We feel so fortunate to have Lake Harriet Vet and Dr. Jim and Dr. Kathy as our vets for our Airedales for the last 20+ years. They run a top notch clinic! I can't believe how they find such a wonderful staff!! The other vets, the vet techs …

Love Lake Harriet Vets! Their office procedure is efficient and quick. I wish my doctors office took the same care with efficiency, transparency and overall care! They love animals and it really shows!

Our dog started having alarming GI and neurological issues a few months back. It seemed likely that it was caused by something she ingested, but we have always been very careful with what she eats due to her severe allergies. Bloodwork was done and showed nothing of concern. LHV didn’t do a thorough exam of her in their care, but instead asked us if we had marijauna in the house; saying her symptoms lined up with ingesting it. We told them absolutely not a chance it could be that. The Vet said “okay” and left it at that saying if she continues to have these episodes to call them. It happened a couple more times, and we thought maybe it was caused by the fluoxetine she takes. When we called back we were questioned about having marijauna in the house again, obviously not believing we were being honest the first time they asked. Being accused of causing her suffering left us confused and upset. Grasping at straws, feeling hopeless and like we were somehow at fault we requested a lower dose of her fluoxetine, and it was left at that. We eventually slowly got her completely off the fluoxetine and while she became quieter, her GI issues had gone. Suddenly a couple days before Christmas she had trouble eating, and was experiencing issues walking. Her lymph nodes in her neck swelled, and she couldn’t hold anything in. We had to bring her to U of M emergency veterinary because LH couldn’t get her in. After her assessment the veterinarian came out and said she highly suspected our dog had aggressive lymphoma, and that they could keep her the night to help with the fever and GI issues and to see an oncologist the next day, but her prognosis wasn’t good. Every lymph node she could feel was enlarged; meaning it was advanced and had spread through her entire system. We talked about ending her suffering, and the veterinarian agreed that it was the most humane thing to do at this stage. We euthanized her at 11:00 pm December 23rd. The quality of care Lake Harriet gave her was deplorable. They chose to believe that we were dishonest without doing anything more than a blood panel, or considering there could be more going on with her. After explaining her symptoms had continued they were accusatory, and didn’t want to see her again. Our dog was dismissed due to a narrow way of thinking, and being too patient overloaded to invest any further time into changing that mindset. We now get to relive these memories every Christmas.

We see a variety of Vets at lake Harriet and have always have had a wonderful experience! Our fearful pittie Kimo was always calm and loved t go see any and all staff always felt safe and secure there. Leilani doesn’t like to be touched, but she loves the attention she gets from everyone there . They always look forward to their visits!

We’ve been clients for the last 7 years - we take both our dogs here. Can’t say enough about the staff and service. We’ve had nothing but compassionate, excellent care!

Just took my dog here for the first time. Easily the best vet we have ever been to. The appointment went quickly, they were so friendly, knowledgeable and I thought the pricing was more than fair. So glad to have found them!

I love Lake Harriet vet. I know when I bring my dog in for anything which ails her she will be treated with kindness and receive the kind of care she deserves. I love the fact they keep a percentage of their available slots open for emergency visits so we don't have to spend hours/ days/ weeks worrying about what might be wrong with our furry friends. I highly recommend.

Great vets here, but it is impossible to get an appointment for urgent care. They usually are booked a month out or more. If you are looking for a vet that can accommodate at-need appointments, this is not the place. We use this vet for annual checkups/shots, but the U or M is much better for at-need appointments.

So incredibly patient with my overly anxious and fearful little guy. I know just how difficult and frustrating of a patient he can be, so I’m so appreciative of all the extra time and care they take with him. We’ve been at vets in the past that automatically label him as “aggressive” at the vet, which means they prepare for battle when they see him instead of coming in with compassion for his fears. I don’t ever feel like he’s been labelled as the “bad dog” here though. There’s been so much compassion towards him. I trust the vets here wholeheartedly! I always feel like I’m given the full story of what kind of additional tests or procedures need to be done and what isn’t needed. I remember the first time Cosette came in a few years ago and you brought out a towel with Feliway spray on it for her exam. She’s a fairly easy going patient, but it was still such a kind thing to do for her first time. Thank you for all you do! :)

Our pets always get the best care and we always get really great feedback and advice from the Dr.’s when we take our cats to Lake Harriet Veterinary.

