Thanks to Northland Spay/Neuter we got all of our kittens fixed up before they ended up multiplying on us! Our regular vet couldn't get them in for months, and I was really concerned about ending up with more kittens. And the price was affordable.

I brought my 5 month old kitten here to be spayed, chipped, and vaccinated. She passed away two days later. Her incision looked great. I know it's around the holiday, but they told me through email that a Dr. Schilling would call me and they haven't. No one responded when I asked about a refund either. Some of the staff were nice when i was there, but it was not organized at all. I kinda wish I wouldn't have taken my baby here and maybe she would still be alive.

Make sure to be on time for your animals appointment! Only so many people are allowed in the building at a time to register. Quite a few people were lined up outside waiting their turn to get in. The sign on door says to "leave your pet in the car until you have registered. " This is due to the cold temperatures and having to wait outside. Other than that everything went well. The staff are nice and seem to know what they are doing.

For many pet owners, our pets are like children to us....especially if you don't actually have children. Because of this many pet owners tend to worry in the event that their pets need a procedure no matter how big or small... When I read the reviews of other owners I see the reactions of some very scared people...this is somewhat... normal human emotion... Today my dog underwent anesthesia and I (myself) was a bit nervous and would have loved to be able to call and check in... However, I can tell by the thorough aftercare instructions provided by the young lady at the desk that our pets are in loving hands. Woodford is doing great and I would recommend this clinic to others. This is a great effort being put forth.... We all need to be patient and understanding.

I love the organization itself, but it's degrading to have to stand outside like cattle for up to an hour to drop off your pet to be taken care of. Then what is worse, they SHOUT the aftercare directions outloud on a busy road. Not only is there a ton of people staring and rubbernecking, but you can't hear them and I would assume the aftercare of a beloved pet is important enough to be discussed professionally than shouted at while you stand outside in 15 degree weather with diesel trucks roaring beside you. The set up is horrid. About 25-35 people show up waiting to be checked in at once, and they take care of you individually then you go back to your car (there's minimal parking because our mayor thinks having bike lanes in Northern Minnesota is needed instead of decent parking) and grab your pet who has now been sitting in a crate for about an hour. I understand the lack of veterinarians, staff, etc. but their website even says they aren't hiring, so either they don't have funding for more people or they haven't updated their site to gain attention of those wanting to help. Again, the organization is wonderful and they have a good meaning behind it. But whoever set this up needs to actually go through it one time and then realize it's unorganized, extremely stressful and highly inappropriate, especially since the prices are just as high as the normal vet's office now so as deceng paying customers, we expect better and honestly, the staff deserves better too. No one wants to go outside in the cold to shout up to ten minutes word for word aftercare instructions. I believe that having people stand outside of a low income veterinarian clinic in a line designed almost like a soup kitchen is degrading, especially when we don't even get the common decency to be spoken to privately about aftercare procedures. (I will say they do call you up and tell you about your pet at the end of it when you pick them up, but the staff are so overwhelmed and stressed that they just want to move to the next person and be done.) In no way is this meant to discourage people going here. It's hopefully a wake up call for the organizers to really hear what we go through. Even with COVID, vet clinics still offer courtesy and professionalism.

They tell you to be here at a certain time to pick up your dog but it takes almost an hour to pick up your dog. You sit in a waiting room with a bunch of other people. Who are there to pick up their dogs as well. All because nobody scheduled anybody at different intervals to come. They are rude. I do not recommend them.

I have taken countless animals to this place for spay and neuters and they are great. I've never had a problem but sometimes you need to be patient and persistent. My regular vet books 3-6 months out for surgery so that's why I always go here. I think the staff deals with Karens frequently so read the paperwork it will make you're life easier! This a gem in the Twin Ports so if you guy want affordable pet care to continue don't be jerks to these folks and listen to what they have to say because they really do care and based on the post surgical reports I've had are very detail oriented.

Why on earth would you set up a drop off time for 20 to 30 people at the same time? I drove over 70 miles arrivimg 15 minutes early for my appointment and was not able to leave my pet after wating 45 minutes after paying the parkimg meter only to be told to get in line blocking traffic... Unsafe for people and their pets. I would never attempt to go here again. Get it together people. You put a lot of humans and animals in a very unsafe situation.

I filled out an on line spay request for my dog May of 2020. I never heard from them. They claim they called me but I never received a call. But they also had my email and never bothered to make contact through my email either. Now today, May 18, 2021 I was in the process of leaving a message asking “exactly how long does it take to get a response to a spay request”. As I was leaving the message, Faith, the receptionist, picked up. She claimed they attempted to call me last July. I told her I never received a call or email. She argued with me but she then said we could set up an appointment without a wait. She set the appointment for June 7th. I gave her a $50 deposit over the phone and told her I would be there today or tomorrow to pay cash in full. She explained that I was not to block the flow of traffic but I had to stay in my truck and call them when I got there and they would come out. I called when I got there and she said they’re not allowed to cross the street and I would have to come to the door. I did that. She gave me the paperwork to fill out in my truck. I asked her to figure a total for me for the spay and rabies shot and microchip while I filled out the paperwork.when I finished the paperwork, I went back to the door as another gal was helping someone outside, she allowed me to walk into the building. I gave Faith the cash, she gave me change. I asked for a receipt stating that I paid the balance. She said “I’m putting it in MY computer and you will get a receipt that says paid on the date we do the spay.” I said that I need a receipt that states I paid for MY records. I asked her to just write it on the bill she had already handed me. She stated she can’t do that, that it’s in their computer, as though some how that is going to cover me having proof that I paid cash. She was rude about it and then finally wrote paid on the receipt. But not before she started going off on me for ME being rude. Claiming my phone message before she picked up was “rude”...I wasn’t aware that asking exactly how long it takes to get a response from this business when it’s been a year since I initially inquired was being “rude”. I stormed out, she then called me and said they refuse to spay my dog and to come and get my money back. She refused to let me speak to anyone of authority. I am baffled at how I’M the rude one when she had been snippy with me all day for asking any questions. I understand that they are providing a great service but the attitude towards clients as though they are superior to us is not needed or good for business. Having Faith as the face of your business is not going to gain you any popularity contests. She was clearly already crabby before she took my call this morning and is taking her anger out on a prepaid client for what reason I have yet to figure out. When she called me back for me to pick up my refund, she was rude, yelling at me and then hung up on me. Claims I flipped her off, which I didn’t do. Personally I think she’s trying to cya because of her abhorrent behavior towards me from the get go. Faith needs to find a job where she doesn’t deal with the public. Clearly she has some personal problems that she’s bringing to her job and taking out on clients. Completely disgusted with her behavior. Update: I received a call from the main veterinarian, Tammy and she said she “stands by her employees”. I have since called Critter Care and spoke to their receptionist and she actually said I was a “delight to speak to and was looking forward to meeting me”. How interesting, when reception is nice and professional, you don’t encounter rudeness. I truly believe the Northland Spay Neuter Clinic is only still in business because they charge much less than other vet clinics. I would rather pay a little more money and be treated like a human being than to go here and be abused by reception for asking for a receipt to prove I paid them cash. If you care about your pet, don’t go to this business.

Rather than take people parked legally, in the order they arrived, they took late arrivals who were illegally blocking traffic first, so it was quite a wait if you arrived right on time. My dog also has some wicked razor burn that is bothering him more than the actual incision. Last time we brought a pet here, everything went really well, so I wonder if they're just overwhelmed right now. Hopefully things get more organized and our dog was just a weird exception with the crazy razor burn/cuts.
