Thank you Dr. Ellingson for giving me a call and clearing things up. Meant a lot. Our first experience was amazing, my kitten was hurt badly and struggling to breathe and ended up needing her foot bandaged as well. I was told if I struggled with keeping it bandaged I could bring her back and get it rewrapped and it would be covered under the expensive vet bill I paid that night of $189 for cutting the string that she was tightly tangled in, putting her in the oxygen tank for a very short time, and wrapping her foot with the pretty pink bandage and an improvised styrofoam cup around her head. I ended up needing to bring her back in after many failed attempts at keeping her from hurting her own paw. They tried to charge me another $116 for cleaning her paw and putting a cone on that I didn’t consent to, and when I couldn’t pay since they said it would be covered under her previous payment removed everything and didn’t even wrap her paw. Definitely disappointed and at a loss of how to help my baby tonight resulting in lots of tears between me and my 7 year old daughter after considering giving her away because we can’t afford emergency vet bills. I just wish they had stuck to their kind offer to wrap her again if needed. I went through a bunch of trouble to get her there. I would have given 5 stars for our emergency visit, but definitely disappointed in follow up.

I was so scared I was going to loose my sweet dog Holly due to her being diabetic and eating a box of caramel popcorn while on vacation in Montana. I was so thankful this emergency veterinary was open at 1 am. The price was fair and truly appreciate the transparency on the cost throughout the process. My Holly girl must have felt the same because when the Doctor came outside to chat with us before leaving she laid her head on his leg as to say "thank you for saving me"! The doctor was the kindest most gentle vet I have ever seen. The quick response and emergency care saved her life! I will never be able to find the words of gratitude for saving my girl. Shes home safe in Washington and making a great recovery! Thank you ALL!!!!

They know what there doing, but last resort unless you're rich and pushy. Edit: he's doing better now because I found the equipment I needed for less than $100. It feels like they know your going to say yes to whatever amount you can possibly spend because it's literally family. When the giant bill is the priority and the health of the closest thing I have is deteriorating in that moment it felt natural to not trust them anymore. I'm glad I couldn't afford the $2400 now because he'd probably be gone by now at the rate I saw. I enjoyed some of the knowledge the vets shared with me but whoever is the head running this place needs to figure something out.

This place is ridiculous. I call and let the receptionist know that my dog is in extreme pain and breathing wierd and without pet insurance or being able to pay there fees they won't let me bring her in to be looked at. This is supposed to be a place where I can bring my pet to be seen without any hesitation. They are more concerned with getting there $$$$ than doing there job. So because they can't get paid up front, my animal has to suffer. And the receptionist has the audacity to hang up on me.

Horrible experience! Will never go there again. I called before going to make sure of cost and make arrangements for paying. I was told I could write two checks. They also told me the highest amount for X-rays would be 240$. After arriving I sat in my car in parking lot for 2 hours. I arrived at 730 pm and was not taken in until 930 pm. At one point someone came out asked me what I was doing. I told them I was told to wait in my car and that I was waiting for them. She said she would go find a room and return. Never saw her again. Later a lady came out and said I could go in. After seeing the doctor, he determined that my dog did need X-rays. He told me he’d get a cost estimate. The nurse came back and told me the X-rays would be $239.40. Since the max amount of X-rays were supposed to $240 and my dog is a small 15 lb dog, I asked why. Nurse said she didn’t know. They also wanted to prescribe my pet very expensive pain meds. One med was 50$ The total would have been 450$. I decided that since I had been told I could write two checks I was going to go ahead with it even though it seemed way more expensive than I had been told on the phone. But nurse said I wasn’t allowed to pay that way. She said she would check with doctor. He said no pay all or I could borrow a check from someone. Completely a weird thing to suggest. Then they wanted me to at least buy the pain meds which were overly expensive without knowing what was wrong with my dog. If I give him pain meds, I run the risk of him injuring himself more because his pain is masked. I chose to leave knowing I now had to call my regular vet on Monday and start all over. I had to pay 105$ for absolutely nothing just to be able to leave. I called before I went to make sure I could pay and I called when I arrived as instructed. I live an hour away one way. I was treated like I was causing them difficulties. When I tried to explain what was said on the phone, they repeatedly interrupted and became argumentative. I was never given the opportunity to be heard and never treated with respect. When I said I didn’t want to argue, one of the nurses got in my face and said, “I’m trying to help you. And asked how much I could pay tonight and when I’d pay the balance.” I told her and I thought we were ok, then she said no, we are not doing the X-rays. We just want to give you pain meds. I paid the 105$ and left. Got no help at all and now have to pay another vet to start all over. Complete waste of my money and complete unprofessional treatments and humiliation to be talked to as if I’m causing them trouble. I left in tears of sadness for the pain of putting my little dog through all that discomfort of being examined and the pain of spending 100$ on nothing and for wasting all the gas and time it took to drive there. Never ever go here.