We've taken our pets to Lake Harriet Vet for 14 years. It used to be good. The last couple years, we have been told that our pets need very expensive tests to address their health concerns. We do the tests and we're told they will call us back for results and a plan and meds. They never call us back. Two weeks later, I call them for the results, plan and meds. I'm told I'm to make a vet appointment to address my pet's concerns. I tell them that we just had a visit to to do tests and now waiting to hear back about the results and prescribe any meds for infections, diseases and pain meds. They are insistant on us making another vet appointment to address our concerns and run tests. It becomes a very unnecessary fight from there. So, they take your money for a visit and tests and won't give you the results or address your pet's needs. This place has become a scam.

We have been going to Lake Harriet Veterinary for years. We are now starting with a new rescue pup and once again, the care was excellent and advice we got with a rescue was really helpful. THANKS!

Despite an all time high of Veterinary needs and incredibly overworked staff everywhere, Lake Harriet Veterinary is just amazing. I had to wait to get in, but the wait was worth it. My sweet pup had a year of dealing with urinary issues (mostly leaking while laying down). We were on other medication that wasn't working and didn't get many options on other things to do from my previous vet (who is a kind person, but just overworked and couldn't prioritize a non urgent issue). When I got in to meet with Dr Jessy, she was wonderful. She spent time with me and my pup, and gave me a path forward and 4 different treatment options to explore to move forward with process of elimination. Lucky for me, her first option worked and I am dealing with a pup who now does not leak on surfaces while laying down, she is happier and more playful and I couldn't be more grateful for the team at Lake Harriet Vet and Dr Jessy. In a time when Vets are overworked, overwhelmed and our world is a stressful place, I can't thank this group enough for the care and compassion they demonstrate.

The doctors, and entire staff, at Lake Harriet Veterinary are amazing. They cared for one of our pups from birth until the end, and handled every step with love and grace. They treated our dog as if he were their own. I highly, without reservation, recommend Lake Harriet Veterinary.

I had taken my cats to Lake Harriet Vet for at least 14 years, changed vets then returned because my cat needed dental surgery. Lake Harriet vets are very good with dental work. My cat had 17 teeth pulled due to a dental disease called resorption. He was under anesthesia for 4 hours and the cost of his surgery exceeded the estimate’s high end by $200. I had to make two phone calls, regarding his difficulty eating after surgery. Each time, I was told a vet would return my call that day but each time they didn’t. I called to speak to Wendy, the manager. She told me my expectations were too high, that vets can’t always call back and it was time I make a relationship with a new vet because I was never going to be happy with their service. I felt unheard and I wasn’t able to get needs met for my cat after a big and costly surgery. Lake Harriet lost the personal touch they once had before adding on to their existing space and bringing on more vets and front desk staff. It’s truly sad because it had been a one-of-a-kind place in the early years. A reminder of why I left in the first place. I do not recommend this clinic.

I was happy to have found Lake Harriet Veterinary a few years ago after moving to Minneapolis. All of the staff has been kind, welcoming, responsive, and most importantly attentive to my pet’s care and best interests. Over the past year my dog had some late-in-life hardships. Dr. Jen saw him during this period and she was extremely helpful in compassionately providing transparent information to help me navigate my options. It was nice to feel some extra comfort in making tough decisions, and also reinforced the feeling that my dog was in good hands.

We've had nothing but great experiences working with Lake Harriet Veterinary! I really appreciate and trust Dr. Nicole's integrative approach, looking at my pet's health holistically, but ready to recommend whatever treatment is most effective. And Jupiter, our French Bulldog loves the wonderful staff!

We absolutely love Dr Jessy! She is so kind and gracious. Can't be said for every vet.... and I've been to many over the last few decades from coast to coast.

Dr. Palmieri was wonderful. She new I was nervous for our first visit and she updated me multiple times by phone to tell me how my pup was doing. It's hard to tell how things are going when you can't go in with your pup, and mine hates the vet anyway, but he seemed calm and comfy when he came out. She examined him thoroughly and offered me several options to help him be more comfortable as it ended up he needs surgery for a leg injury.

Lake Harriet Veterinary is by far the best vet clinic I have ever used. I have taken my cats there for over 13 years. The doctors, techs and front desk staff are informed, intelligent and compassionate. I have never been steered wrong on anything they have ever advised me on. I recommend them to anyone.
