I sat in the waiting room for 2 hours only to be told they were too busy to see my dog and I should go to an urgent care in prior lake. You got to be kidding me, what kind of animal place is this? I was referred to them by my vet.

I am able to keep my pet of 7 years because of South Metro Animal's extraordinary willingness to help, their knowledge and affordability and competence. They love my pet and she trusts and loves them. Their through medical findings from their-in home exam goes with them to my vet when they drive her to VET visits. I've used their service exclusively for 1-2 years.

My experience was something close to perfect, even though I lost my most perfect kittie, Mia, of almost 14 years. Everyone was kind, patient, compassionate, and efficient. They made a very sad experience easy and reassured me all the time I was doing what was right. Mia didn't have to suffer and I was able to say goodbye to her, taking all the time I needed. That was yesterday, I drove by today and blew a kiss to the staff and Mia.

Great people. Very caring. We are always treated with respect. My dog that eats salad dressing packets likes them very much. Thank you again

Excellent experience here! All of the staff was super helpful and kind. Performed an ACL and TPLO repair on my dog at a much more affordable price than most other locations I called. My local vet was impressed with the quality of work and the progress that my dog was making after her two week check up. Looking through the negative reviews on google it seems most people don’t understand what an emercency hospital is… there’s only so much staff available to help out and with all the “covid babies” purchased in the last year animal hospitals are extremely overwhelmed! I am thankful they recently started performing routine/scheduled surgeries as well and were able to help me out so quickly. Highly recommend!

Lovely service. Even in the middle of the night. They helped put my mind at ease in a stressful situation. More people need to understand that the veterinary field is very overworked at this time. Staff are tired. Be kind. Thanks for working hard SMAEC

Stay away from this place if you love your pet, or want decent care or anything that resembles acceptable customer service. Tortured our dying pet despite our request to not perform an examination, because we knew it would cause terrible pain. They ignored us and our requests, right up until the time she was euthanized. Please never go to this place! Please!

In September I had to put down my dog Chico who was aggressive.we did not know how to even get him into the building to do so but the staff was so patient with us and did not give up. That night was very rough for me and my boyfriend and the staff was amazing through it all.pretty affordable and they even sent us paw prints in the mail without us knowing they did so. Absolutely warmed my heart.definitely recommend this place.

After an online vet consult I was urged to bring my 2 year old Aussie in to be seen after he was vomiting and wouldn’t eat for 2 days. Of course, seeing an emergency vet is never a cheap experience but the staff was incredibly understanding and helped direct me in applying for a care card. Dr. Wasmoen was so kind and went through many different options for what could be happening and how we can go about treating his issue. After some treatment my baby is back to normal and eating again. There aren’t any emergency vets in my area so we had to drive 45 minutes but I wouldn’t trust my puppies with anyone else for emergency situations. Great staff with a lot of care for their jobs!

My entire experience was horrible. From the very first call the receptionist telling me about a 3-hour wait. There needs to be a better process for how waits are handled. From there the Vet did not have good bed side mater at all. He did not really take the time to listen, he was very aloof. After the x-rays showed my 7 month puppy had a more Serious break in the upper arm and would need a very costly Surgery or have his arm amputated was a lot to process. The doctor had said he would talk to me when I got there but he did not come out until I requested to speak with him. He appeared sleppy and tired. Instead I spoke with a very rude Tech that told me that if I did not want a three-legged puppy that she would take him! How RUDE when I'm trying to process everything!!! I don't even know her why would I ever give my puppy to her! The entire experience was horrible!!! I will NEVER go back there no matter how bad the emergency.

I was in need of emergency vet care for my cat who’s spay incision is possibly open and infected, and was immediately told they wouldn’t be able to see her at all without any consideration. I was told I could send pictures and they’d let me know if it was emergent or not so I did and sat by my phone waiting to get their advice on what to do next and never got any response back.

My puppy hadn't been doing good for a couple days over the weekend finally got worried enough to go to the vet, none of the vets were open in my town so I called south metro animal emergency a head of time to see my puppy, drove an hour to apple valley get there and get told they werent able to see him after waiting 3 hours. So I left fast forward Monday morning I get into a vet close to my town only to find out there was something seriously wrong with my puppy that required blood work and he had an extremely high tempature! Never will I go back to South metro animal emergency and nor will I ever recommend them to anyone. I wouldn't even give them 1 star but that's the lowest you can rate them

I came in in a Saturday afternoon with a dog who might have been exposed to blue green algae’s the staff said they had a full lobby but took the situation very seriously since dogs can die anywhere from 15-12 hours after exposure. They had me cal poison control and was able to get me in immediately to induce vomiting. They were able to see that he threw up algae and put him on fluids and gave him activated charcoal and check his liver and kidney levels and 3 days later he’s in the clear! Everyone is so nice and compassionate. I did have to wait quite an hour/two hours to get his blood work rechecked but there were some more critical cases, just like ours the day before, that needed immediate attention but they do the best they can.

