I would not recommend that you use this rescue because they will lied to you I called about a young adult male dog named Fenina over 3 weeks ago and they kept giving me the run around about him you see I'm on Disability and I have a dog now that is a registered service dog but he getting a little bit old and can't get around so I was trying to get another dog so I can get him trained to help me out with my seizure, PTSD, anxiety disorder, and depression but they said that I couldn't provide them with vet records and I gave them all the information that I had so someone else adopted him on the 13 of December but please don't use them because they don't want to help out people who is on Disability so please don't let us down

This sweet white puppy pit needs a good home. It was roaming around my home.

This organization is typical of why the city of Jackson is falling apart and I sincerely hope they do not receive ANY tax dollars from city residents because they are unresponsive and unhelpful. We have been trying to contact someone regarding an animal rescue for weeks. The temperature is dropping and these sweet puppies deserve a chance at a home. This shelter doesn't answer the phone, respond to emails, nor social media. It is as if they do not exist. The only responsive shelters are all in surrounding areas like Flowood and Laurel and they are clearly very sick of having to take on Jackson cases. This is typical of what life is like for Jackson residents. We have do-nothing agencies in the capital city and the true resources are in the smaller towns who feel absolutely no obligation to help us.

CARA has held a special place in my heart for years. So so many furbabies have found forever homes with their help. My home wouldn't be the same without my rescue.

Went to adopt a cat... after seeing the ones that they had online. They wouldn't let us come in, and said they had no cats for adoption.

A group of dedicated people that absolutely love animals. The kennels are all kept clean and the dogs are in great health. Please consider adopting an animal from this shelter!

Our rescue van was on a return trip to Texas when we broke down in Jackson. The kind folks at CARA stepped up to help us with the dogs we still had on board. We cannot thank you all enough for all u did for our crew and our dogs. We thank you and wish u blessings. The crew from CMC2 Rescue and Transport

They don't really want to adopt out any dogs. Better off going to a rescue outside of Jackson.

We adopted back in December but ended up bringing the dog back to CARA after a week. She attached our yorkie and left puncture wounds in him. We filled out the information for the adoption surrender, and told them we feel the dog would do best in a home with no children/pets. Well to this day they have not disclosed any information about the dog’s behavioral habits on their website. PLUS we already paid her adoption fee, due to not getting a refund or another pet. So her fee is paid, and that is not even disclosed either. It seems like they are trying to make money any way possible even if it means withholding important information. Just beware is all I can say.

What kind of place doesn’t want their kittens adopted to a loving home with three children who would be over the moon to have one of the kittens? We check all the boxes but still got denied. We live in a suburban neighborhood with a fenced in yard. Our home is clean and by all standards we are over qualified. DO NOT SUPPORT THESE WACK JOBS. DONATE TO MARL OR ANOTHER RESCUE! LITERALLY INSANE!!

If I could rate Cara more than 5 stars I would, 12/10. My boyfriend and I adopted a puppy from here and the staff was nothing but nice to us. They are amazing, super helpful, and made the process super easy! We are even going back to adopt another dog! We absolutely love them! You can follow Jaxson on Insta @jaxson.g_1209

Adopter beware!!! Lea Ann Craig from CARA has rules/requirements for potential adopters that are NOT disclosed before you fill out an application and pay them $10.00 to submit. I specifically asked before applying if there were any requirements before I applied. I was told I had to apply to find out. Really?? I filled out and paid to submit the application but was never told that I had ZERO chance of being selected to adopt since I don't have a physical fence surrounding my yard. I wasn't informed until AFTER I paid that I did not even qualify for adoption, regardless of applying or not. My plan is to install a wireless fence which most adoption agencies, and veterinarians, are perfectly fine with having for the safety of the dog. Lea Ann Craig (CARA) says she is "really not a fan of wireless fencing" and therefore my application, money, and time was worthless and wasted. I would bet the wasted adoption fee that I'm not the first person that's planned for a wireless fence. Especially a landowner such as myself who has acres of secluded land to let their pets roam on. It would be honest and forthcoming to notify the public beforehand that fencing for certain breeds of dog are required by Lea Ann Craig (CARA) for one to be considered for adoption. Not push people to apply before she tells you the rules and why you don't qualify regardless of submitted application and keeps your $10.00. Cha-Ching! Just because you stipulate that application fees are nonrefundable doesn't make it right to take people's money when you know the application may be garbage before they even fill it out. I would like my $10.00 returned as I received no product, service, or actual adoption consideration - which is what I paid for.

Almost as if they don’t want you to adopt their pets. For Christmas we were going to adopt one of their cats but we were declined because we didn’t take our Senior cat to the vet. We take our animals to the vet when they’re sick or something is wrong. Vet bills are expensive and we already own 3 other pets and can’t get them checked up on when something isn’t wrong. That’s a waste of money. No one can afford that. They’re very strict and won’t let you adopt if you want your cat to be outdoor or indoor outdoor. Don’t waste your time waiting a week for an application response. Adopt from a shelter that has animals in need.

We adopted our baby Nadia from here. We did have to bring our other dog, Cali, in to make sure they got along. The dog we originally picked did not get along with ours. I have to say we are grateful for all the steps we had to go through. They make sure the dogs are going to a great home with healthcare, loving people, and animals. We will definitely be adopting from them again. Christy and Nikki went above and beyond for our family in helping us find a dog to bring home. Would definitely recommend. Also, if you are wanting to adopt a dog, don’t be in a rush -they are definitely going to make sure they are going to a loving home and there are “steps” to take in adopting ♥️

I just went there to see precious Percy, everyone was so nice to me and my mother while I was there and put an application. I hope I get to see Percy again and to give him a great time and a good home. They took their time to explain how he was and also other dogs and gave good information. I had a good time and I was super excited! Loved it.

CARA is always closed everytime i go there. They are not giving the public a fair chance to see the dogs since there are ALWAYS close. They might as well close the business. This been years

Very good people doing God's work. I wish there were more people volunteering and more businesses helping out. These people are very carrying and all love animals. If you need a pet make sure to go there as they always have a few that are looking for a family. I stop there now and then and they always meet me with a smile.

This place is a JOKE. The building needs some serious maintenance and it’s as if they don’t want people to adopt out their animals. I came here years ago looking to adopt a DOG, that my whole family fell in love with, after our family dog passed away. But was denied because my outside Male CAT wasn’t fixed. We were heartbroken. Although I decided to give them another chance here recently but was denied once again because I have 2 toddlers. Wouldn’t even give us or the dog a chance to see how it acted around my kids. Once again heartbroken and was told to look elsewhere. I don’t think anything has ever disappointed me and my family so much. If I could give -5 stars I would.

Upon hearing of the mass destruction of their feline population I have lost respect for this organization. I am haunted by the cruel action they decided upon. They did not reach out to the public for help. I question their ethics as well as their actions.
