Rude staff! I brought a dog here that I caught running on W Meyer Rd. He had a collar but no tags, so I brought him to this animal hospital to see if he was chipped. The staff (especially receptionist) was very rude and acted like me being there was an inconvenience to them. Shouldn't these people care about animals?

First impression of the office: outdated. I felt like I stepped back into the 90s. The receptionist wasn't extremely friendly and didn't look at me much while talking to me. The vet never introduced herself Shewas rude and stand-offish. She looked at the ground while I spoke to her. She didn't know how to read my dog's file from the previous vet and was annoyed that I had to call that vet for clarification. The whole experience was very unprofessional and I will not be returning.

I have been going to Gateway Veterinary since 1996 . Marylynn has always taken the time to listen to what ever the issue is about my little dogs. She is very thourgh and takes time to explain things. Which I like. Thank you everyone at Gateway Veterinary, I appreciate all you do. From your mail lady Donna ????

Is a great place to take your pet. If you just need shots she doesn't charge office visit. Also cheaper if you pay cash

They always take very good care of our animals and supports us as pet owners. They're much more reasonably priced than surrounding vet clinics and easy to get in and out of with appointments.

After seeing that someone else experienced the same feelings as I did, I felt it necessary to share. I called yesterday to ask about a pony we had rescued. Long story short our actual Vet told us our male was most likely a gelding but they couldn’t get a good feel because they were locked in a pen for months without human contact and they said she most likely wasn’t pregnant but her belly was getting bigger and bigger and since we’ve never had ponies, only horses, I just wanted to make sure she was at least healthy or confirm she wasn’t pregnant again. I got to speak to Dr Fink herself and she was so rude to me. She said “we’ll if he doesn’t have testes then he can’t reproduce” hmmmm...Duh?! When she spoke to me like that I hung up and waited for my vet to call me back...she is currently filling with milk and should foal any day now...Dr Hinson at Union Vet Associates called me after dinner and walked me through everything and said he’d help if needed. The best vet I’ve ever had! HE IS AMAZING! I wish I would have seen the review where they said this happened to them as well...it is just difficult to understand why someone in this field would speak to someone the way she did. I’ll be looking into Mid Rivers Equine as a alternative vet to Dr Hinson.

Dr. Finke was up front with me about my dog and I like that. Dr. Finke has been taking care of my animals for 16 years and I wouldn't take my animals anywhere else. She saved my cat last year and we were so grateful. She is very reasonable in prices as well.

I went to Dr. Finke on 11/21/19 to get my 15 year old cat who was suffering from stage 4 kidney failure put to sleep. when we got there, the receptionist/vet tech put us in a room. We were the only ones there, and we sat for 20 minutes before the Dr.Finke came in. we heard her tell the vet tech that there was a stalled car on the highway, that's why she was late. wouod have been nice for her to call and let someone know. When Dr.Finke started to try and shave my cat's leg to administer the shot, my cat got upset, so the vet tech held her down forcefully against the table while Dr. Finke tried to get her leg shaved. Of course my cat got freaked out, and started growling and hissing. Dr. Finke was more worried about getting scratched by my cat's "long claws" than she was about the comfort of my cat. When she got my cat's leg shaved, she administered the shot, and my cat immediately passed away. At no time was my poor cat ever given a sedative to calm her down! I found out today that Dr.Finke doesn't sedate them unless you request it! What kind of a vet does this to an animal?!!! I now have to live with the treatment and trauma that more poor cat had to suffer through in her final moments. Dr. Finke and he vet tech are both rude and unprofessional. I would NEVER take another pet to her.

My cat went there for a shot once, the day after she developed an abscess on her neck where she had received the shot. It almost took her life. When I took her to another vet, they told me it was most likely because of a dirty needle. DO NOT take your animals here. The vet is also very rude. Disgusting.

I have been using dr. Marilyn Finke and Gateway equine vet for years, not just four horses but also for my dog Baron. Dr. Finke and her staff are true professionals, normally I am going in there for routine visits with my dog but on the occasions where I have had an emergency and had to ask dr. Finke to visit at my location she has pleasantly done so. I highly recommend using Gateway even if it's a little bit of a drive it is worth it.

Dr Finke truly cares about animals and will not bill you for unnecessary bloodwork, tests or whatever just to get additional fees. I trust her when it comes to making the most important decisions for my pets and have for a long time. Do note - she will be blunt in saying that you *could* spend $2,000 for an operation but it probably more realistic to put the pet to sleep. This is why I like her, she won’t recommend dragging out the last year of a pets life in endless medication, pain, visits and money - she will tell you the best places to treat your pet though if you’re interested in some very very specialized surgery. (Which I did do once) She has been respectful when I’ve had to euthanize an pet. Her personality is different than many vet offices - don’t anticipate someone who is going to charm you, her gift is animals and that is who she connects with and you have the opportunity for your pet to be treated by.
