Doctors are great!! Pricy, but your pet is part of the family, too.

Way too expensive for my budget. Not to menton anytime I have inquired about their services you can never be seen unless you are willing to wait months no matter if it's an emergency issue.

Was told my cat had nothing wrong after waiting 2 1/2 weeks to get in. Then my cat was loaded with something (I'm not a vet) 3 weeks later. Didn't want to wait or pay again. Just wanted to bring in the hair with the problem, they said no needed a new appt. That was after the first receptionist hung up on me. I called back asked for a manager was given a practicing manager. Whatever that is! Now my cat has to suffer itching because of their mistake. Not going back!

We used to take our dog here before she past away because the doctors here choose to disregard her prior health record. They did not want to continue their treatment plan on her which worked for helping my dog. Even though they new her history from the year prior. Said to bring her back if we knowtised any changes. When we saw changes it was to late. Took her an affiliated emergency clinic who confirmed it was the same issue and said that bansfield should have addressed it. Let us know they did all they could for her. Cost us a lot of money because bansfield was closed and we had that useless plan. Save your money for a real vet that cares Bansfield does not. By the way with their plans they are always trying to get to get additional things that are not covered in the plans. So trying to penny and dine you. I tried to contact this location and corporate neither one of these places will return our phone calls. they did not even apologize about our dog passing. First thing the store location said is we are not paying. They were rude and not compassionate in anyway. Corporate was supposed to call us back 8 months ago to talk about the doctors not doing what was right for our pet knowing her past medical history. STILL WAITING! THIS PLACE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR PETS WELL BEING. ONLY MAKING MONEY. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND BANFIELD TO ANYONE! Update it is very funny that the tell me to reach out to the customer advocate line. I already did the a few days after the incident! They said they would follow up after investigating. I am still waiting for that phone call. You guys as a company do not care what is best for our pets. You care about making money. Also you corporate advocate lime is a joke. This Banfield location has some very rude Managers and Doctors. Bottom line Banfield you refused to continue the treatment plan you came up with for our dog that worked the first time she had the same issue and now she passed away. UPDATE August 2019 still waiting for client services to care enough to us call back. Almost a year later now. Very unprofessional. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. they do not care about them just making money sadly. Update. Still no callback... 01/07/2020 UPDATE 05/25/2021 Still no update or callback. Call me back

Idk was under impression when I signed up for this pet insurance that I could use them wherever I was. I travel a lot and my dog is esa. So far my dog had only used banfield in Colorado. Recently I was in Michigan and ran out of my esa medicine so I called the closest banfield to me in Detroit mi to get a refill. I was told I needed to call Colorado and get the vet to fax permission for them to refill my esa medicine. Just a lot of trouble to go to on top of the stress of traveling. I'm giving 3 stars because I was either misinformed or this should have been unnecessary considering banfield is pretty much nationwide and should have they're information interlinked..

Sam, Melissa and Dr. Feeney are the 3 I usually deal with. Every time is a positive experience. You can tell they genuinely care for our pets. Overall happy with the care my Aussie receives, and love that even though we can't go in and be there for the whole appt. i can shop in the store or surroundings stores. If I need to hangout in the area.

I have used Banfield for fourteen years and I have been blessed with very talented vets. Over the years, I have "switched" to other "big name" vets in the downriver area, and each time, I have gone back to Woodhaven Banfield. There have been times where I have not liked "this or that" and have tried others. When I see some of the negative comments, I empathize and feel your pain; however, I have yet to find a more caring group of individuals. These people love the animals and to even suggest that they don't, makes my blood boil. My babies have had issues. Skin issues, bladder stone issues, eye issues, etc., and the most devastating issue, congestive heart failure...which took the life of my precious love. At the time of the death of my boy, we were going to another veterinarian. The entire situation was incredibly painful for me, and due to the fact that this other office didn't even contact me to see how we were doing, sent me back to Banfield. The Banfield Woodhaven had staff sent me a card filled with love messages for my precious dog. He wasn't even their patient at the time. My boys...all of them...love Banfield. They are not afraid to go, and even run in the door. Trust me...When the time comes to say goodbye...you want them to be at peace and know that they are going to a place that loves them and knows them so they are not nervous. Yes. I drop my babies off and pick them up because that is how they do things...especially with COVID. I am okay with that because they get to know my boys. As for the doctor's qualifications, Dr. Keranen is well-trained. She graduated from the MSU Veterinary College and she is more recently trained. Due to the age and problems of my pets, she has referred them to a specialists. We go to MSU. If your animal is having issues, MSU is the place to go. I know Dr. K. does the research and has the contacts to find out more at MSU. Now, on to the financial aspects of the pet plan. I've tried it both ways and have found that the pet plan works for us. I am using the plan for 3 dogs. Yes. You pay for services not included in the plan, and you have the right to say no, or go to another vet, like MSU, to have the tests done. I went to another downriver vet and paid outright for an annual physical, shots, etc. I went back for an ear infection shortly thereafter. I paid for the office visit. I paid for the ear swab and results. I also paid for the medicine. It adds up but it sure is up to you if this doesn't work for you. For me, it works. There are many times when people write negative reviews and they are upset. We also have our own pet insurance. I got that after losing my boy to CHF. Before you threaten a business on social media, I sure hope that you never ever ever are faced with someone destroying you using social media. Certainly, if you feel that your pet has been damaged, you should seek legal counsel, but remember, everyone makes mistakes. I look at the overall picture and would never ever blame this office for my dear boy's heart disease. He had the disease before we left Banfield. Or, my boy's fatal gall stones. I get it because I wanted to blame someone for the premature death of my 12 year old Shih Tzu, but it will never ever be this staff. They have diagnosed every single issue, from the heart disease, to the stones, to the blind eye. Ultimately, no one could save my boy. Not the downriver vet, not Banfield, not the emergency vet, and not even MSU. Like any doctor or person in any occupation, mistakes are made. If you never made one yourself, you are a far better person than me. My own sister took her dog to the best vets on the East coast. In spite of her efforts and money, her dog died of cancer that was not detected. Certainly, this isn't the place for everyone; however, I have nothing but good things and wonderful experiences from the entire staff at Banfield.