After a vomiting episode late last night, I felt that Nova needed to be seen urgently. Calling around locally resulted in hospitals at full capacity but a recommendation to try South Metro Animal Emergency Care. We were seen by Dr. Bryan Birch and his team and we're so thankful. They were kind and gentle to Nova and explained every option we had with her so we could make a well informed choice. I personally felt that the price of our visit and the care we received was fair - my only gripe is that Nova's gotten a little chubby during the pandemic so she needed more meds than other dogs may have. :) I would most definitely recommend this place for emergency care and would use them again if need be. Thank you so much for helping us, South Metro Animal Emergency Care!

They were super friendly and got me in relatively fast when my cat was having persistent vomiting spells. I felt 10x better knowing he was taken care of.

I've had to take two dogs in for emergency services both needed to be suddenly euthanized due to age related illnesses. I was so grateful for their hours and services. The staff, all the staff, were so kind and compassionate. I can't say enough good things about this facility.

Don't bring your animal here, all they care about is your money, not the animals they are supposed to treat. Very overpriced!

I brought my dog Titan here two weekends ago and unfortunately I didn't get to bring him home with me. ???? The vet and team were compassionate, they treated him and I very well, they gave me time to say goodbye to him before and after, and didn't rush me out of the door. A week after they sent me a condolences card in the mail with stamped foot prints so that I could have those as a memory. ❤ Although it wasn't the outcome I had wanted, I know Titan was in good hands throughout our time there and I appreciate everything that they did for both of us. I would highly recommend their services.

I had a amazing experience at this location! My dog swallowed something and wasn't moving walking or standing! I got there at like 5pm and had to wait till 9pm to get seen. Once I got seen it was a quick process gave her medicine she was starting to feel better! The next morning she's back to normal! Thank you! (: p.s I didn't mind the wait just wanted my dog to get better!

Do call ahead to make sure they are open to new patients! they can also give you an estimated wait time. everything was thoroughly explained with options for evaluation and treatment. They were honest and upfront about potential costs, and ensured we knew to call back afterward if we had any questions or our dog had any changes. staff was so patient, understanding, and caring. It was clean and fairly priced. Thank you South Metro team for helping our Spyro!

So the people working in the lobby were great. Once we sat in the office with a veterinarian she made an assumption and said we should get pet insurance. It was her first time meeting my partner and I and never asked if we had and why we didn’t have pet insurance. I don’t know if she said this due to my ethnicity and assumed we couldn’t pay but it came across as discriminate. Which I hope that wasn’t her intentions. This incident left a dry taste in my mouth about this place of business. After5 hours of waiting the X-rays we’re taken on my pup and nothing was found, and with in a day he had carpet in his stool that finally pushed out. I think the anti-nausea medicine they provided helped our pup and he’s back healthy and safe.

My senior cat was presenting with a poor appetite and our regular vet (also a great place) couldn’t get her in for a few days. I contacted SMAEC when I came home from work one evening and saw she had stopped eating altogether. The receptionists, techs, and the doctor I had the pleasure of working with were all incredibly kind and had a calm way about them. They ran diagnostics, started supportive care, and got her feeling well enough to start eating again. I continued care at our regular clinic the next day, and I’m happy to say she’s doing great. Whatever the outcome may have been, I’m grateful for all their help. (Also thankful for their tremendous care despite my cats spiciness during her stay.) Would recommend!

Had something going on with my cat that I’ve never seen happen before, got really worried and called to see if she would be okay until morning or if it’s something urgent. The lady I spoke to on the phone was very informative and helped me calm down seeing as my cat was okay and could wait until morning. Very friendly and informative staff! Thank y’all

We had the very sad realization after several agonizing days that our senior cat was going downhill fast, and we didn't want to wait until she was suffering more, so we had to put her to sleep. Since it was the 4th of July our regular vet was closed, and we had gone to South Metro years ago the last time we went through this, so that is where we went. My husband was made to feel like a criminal, with several different staff asking all kinds of questions about our kitty's health, diagnosis, etc. Really? They made a tough time even worse. We tortured ourselves over the decision, and to have staff there, who didn't even know our cat, question us, and make my husband feel like he was doing something wrong?? Maybe you need to do a little better job helping people through a bad time instead of grilling them and making them feel worse. We love our kitty so much, and did what we thought was best for her - one of the hardest choices we could make. Hopefully we have MANY years before we would go through this again, and when we do we will NOT go to you.

Sure it’s not emergency care if one has to wait in their car for over 3 hours. And to not even come outside to check how those who are waiting are doing, if their pets need anything (WATER!!!!!)? Your establishment is garbage.

I can’t not say thank you enough, they were so quick in seeing our dog and they were very professional and knowledgeable as they walked through the emergency treatment options that we had. Because of there amazing care or fur baby is back home and healthy again.
