I've brought my dogs here several times. Everyone has always been friendly and professional. Our most recent visit here we got right in but it was also a true emergency.

I’ve brought my cat here a couple times in the last week for some health issues. The wait times were pretty long due to a hectic weekend but still. The staff and veterinarians here are fantastic. They give you updates by phone every so often during the day and you can call when you need one. They were informative and made sure my cat was well taken care of. Thank you so much!

After taking my precious kitty to another animal emergency clinic in O’Fallon, I was desperate to find ANYONE else to help her. I was ready to drive however far I needed. To my surprise and relief, THERE IS ANOTHER OPTION FOR EMERGENCY ANIMAL CARE IN MY AREA!!! Please please please! Bring your beloved animal babies to VSS! They were so kind, caring, informative, and amazing with my baby girl. When she was ready to come home, I was settling my bill and I had to have the lady double check because it was almost half of what the other place charged me for far less care and support. I cannot say enough about how kind the doctors were and how helpful everyone was. It makes me cringe to think about how different the outcome of this could have been had I had no other choice but to use that place in O’Fallon. Thank you to all who cared so well for my sweet baby girl ????

DO NOT GO HERE! Especially if your pet has something serious it needs tending to. Good chance it will be the last time you see your pet alive.

Had an emergency visit last night after our dog ate a bag of Halloween candy. Staff was compassionate and efficient with getting us in. I would especially like to thank Dr. Whiting, she was amazing in every aspect. Happy to say they did a great job and our baby was treated, sent home, doing much better and "temporarily on the naughty list".

I cannot recommend this place enough! My dog Rosie who is a very sweet girl got EXTREMELY nervous today when I took her in for an emergency visit. She was so nervous she nipped at the techs. (VERY unlike her) The techs and the vet all had so much patience and were very friendly. They helped me out and pointed me in the right direction to make sure Rosie stayed healthy! I cannot thank them a enough for the patience they had with her. She will be back to running around the yard with her brother in no time!

I love the staff at VSS West. They are caring and are concerned for you and your pet while providing great veterinarian care.Unfortunately, I have had to take my German Shorthaired Pointer twice in 6 weeks. They have been understanding and gentle with her each each time. The cost of care is reasonable and I feel like the treatment plans are also reasonable. Thank you for the wonderful care!

Outstanding! Specifically our vet tech we had named Tegan. I have a large breed dog (Mastiff Mix) , who is very scared of new people but even worse at the vet. It is always difficult when we take her to the vet because she is instantly judged on size and look. Tegan did amazing with her and was understanding that she isn’t a bad dog just scared. Tegan was compassionate, understand, friendly and efficient. Very grateful & highly recommended.

I took my puppy there last night and this was the best emergency vet experience I have had. They were kind, understanding and explained everything well and the cost was extremely affordable.

I don't have enough good things to say about this place, especially the staff. They got us in quickly and kept us updated. We had a pet emergency last night that ended up with us having to put our dog to sleep. It was unexpected, the staff and Dr. Scott were so awesome. They were so passionate and gave us all the time we needed. I cant say enough things about Dr. Scott, he was so kind and caring with not only my dog, but also with us. Thank you so much!

The worst. Ever. They killed our dog, tried to charge us for it. First off they charged us 1000 dollars to start operating on her. They also had her wait 2 hours before working on her. Then when she died. They tried charged us. Then my brother didn’t accept that and went off on them and ever since my brother went off on them they didn’t care our dog died and then had an attitude with us. They hanged up the phone while my mom was talking to them. THAT PLAVE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN. THEY DON’T have the people to trust with dogs. Rest In Peace Chloe!

This place is the worst place I have ever been to. The staff is completely rude and not friendly AT ALL. We arrived with our small dog vomiting blood and acting lethargic. We arrive and the front door is locked and said we needed to call for curbside service. I called them and let them know the urgency and that she was deteriorating. They did NOT care. They sat on the phone asking our name, address, email address instead of coming out and getting my dog to save her. I begged them to please take her. After a hassle a lady comes out of the door where I was standing and puts down a mask and said I needed to put it on before she would take my dog. She reached right next to me and sat it down but couldn’t take my dog?? You were just right next to me! They continued to be a hassle so I left. I was able to get my dog to a good vet and they gave her the best treatment immediately. This place is terrible. They treat you and your pet like a number there. They could care less about your pet. Do not take your pet to them. They should be investigated and shut down. I’m telling all of my friends and family to stay away from this place. You should do the same or it won’t be a good outcome.