I have been taking my dogs to Banfield pet hospital for 10 years. That’s right, 10 years!!! I have recommended the plan and hospital to friends and family throughout that time as well. Sadly, the last few months the quality is such that I am afraid to take my dogs back to them. I’m very disappointed right now with the current team and the vet I have been dealing with is very condescending. I had to call for says before anyone answered. We are in the COVID-19 pandemic, so I assumed it was that, and my dog had an aural hematoma that didn’t seem to be bothering her. It took about 5 days to get in. For the last 6 years, my dog has a note on her chart that she cannot be seen by a male vet or vet tech. She has issues with men and it is not safe, but no one seemed to notice that important information and set me up with a male vet. When I arrived I was concerned and the woman at the counter said ‘well I didn’t see anything in her chart?’ Anyhow, she took her back and a few hours lat the vet called me ask me why I hadn’t brought her In sooner. He told me I should have taken her to another vet if no one was answering the phone? I mentioned to him that I pay insurance for my dog to go there and that we have been going to the same place for 10 years. He continued with his shaming, he said ‘there are several Banfield pet hospitals you could go the any of them’. My dog had an aural hematoma and she would need surgery but he couldn’t fit her in for a week. I guess it wasn’t quite the emergency he was saying it was. The next week he then charged me almost $800 to complete the aural hematoma. This did not include the anestesia. I’ve never had to pay anything this high, he charged me for scrubs and surgical masks?? That’s what he said anyways, but the itemized receipt they usually send did not mention any of this. In addition , upon discharge I was given NO instructions on how to care for my dog. They sent me home with medication for an ear infection, but no information as to what ear the medication was to go in and the dosage time number of days did not match up and I didn’t really have enough. After the surgery, We brought her home, and that night she barely slept and had a lot of anxiety. Banfield usually calls me the next day to check on my pet, but I decided to call in the morning to see if I could get the vet to prescribe some anxiety medication. The woman who handled my call said that the vet wasn’t in the office. I asked if there was another vet in today and she said ‘yes, but your dog is not her patient. You’ll have to wait until Dr. Mena reruns on Monday’. I was left with zero help until Monday. I ended up taking her in on Wednesday July to have the changed. My husband went and waited for a long time for her to get her bandage changed. He came home to tell me they told him nothing, were rude, did not have masks covering their faces for the pandemic. My dogs new bandage had her one bad ear covered and the other one barely peeking through the bandage. So yesterday was the worst of it. Or maybe it’s all just been ridiculous? I take her in for the bandage change and the vets calls again shaming me for the way I’ve cared for my dog. We are 14 days post op now- just saying. He said that her ear is badly infected and he cannot understand how I did not smell anything. I said I hadn’t and we had been keeping a close eye on her. He asked if I got the bandage wet?? I responded no. He said that someone did and now it has caused an infection. So irritated, but I think it was th ear medication he put in on the last visit. Next day from this we are home and my dog can barely walk 12 hours after sedation. I’m so sad that my vet hospital is so incompetent. I’ve loved our time here, but I’m not sure we will be going back. The staff is poorly trained and so is the vet!!!!

I take my three cats there I am very impressed with how much everybody is so attentive to my cats needs, they explain things thoroughly and they’re all compassionate and caring individuals! I never knew about a cat wellness plan until I went to this place and you know what it is worth the money because I love my fur babies!! And my kitty Loki just had a visit today and he needed dental surgery and as we all know that’s nothing to full around with, the associates at this establishment helped me out I don’t get paid till tomorrow and they did everything today for him I am thankful and grateful!

Banfield, I hold you and your inept Drs and your “wellness plan” directly responsible for the condition my best friend is in right now!! Misdiagnosed for 6 months!!! I have many, many followers on Facebook and Twitter. My family has over 1 million contacts on social media. If he dies, I will make it my life’s mission to ruin you. You have my word on that

Was hesitant about going here but very happy! They made sure everything was okay before doing anything, vet professional, caring, kind. The plan everyone talks about seems to be misinterpreted. It lays out everything it covers with the monthly fee and anything not on the list is discounted. I even called back the next day to ask a question and felt very satisfied after, they did not try rushing me off the phone and answered all questions.

Bad experience this time with my one dog. I called to make her a last minute appointment and they were able to fit her in at 1pm. Got her there and gave the issues to why she was being brought in then was told since she was "squeezed in" she'd likely be seen last to which I replied "that's fine. Didn't hear anything back until 5:20pm when the vet called to basically ask why I brought her in again and talking about how she was concerned my dog had progressed into kidney disease and had not done any blood work or labs yet and asked at this time if it would be alright that they drew blood work and got a urine sample. They didn't think anything was wrong except mild dehydration but didn't give her any fluids and sent her home with a bland diet and some kidney specific food. Just seems like they would have drawn blood a lot sooner if they thought something was wrong with her kidneys.
