others have commented on cost, but any area of specialty medicine you are going to pay more for the level of care whether it be person or pet. Also, a lot depends on the issue that needs to be treated. That said, I was not shocked. Harry is doing great and that's what matters most to us. We highly recommend Dr. Smith and his team.

Dr. Smith is a magician. We are so glad we made the decision to come here because our results & experience were more than exceptional. Unfortunately, our Pekingese got into a cat fight in the middle of the night - literally which took out a chunk of his eye. Naturally, he was in so much pain, we took him to the ER and they said he needed to see a specialist and recommended Eye Care for Animals. Due to the severity of the injury, they were able to see him first thing in the morning. The news wasn't good and even though 2 other doctors recommended removing the eye, Dr. Smith was convinced he could save it. Even though that's all I wanted to hear, I wanted the most comfortable experience for my fur baby. He had to clear up his infection before getting the surgery (took about 3 days) and the staff were there every step of the way. They called to check on him almost every day and Peggy up at the front desk was so compassionate and helpful when it came to payment options. I can never thank them enough for helping us feel better too! Everyone there cares. It's expensive but you get what you pay for - my boy has healed like nothing has ever happened. His vision and my sanity was saved and he has fully recovered all in a month!

Our regular vet really freaked us out about all the things that could have been wrong with our cat when we noticed one of his pupils was bigger than the other. He referred us to Eye Care for Animals to confirm what was up, and they were so great with him! My cat is not a fan of the vet but they were so sweet and gentle with him, and the vet did an amazing job at letting us know what he was doing and what he was thinking throughout the whole exam. He was honest with us but comforting and it was a much better experience for me and my cat than any previous very visits.

Dr. Smith is one of the most kindest and caring vets I have had the pleasure of dealing with for my dogs' eye care. His staff is always friendly and caring. We travel from Arizona over 340 miles round trip to see Dr. Smith and his staff. Professional, kind and caring. My dogs have been going to him for over 3 years. If you want the best eye specialist, Dr. Smith is the best.

Very caring and professional staff. One of our dogs had developed glaucoma in one eye so badly that it needed to be removed. We were referred to Dr. Smith by our veterinarian. He confirmed that the pressure in the eye was dangerously high and the eye needed to be removed. He also explained that we could have our regular veterinarian do the surgery and that basically the main difference was that Dr. Smith places a prosthetic in the spot where they eye once was so that the skin doesn't sink in. They did the surgery that day. Not only does our dog look great but Dr. Smith took great care to protect the nerves around the eye so that when our dog uses his eyes for expression, both eyebrows go up, not just one. About a week later our other dog had a run-in with a rat trap. Dr. Smith did everything possible to preserve his eyesight. Poor dog is blind in that eye now, but Dr. Smith was able to preserve the eye. Unless you knew he was blind in that eye you would never notice. The front office staff and techs are very friendly and compassionate. I can't say enough good about Dr. Smith and his staff.