We are from out of town and our puppy started having seizures out of no where. We brought our pup to the pet emergency center and they took very good care of our boy. Amazing service and no outrageous prices. Every person we interacted with at this facility was very caring and knowledgeable.

I want to start this off with saying thank you to the amazing people who tried to save my puppy’s life. Lilly was an amazing puppy and I wish they didn’t have to meet her with Parvo. She was such a playful bouncing bundle of joy. I appreciate you guys so much for trying to save her life. I appreciate the late night phone call of her trying to drink water on her. The staff was so kind and understanding. The dr, (I can’t remember his name) was such a nice man and very easy to talk to. I could hear it in his voice it wasn’t easy for him to tell me Lilly passed. I appreciate the time you spent with her to try and keep her alive and I appreciate the time you took to make the phone call that she had passed away. It’s not easy for me to write this review as I’m crying my eyes out. I had Lilly cremated through pet emergency as well and they gave me such a beautiful keepsake box and a paw print of her beautiful little paw. Thank you guys so much!

Hands down the best place to take your pet in an emergency when all the other vets clinics are closed! They not only saved the life of my 12 year old cat with a severe case of pancreatitis, but they did so with compassion and gentleness. I knew she was getting the best care possible and that was a comfort to me in such a difficult time. It really is amazing I was able to bring my beloved pet home again! Thank you to each of you who cared for my little girl!

I can’t say enough positive things about the team at Pet Emergency Center. My dog Scout had been feeling poorly for a few weeks but our primary vet kept reassuring us that she was okay and would pull through. Last weekend Scout rapidly declined and needed to be seen immediately. Dr. Montross took the situation seriously and treated Scout with such care and compassion. I’ve had negative experiences with pet hospitals in the past and my worst fear was that Scout would die alone in a cage. Thankfully, Dr. Montross and her team kept regular communication with us and updated us not just on her physical health but also her affect (“she got up to greet the vet tech. She chewed on her bunny toy this morning.”) They were so reassuring and I could tell by their tone that they were invested in Scout as well. They were also SO patient with us and didn’t seem to mind us calling (multiple times at all hours of the night) to check in on Scout. Special thanks to Tyler who fielded calls not just from me but Scouts grandparents as well (can you tell how loved this dog is?) I’m so happy to report that Scout is doing well, currently fast asleep on my legs. Thank you, thank you, thank you, you all are lifesavers (quite literally).

Only go to this place of you know someone, otherwise you'll realize immediately your pet is not important. They act like they have all day to socialize. I've spent enough time & money here. But only because I had no choice the last few years. Good luck to you, though. If this is your only choice, go there, of course. There's a new place now though. Search your options.

Wonderful!! Dr Ellingson did emergency surgery on our dog December 23, 2020. We werent sure if he would last even a month but he is going strong 4 months later. I highly recommend Pet Emergency Center and Dr Ellingson and staff on Reserve Street.

One would think they would be willing to take a forearm until the 2 legs and arms could be given. No heart. Dang covid, makes everyone greedy.

I brought my beloved Brandy into this clinic late last week, and everyone involved was so kind and caring... Each staff member I dealt with, couldn't have been more compassionate. Brandy had a sudden and unexpected illness, and they did everything they could to save her. I received several calls from the Vet updating me... I prayed so desperately for God to save her, for about 3 hours. And, I cried and begged God not to take her. At one point, I received another call from the Vet, and we discussed how long they should do CPR, before it wasn't fair to Brandy, and it was decided another 10 minutes. The Vet also felt I needed to hurry in, so I could say goodbye. At that time, I got out of the vehicle and prayed, only this time I gave it over to God, and asked Him for His Will for Brandy, because I knew He would do the right thing for her... Within a minute, the Vet called me and gave me the news. I believe God was just waiting for me to give it to Him... When I arrived back at the clinic, I was let into a room with Brandy. I stayed and held her, and cried and told her I loved her so much. The vet tech told me to take as long as I needed to. She was so good and kind, and her compassion was unmatched. I would recommend this clinic to anyone with a sick or injured pet. They did everything they could, to save Brandy. I could feel the love they have for animals, and that they will do all they can to save them. I just want to thank everyone at this clinic for helping Brandy, last Tuesday/Wednesday night, and for taking such heroic measures to save her life. After speaking with the Vet, with what was going on with Brandy, it would have been very hard on her, had she survived... I believe God knew what He was doing when He took her home. Again, thank you, and bless your hearts for all you did.

I took my precious cat in to see Dr Ellingson around 8pm as we found her with a bloody eye and misshapen nose. Emily, Erik and the Dr all talked to me at some point. They were caring, professional and efficient. While I had to wait in the car due to Covid concerns, they kept me informed about her treatment and had her ready to go home rather quickly. I have taken other pets there in the past and would not hesitate to call on them in the future in the unfortunate event of a fur baby emergency.

