My dog has a torn dew claw. I have called several vets so far including our own to no avail. I was referred to Amvet in Elk River by another vet clinic. When I called I was told they would not see him because he isn't a client at their pet hospital. So don't call them if you are in need of an emergency as they will turn you away! And I might have liked them much better than where he goes to now and might have whiched if we would have been alowed to be seen there. I guess they don't know how to get new clients coming to them!

Best experience i've ever had at a Vet. Personable, knowledgable, kind and gentle with my puppy. I felt like I was important to them.

I've been bringing my dog here for care for the past 10 years. Dr. Gilgenbach and his staff know my dog and I by name. My dog actually likes going to the vet! Always fair with pricing, and they don't upsell or run tests that aren't necessary. State of the art equipment, nice people, fair prices, and a healthy pet. Even after moving 25 miles away, I still bring my dog here, I highly recommend Amvet.

I have been going here for year's. I started with my cat and then we got a dog. He is always there when we need him. Very helpful great advice. We are now starting with our third pet to visit. Wouldn't go to anyone else.

I have worked with this vet for 20 years with 2 dogs. Both of my dogs have/do pull me in the door. Excellent service, wonderful staff. I know my dog has the best in care. I know my vet better than I know my own doc.

This vet has a very strong idea of how he feels it is best to treat your animal. After allowing the vet to examine my dogs, we talked about medicine refills needed. The vet was willing to fill the meds for pick-up at the clinic, but I declined due to availability and pricing elsewhere. I had the vendor I chose fax in the request with no response from the vet office. I called the vet and was told they never received a fax, so I had the prescription request sent again. With no response I called the vet office again and was told their fax machine was out of toner so they were not receiving faxes. I asked for a phone approval as my dog is on a time sensitive medication. The vendor I chose to fill the medicines attempted to call the vet office and authorization was not given. I called the vet office and asked what was going on and was told the heart worm preventive medicine was not one the vet office uses so they would not authorize the request. For the record the medicine I chose was the generic for heart guard. In regards to the time sensitive medicine, I was told my dog needed a blood test for this medicine. Keep in mind when I scheduled the appointment, I told the office I needed this medicine filled, we talked about it during the visit, blood was taken, and meds were offered onsite for much higher. Three days after I visited the vet and spent $435 on three dogs, I received a certified letter in the mail indicating they would no longer provide care for my dogs. I inquired why and was told because one of my dogs growled and showed his teeth when the unsuaul practice for examining dogs took place required that dog to be muzzled. For minds wondering, this dog is an 11 year old border collie lab mix that has never been agressive before this experience. In all honesty I could have swallowed "we don't want to treat this dog going forward", but to not fill reputable medicines after paying for exams and having testing done is unethical. I also received the medical records for the dogs, and the records clearly indicate they received the medication faxes the day they were sent. This vet should have retired years ago, has horrible bedside manner, and will only work with you on medications if you have his clinic fill the medications. Steer clear of this vet and treat your fur children elsewhere

My uncle brought his dog here after a scare of rat poisoning. The doctor refused to look at Huxley, and let alone look at my dad or uncle. The doctor shrugged his shoulders and said, “I don’t know. Call someone else.” They walked away obviously contacting someone else for help. They would not recommend anyone bringing a pet they care about here.

Amazing service and wonderful tips on how to train your dog and make them more relaxed! My dog has been skiddish every since we got her and they really took their time making sure she was calm and saved us money by not using sedation like other vets! Dr. G was so down to earth and answered any questions we had! Will definitely be going back!

Doctor Gilgenbach is excellent with our animals, he's knowledgable and obviously cares about animals. His techs are very friendly and helpful. My family has been going to him for over 30 years and wouldn't have it any other way!

If you’re in search of a highly qualified, caring and down-to-earth veterinarian, look no further than AMVET, Dr. Gilgenbach and the excellent staff. I have only been a customer of AMVET for a short time, but no doubt, expect to be a patron for a long time to come. He is highly educated. The office is clean, well designed and nothing short of a spectacular sight to see. He speaks simply and eloquently and has an excellent sense of humor. All of this means nothing without excellent pet care, and in that, he and his staff do not disappoint. Everyone at the office I’ve had the pleasure of encountering, have been spectacular and obviously put pets first and have been very cordial and personable as well.

Amvet is a great place to bring your pet. We went there for the first time today and it was a very clean place with very friendly staff. Gentle with your pets and a fair price. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

I have been taking my dogs and cats to Amvet for over 25 years. Dr. Gilgenbach and his staff are focused on providing the best care and life for the animals. I have had several pets that needed special care over their lives, and I know that their lives were extended by his care and concern. He also excels at both the nutritional and behavioral needs for my pets.

Have been going to Doc ever since we moved here in 1998. He has always been a very good vet and he has fixed every single problem my Westies have ever had. The prices to me seem comperable to any other fully accredited AAHA hospital. AmVet is a fully accredited AAHA hospital. American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) is well-known for its high standards in veterinary practices and quality pet care. An AAHA hospital has an onsite pharmacy can take xrays. I recommend AmVet to everyone.