We are unfortunately what you call, 'frequent flyers' at this animal hospital for our Saint Bernard Penny. She has had her fair share of belly problems over the last couple of years. We took her to VSS last night and they continually updated us with her condition, they gave us recommendations and tested her for a variety of things. They went above and beyond and gave us bland food to take home. They were just really thorough and thoughtful and sweet. Penny is doing great and I'm just really thankful to have VSS as a lifeline.

Spent an hour waiting in the exam room only to have a 2 minute exam for a bee sting on my dogs paw. Worst part is this place doesn’t disclose how much their service is until it’s time to swipe the card. If I had known it would have been $140, I would not have gone. When I told the lady at the front desk how unprofessional that is, she said they “try” to tell people over the phone how much it’ll be. She also said she’d call the police if I walked out without paying. Never coming back here again.

I took my Great Dane there because I suspected he had bloat. They saw him quickly and ran test and determined he did NOT have bloat (another emergency vet hours before said he DID and suggested putting him to sleep) VSS admitted him overnight and called the next day to come pick him up because he was doing MUCH better. They did drain his tummy but it had NOT flipped as the other place said it had. I am forever thankful to the staff!

My dog rex wasn't eating so I took him to the emergency vet where they figured he had eaten something, now I will say I wish they had caught his problem sooner but I don't believe anyone could have done anything quicker. His gall bladder was about to rupture and they put him in surgery right away, after surgery they let me see him and he needed another surgery as his sutures inside him didn't hold. They were able to successfully close his wound inside him and he is home with me today alive and well. The staff was all very nice and emphatic with me. Me and rex will forever be thankful.

This place is amazing. It was referred by another animal hospital and they took in my dog right away and did everything they needed to do. The doctor on staff called to keep us up to date every step of the way. Everyone is so compassionate and patient. I’m glad that we were able to take my dog here to get the best help he could receive.

They helped our almost 22 year old cat Big Boy make the journey from this life into the next. We were very sad to let him go but we had a good life together. The caring staff at VSS were compassionate and empathetic to our situation. I was given more than enough time with him to say good byes and hold him as long as I wanted. They really care and it shows in how they not only helped me but Big Boy too. This is a situation nobody wants to be a part of but they were there for us. When we need a vet I know who I will be coming to see. Thank you VSS.

This veterinarian clinic accepted our dog as a patient knowing that they did not have the proper equipment to help him. Their intention was to euthanize him. By their lack of immediate appropriate medical action, they almost accomplished that. They let his condition deteriorate further and did nothing to help the situation. Their website is a lie when they say they allow one person inside with the pet if it is in a dire life/death circumstance. They told us we could only come in if we put him to sleep. They refused to release him to us so that we could take him to a place he could get the help he needed. He was not properly cared for until he got to the main VSS clinic. If you care about your pet at all DO NOT waste your time and money at this clinic!! We lost our beloved dog. We want to prevent anyone else from having the same experience by the incompetence of this clinic.

Called receptionist per discharge instructions if any problems arise with my dying dog , i was returning a call to pick up medication for him and desired refill of anti nausea med as well. my pet was seen and underwent very expensive ultrasound ,evaluation blood tests , and told us he's dying of cancer only 8 years old ,devastating news .Callous phone receptionist refused to "bother" vets as it was" not time or cost effective ", she was demeaning and condescending as she claimed there should be more doses than clearly possible, explaining she was in error as I am medical professional of 30 years and understand dosages ,she became belligerent accusing me of swearing at her and claiming to barr any further business hanging up phone. Receptionists are first customer contact for a business and no action has been taken other than banning our further patronage. Rude, crass, abusive receptionist protected by someone ,don't need the abuse in a medical crisis.

5 stars. I brought my Akita to VSS West 2 nights ago (5/5/2021) for whelping complications. It was 2 am, my regular vet was not available and VSS was the only emergency clinic that said they could handle a possible csection that night and not more than an hour away. I admit I am skeptical of emergency clinics and the rating for this location made me nervous but i was very happy with our care at West. The woman who greeted us was nice and Dr. Black was WONDERFUL. We are super picky about our vets after breeding Akitas for 30 years. She was thorough in her evaluation, didn't rush us into surgery, gave us reasonable and logical options, even made a cd of our xrays for us. We were truly very grateful for her and the 24/7 facility. Thank you for taking great care of my girl ❤

My baby had surgery to have her tail amputated and to fix her nose for better breathing there 2 weeks ago. couldn’t have asked for a better doctor. Dr Roush was great. She called me before, during and after to check in. Very caring.

45 minutes worth of waiting in the parking lot for not very clear answers but a very clear bill for almost $300. Figured an itemized charge list would have been included with the paperwork they gave us at discharge but nope nothing. Will never use this place again.