We had to take our 6 month old pup in for stitches late and not only were they quick to answer but they listened to me. Didn’t hurry me along and actually took the time to hear me out. After my dog went in and needed stitches they were quick and he wasn’t in a lot of pain or more pain afterwords. Definitely will bring my animals here again if ever there’s an emergency!

We have used the Pet Emergency Center several times for our 3 corgis. We have had a couple of GI infections, a possible broken leg and the worse, our older girl was mauled and almost killed. They stabilized her and referred me to a speciality clinic in Bozeman for further surgery and treatment. I can not speak highly enough about this clinic and the staff, their professionalism and competence. They are truly a caring group. I am an equine veterinarian and life long dog owner so I have a lot of experience in the profession and the Pet Emergency Center is one of the best I've been too. Thanks!

My border collie had an emergency this morning, throwing up, extremely distressed, etc. Took him to Pet Emergency Center. Called the phone number on the door repeatedly. Verizon message - "there is no one available call back later". Another vehicle was also there waiting, two employees of the facility came out, spoke with her and ignored us. My dog passed away in the car while sitting in front of this facility trying to reach someone. I will never use this facility nor recommend it to anyone.

It was a Sunday, busy, and we were third in line. Tyler kept me up to date, apologized for any delays, and got us care as soon as he could. Our pet was terminal, so the whole situation was horrible and emotional. Through it all...and even after...these folks (who didn't even know me) treated me like friends would. They even sent a very kind card along with prayers for our family. Losing a pet and loved one is not easy. The staff couldn't have been kinder to us and I will always remember that.

Being from California we were not sure where to take our Flat Coat Retriever, we are glad we selected PEC. They were friendly and knowledgeable. In just a few minutes our Lilly was diagnosed, given some meds, now we can head back to California for a follow up with our home town vet. The PEC vet was kind and certainly my us feel confident that she will be okay for the trip home. Great job to team PEC.

We have a cat which we have affectionately nicknamed "Boat", just like an actual boat owner knows that owning a boat often means to "Bust Out Another Thousand" when things go wrong. Boat loves to procure the most abstract illnesses, and of course she does so late on the weekends when the regular vet isn't open. Her most recent deal was a very abcessed and infected gland on her backside, which required a lancing, drain, and e-collar for three days. While our wait time here is often pretty long because usually Boat isn't at risk of dying immediately from most of her illnesses, everyone that works here is friendly and helpful, and they don't mind checking Boat out even if it might be something dumb or silly if we're concerned about it. Also, you haven't really lived until you've spent your entire weekend babysitting a drugged cat with an e-collar and a drain in her backside 24/7 in shifts with your significant other for three days straight. She was awake for the first 30 hours straight until she finally figured out how to pass out in the cone - or maybe just finally passed out regardless of it, who knows. Two months later she's just peachy, but I'm sure we'll be back on another Saturday with a similar issue, and we'll be back at this place when we are.

This is the second time I needed to bring a dog to this vet. Our little corgi was hit by a car and we had to rush all the way from Hamilton. But within 5 mins of getting Potato through the door they immediately started working on her. I feel a tiny bit bad cause there were many other patients but I'm so grateful they saved her! They're always calm and thoughtful when they talk to animal parents. They're reasonable, realistic and understanding. Never pushy. They welcomed us to call and check in anytime we wanted. I wish there was another emergency clinic in Hamilton but we're so fortunate to have this place in our community!

My cat, Ducky, had been noticeably constipated for a few days. I was planning to bring him in to his regular vet this morning but last night he suddenly was in pretty bad shape- moaning and hissing randomly and straining to use the litter box repeatedly. He’s my best bud so I immediately brought him over to the Pet Emergency Center around 9pm. Of course my phone was dead as well but everyone I encountered from start to finish was so professional and kind. Ducky’s problem wasn’t life-threatening so I was more than happy to wait while they addressed the needs of other animals that had it worse off. Very thankful something like this exists in Missoula. Emergency care is emergency care so I was happy to pay for their services. For whatever reason people are so quick to condemn an emergency vet for “price gouging” but chalk human ER prices up to “the cost of being an American”. Don’t listen to reviews spouting skepticism about the pricing. These guys are great and worth the money for emergency care. Happy new year!

We were on our way through town on a 5-day road trip moving across the U.S. On the first day of the trip, our German shepherd, Atticus, got attacked by another dog. Because of his thick coat, we didn't realize the damage done until the wounds started getting smelly and infected. My partner took Atticus to the emergency center late at night and they quickly took care of the wound. They took spectacular care of him and were really comforting to my partner. Being in a strange town far from home, this kind of care is what you hope for if something happens. We are so thankful for your staff and your careful attention. Thanks again!
